LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
suenkachun replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
How about a better way to generate instructions if you want to separate your model into several parts but keep everything in one file, such as one floor into one instruction book? Many official LEGO sets ask you to build them in sections before combining the sections, so that's something worth improving. -
It's almost impossible to place anything inside the Box 3x4 (Part 30150). I tested this with most of the Bricks which can fit inside the Box and many of them could only be inserted directly on top of the Box or beneath it, but not inside it. The only exceptions are the 1x1 Bricks/Plates/Flat Tiles and the corresponding taller/wider Bricks (1x2x2, 1x1x3, 1x1x5, 1x2x5, 1x3x5 and Column 1x1x6), which can be inserted inside the Box directly or by placing the Box beneath the Brick(s).

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
suenkachun replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Better Instructions are needed! I generated one yesterday and discovered that LDD would build parts in an unrealistic way. For example, it built the top Brick and the bottom Brick before building the Brick in between! Another time it built the middle Brick before building the top Brick, then the bottom Brick was built, meaning that the middle Brick would have been dangling in mid-air before I connected it on top! In both cases, you then had to take apart a certain Brick(s) to insert the next Brick(s)! In fact, Bricks dangling in mid-air is quite common as seen in past instructions I generated, which is so unrealistic and inconvenient! -

Very true! From what I've seen in different sources, we need scrolling features for all oversized menu items and make sure that you can do that with your middle mouse, try and prevent the oversized menu items from freezing after you scroll for a while, and like you said have bigger images for the different decos (especially Minifigure Tops, Legs and Arms!). -
Here's a small problem related to the two LEGO Computer Keyboards (both printed on a 1x2 Flat Tile respectively) as seen in this image. The upper two Keyboards show the original printings, where the White Keyboard has a clearer printing than the Dark Stone Grey Keyboard. The lower two Keyboards are produced by reversing the colours of the two Keyboards in LDD Extended, which further shows the differences between the two printings. At first I thought this was only a problem existing in LDD, but this seems to be a real-life problem as well. According to Brickset, there are three variations of the Keyboard. 4293350 Flat Tile 1X2, Keyboard (link) 4200903 Flat Tile 1X2 No. 79 (the less common one/link) 4493478 Flat Tile 1X2 No. 79 (link) By comparing the images of the three Keyboards, you can clearly see that the White Keyboard has a clearer printing compared to the two Dark Stone Grey Keyboards. Therefore there Dark Stone Grey Keyboard should have a clearer printing. EDIT: After viewing the printings more closely, I realised that the White Keyboard has no space in between the edge of the Flat Tile and all its Keys, so the Dark Stone Grey Keyboards have a smaller and therefore blurred printing. As a result, can the printing quality of the Dark Stone Grey Keyboards be enhanced even after a slight size reduction?

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?

Here's another suggestion: "Find And Replace", just like in Microsoft Office products. Basically, the function lets you find and/or replace certain Bricks in your model, and you can set certain filters before you run the search. -
That's a great suggestion, but for decorations please refer to this topic, where I have also posted a very large number of suggestions, including your suggestion (I think you are referring to this design which I currently need in LDD, and there is also this new design used in the recent Simpson's Set 71016 Kwik-E-Mart, which unfortunately looks best when being used with the different additional Green Stickers).

What new LEGO Bricks would you like LEGO to make?
suenkachun replied to suenkachun's topic in Community
Apparently, one of the Bricks in my wanted list is already available, so that's one Brick down! 20. Plate 2x2 Round W 1 Knob. This Brick is currently not found in LDD, so I thought it didn't exist. However, I just saw it on Brickset. 18674: Plate Round W. 1 Knob (link) Also, for 14. Two new Round Brick 1x1 (Part 3062), half of my request is actually available. 75535: Tube ΓΈ7,84 2M is in fact a Round Brick with two wider ends, but it doesn't match the height of two Round Bricks 1x1, so you might have to work something out. Hopefully, we'll soon see other Bricks in my list added! -
In the latest version of LDD (Version 4.3.8, Brick Version 1564.2), this connection (Plate 1x1 Round) is not possible, although several of the Friends Sets use this connection (such as Set 41006 Downtown Bakery and Set 3061 City Park Cafe). Therefore should this become a bug of LDD again (only add connectivity for all 1x1 Round Plates but not other Bricks)? I'm working on a Bakery and need this build to make some simple cupcakes (like those in the Friends Sets).EDIT: The Friends Set 41034 Summer Caravan uses the 1x1 Decoration Top No. 1 connection, so if the Plate 1x1 Round connection is made possible the 1x1 Decoration Top No. 1 should also connect to the Cupcake Piece (M4).

