  1. I reinstalled the latest files and all parts are now working fine. However, there still seems to be a problem with a few Decorations. As shown here, the three NASA Decorations are still not displayed correctly despite support already added to the DecorationMapping.xml file and are all present in the corresponding .lxfml file. I then tried using the Decoration Tool on Part 76798 and nothing showed up. Also, I compared the latest 21051 file with the Decorated Parts 21051 Image from Bricksafe and noticed that the four Part 60601 should all be decorated, but only the lower two are currently decorated and when using the Decoration Tool the top two Decorations seem to be missing. Keep up the good work!
  2. One of the first LEGO Sets I still own is Set 4244 My Home Bucket, released way back in 1998! Although the bricks are now scattered across many places, I managed to dig through my collection and locate seven vintage Printed LEGO Bricks, including a Part 3010 Brick 1x4, a Part 3009 Brick 1x6, a Part 3297 Roof Tile 3x4/25° three Part 4744 Arch 2x4x2 and a Part 6213 Brick 2x6x3. From this image, we can see that there is the set of three classic designs of the 90s: Part 81780 BRICK CURV.2X4/2X2 D.BOY, Part 81781 BRICK CUR.2X4/2X2 D.GIRL and Brick 2x6x3 with Red, White, Blue Flowers Pattern, then we have another Green Arch 2x4x2 which I randomly retrieved from a relative’s Duplo Collection a while ago, next is the two car fronts (1x4 Brick and Roof Tile) and finally we have a fancy 1x6 upper door arch. The car front on the Bright Yellow Roof Tile is easy to create as this decoration was just added to the latest pack, so just make the slope decoratable and apply the relevant decoration. If there are no better files of the other decorations available online, I could probably scan these Bricks into BMP Files then convert these to SVG images for accurate digital re-colouring (as colouring on these old Bricks have faded over time) then output as PNGs for use in LDD. I’ll use the RGB Values of Official LEGO Colours to make everything as accurate as possible, and hopefully I can contribute something soon. Thanks for the massive efforts by everyone up till now!
  3. I have posted about this before, just search for the relevant posts in this topic regarding Decoration Sizes and have a look at the PDF file I created. Basically, LDD can only properly handle Decorations Sizes which are either square or the power of two, so other than squares only 1x2, 1x4, 2x4, 1x8 and 8x16 will work properly. Decorations such as 1x3, 2x3, 1x6, 2x6 and future 6x6 will not be displayed perfectly as LDD is not programmed to handle them well. For the best results, regarding all Decorations which can’t be displayed properly just compress your design into a square then LDD will automatically resize it correctly on the relevant surface. The maximum Decoration Size in LDD is 1024px times 1024px, so for the best output clarity I usually output all of my irregular Decorations Sizes in this maximum dimension.
  4. A massive thank you for this amazing update! I just noticed that when opening the latest 210501 lxf file, it said that three bricks could not be loaded and have been removed from the model. I did a quick check and discovered that the three NASA Decorations (782525, 782526 and 782531) were missing on the three Part 76798. Upon further investigations, I noticed that these three Decorations are missing from the latest DecorationMapping.xml file, so I guess that the three missing entries need to be added and updated? Other than this, the rest of the update works like a charm so thanks again!
  5. Just found a new series of bugs with Part 38585 Window Arch Corner (Brickset name). As the Brick features a half arch on either end, other Bricks can currently be placed incorrectly beside it in LDD. I tested this with Part 38583 Window Arch (Brickset name), 1x2 Brick and Round Brick 1x1, the results can be viewed via this zip folder. I guess the correct collision boundaries need to be added to this Brick which prevents any incorrect Bricks placed beside it. Keep up the great work!
  6. From what I understand so far, you are correct. All decoratable Parts in LDD are designed to accept square Decorations up to 1024px times 1024px universally, and certain Parts can also correctly accept Decorations with sizes that are the power of two. Using the rectangular versions in certain cases will produce better display quality, but as long as your Decoration is a square, insert it into LDD and it will be resized to fit onto the relevant surface (but display quality will be lower if the relevant surface is not a square too). I guess this meant that all of the original LDD Decorations could have been produced as squares instead of having the designers spend time resizing each one to fit each relevant surface. Also, if a Decoration is used on two different sized surfaces, they could produce one square Decoration and it would always work anywhere no matter what.
  7. Thank you for the information! As this seems to be an issue to do with OpenGL, I guess it’ll be hard to fix, even with the latest updates to LDD made possible by the wonderful people here. If your guesses are correct, this means that enabling 1x8 and 8x16 Decorations won