Update: I left out the following Bricks in my long list earlier, and some new Bricks have been released in 2015 which are now added to my list. Links are also taken from Brickset. 6117641: Brick 1X1 "No. 12" (link) Currently, LDD only has the slightly different Medium Blue version of the above Brick (4619596: Brick 1X1 No. "6"-link), but not the above Reddish Brown version. 4569060: Brick 1X1 " No. 1" (link) This is the unique eye design not yet found in LDD. 4107722: Brick 1X1/Eye (link) Both the White and Bright Yellow eye have two versions, where one of them has an extra white dot. However, the Bright Green eye is missing the plain version. 6117540: Brick 1X2X2 "No. 4" (link) 4585513: Brick 1X4 "No. 3" (link) 4569077: Brick 2X2 " No. 1" (link)/81910: Brick 2X2 Dec.Eyes (New) (link) Currently, LDD only has the white versions of the two eyes printed on the side of a 2x2 Brick, but not the Bright Yellow versions. 4585514: Brick 2X2 "No. 3" (link) 6051567: Brick 2X2 "No. 1000" (link) 6055890: Brick 1X4X1 1/3 "No.1001" (link) 4114219: Arch 2X4X2 "Blouse" (link) 4114388: Arch 2X4X2 "Overall" (link) 4107837: Arch 2X4X2/Hen (link) 81781: Brick Cur.2X4/2X2 D.Girl (link) 81780: Brick Curv.2X4/2X2 D.Boy (link) 4616348: Brick W. The Front, 2x2 has has numerous decos found in the link below: http://brickset.com/parts/category-Modelling-Elements/page-2 (in the sixth row) 4255025: Spruce Tree H64 Col. 01/37 (link) P.S., For any of my links to work, you have to show/display 200 Bricks per page. That's all I could add for now. Thank you so much for everyone's attention!

This was reported as an error of LDD 4, but posting it here is also appropriate. In the Regular Mode of LDD, I could only find the Eagle Wing Right (Part 11777), but not the Eagle Wing Left (Part 11778). Instead I found the Left Wing only existing in LDD Extended. The Left Wing (Reddish Brown) needs to be added in the Regular Mode of LDD to form a complete pair of wings.

LEGO has a Window Frame 4x3 (Part 3853) where two Shutter 2x3 (Part 3856) can be attached to it, while a number of windows and glass can be used with the frame itself. Seen in the instructions of some LEGO Sets the Shutters are always placed outside, but I think this has always been wrong. The Shutters should be a LEGO version of Curtains and will be closed when necessary (unless if it's used as a design element in the house). If we stick with LEGO's design, a Minifigure (in theory) will have to walk outside the house to close the shutters! So, which do you think is the correct way to place the shutters-outside the house or inside the house? Please contribute your ideas!

I couldn't find a suitable piece of glass for the Frame 1x4x4 (Part 6154) in LDD, but from my research it seems that there is no such piece in reality. The only piece which is currently used with it is the Wicket 4x4 (Part 6155), which is attached to the back of the frame. If you compare the the Frame 1x4x4 (Part 6154) with the Window Frame 1x4x5 (Part 2493), you can notice four holes on both frames in the front, two on top and two directly below in the bottom. As there is a Glass 4x5 (Part 2494) which fits into the Window Frame 1x4x5 (Part 2493), attached via the four holes, my question is: is there a corresponding glass for the Frame 1x4x4 (Part 6154)?

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
suenkachun replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Here's a suggestion which can help a lot. Every time LDD is restarted, the order of the Templates is changed, which can be bothering if you have many. Can we somehow customise the order of the Templates to keep related ones together? -
What new LEGO Bricks would you like LEGO to make?
suenkachun replied to suenkachun's topic in Community
Here are three more suggestions I thought of today. 24. More colours for the 3x3 Plate to make it more common. Currently, it's only available in three colours (Dark Stone Grey, Medium Stone Grey and Light Purple) as seen in LDD. 25. More colours for the Plate 3x3, Cross to make it more common. Currently, it's only available in three different colours (Black, Dark Orange and Medium Lavender) as seen in LDD. 26. More colours for the Flat Tile 1x1, Round, as it's still not available in some of the most common colours, such as Red, Bright Yellow, Dark Green and Black P.S., I totally agree with a 2x3 Flat Tile as mentioned above. For the Profile Brick, perhaps it'll be easier to make a 1x1 with two versions, and possibly a corner version as well. Also, another important point about this type of Bricks is there should be more colours to make it more common. -
What new LEGO Bricks would you like LEGO to make?
suenkachun replied to suenkachun's topic in Community
This time, I've thought of two more Bricks to add to my wanted list, and from now on the list will continue in new posts. 21. One more Profile Brick (Single Gro.). If you refer back to the twelfth item in the first post of this topic, I've already talked about adding more longer Profile Bricks (Single Gro.). Recently, I discovered that with only the 1x2 and 1x4 versions, you are unable to complete the wall pattern if there is a one-Brick gap in your wall, which you must fill up with a 1x1 Brick in the same colour (it might not look good, but this is only my personal opinion). As it's harder to make a one-Brick wide Profile Brick (Single Gro.), having a three-Brick version is the best option for now (unless LEGO can still manage to make the one-Brick version, then in that case I'd suggest to have both versions added). EDIT: According to my latest observations, both the one-Brick wide version and the three-Brick wide version can actually have two different designs on the face with vertical lines between the horizontal lines, so that might be the reason why LEGO didn't make them. Therefore, my suggestion will now include all the different variations. 22. Brick 1x2 W. 1 Knob/2 Knobs. If you refer back to the sixteenth item in the previous post, I've already talked about Bricks With Knobs. This time, I recommend having a Brick 1x2 W. 1 Knob where the knob is placed in the middle of the Brick, just like the position of the hole in Technic Brick 1x2, ΓΈ4.9, and another version of this Brick with two knobs back-to-back in the middle (Brick 1x2 W. 2 Knobs) should also be added. That's all I can think of this time. Please continue to contribute your ideas, and thank you for everyone's attention! -
LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
suenkachun replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I totally agree with you, but for the second Sliding Door build it's a bit too hard to build by cheating as it's harder to place a piece of glass in the most accurate position, compared to a frame with glass. Therefore executing these types of builds automatically should make things easier. Also, if these changes are made, why not add a sliding function for the corresponding frames with glass/glass directly? -
LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
suenkachun replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
You can build Sliding Doors (Image for Sliding Plate Version) with LEGO in reality, but not in LDD for now. In the image, two glass in the corresponding frames are fixed between two groups of Plate with Gliding Groove (Part 30586) and two others are simply placed between them one brick forward (Here's a showing such door being built). Another version involves placing two pieces of glass in between two groups of Plate with Rail (Part 4510) (Here's another showing such door being built). The problem with these two builds is in both cases, either the glass with frames or the glass are not attached to any bricks, therefore they are not considered as legal builds in LDD. In fact, the Sliding Plate Version was used in Set 7937 Train Stations City Trains (Link to Building Instructions). For now, the second version can't be built in LDD at all, but you can build the Sliding Plate Version in LDD by cheating: insert a Plate(s) and arrange the doors into the correct position above it(them), then delete the Plate(s) and place a Plate(s) with Gliding Groove(s) in the original position. My conclusion is that these two builds should become legal builds in LDD, but I still don't know how to make that happen. -
For me, upgrading my laptop to Windows 10 actually helped to solve more of my LDD problems. One of the basic system requirements of LDD is 128 MB of Dedicated Video Memory, and when my laptop was still using Windows 8.1 I only had 32 MB of Dedicated Video Memory (Intel HD Graphics 4400), therefore causing all sorts of problems (all desktop PCs at my university had 64 MB on their Intel Cards, so mine was crazy bad!). Fortunately my laptop also had an NVIDIA Card (NVIDIA GeForce 840M) which was powerful enough to run LDD, so I switched to that one under the suggestion of the LDD Support Team. This improved things slightly and helped to satisfy my short-term needs, but I still had to find a long-term solution. Recently, I upgraded to Windows 10 and the Dedicated Video Memory of the Intel Card was automatically modified to 128 MB, therefore meeting the basic requirements of LDD! Now, I can run LDD on either the Intel Card or the NVIDIA Card, which is good (although I still can't smoothly open larger files, but never mind). Therefore, upgrading to Windows 10 might actually have an additional bonus which can hopefully solve a few more of your problems when using LDD, especially for laptop users.P.S., From what I've researched, you should be able to change the Dedicated Video Memory on a desktop PC under the "BIOS Settings"; but laptop manufacturers usually don't include that function to save money, and due to limitations of the motherboard it's not that easy to upgrade a laptop's graphics card.

It's been a while since I last posted in this topic, but it's now a perfect time to post here again. I have continued to use Track Designer in the past few months, and recently I've discovered a small error in the programme, which can't be fixed now, of course, but users should be aware of it. The error is: at least three different elements can't be displayed properly. The first one is the Curved Airport Runway, which is named [unknown]. When you insert one of these, you can only see the outline of the element (a square with three curved lines) and "Unknown Element" written in red on top of the element. The other two are the "Join Left" and "Join Right" elements in the "Monorail" section. When you try to insert either one, an error message will appear the first time you do this, which says "Renderings of one or more pieces were not found in the registry. Load the correct registry or add the missing renderings.". The inserted piece(s) will only be represented by a blank square, but it seems that you can still connect other track pieces to the three ends of the element(s). Other than that, the Help File can't be opened any more, as it was written in the old Windows Help format. I tried downloading an update from the Microsoft Website but it still couldn't be opened. That's all I have for now.

Another error I just found: In the Regular Mode of LDD, I could only find the Eagle Wing Right (Part 11777), but not the Eagle Wing Left (Part 11778). Instead I found the Left Wing only existing in LDD Extended. As a pair of wings is more unique which needs to exist side-by-side, could the Left Wing be added in the Regular Mode of LDD?
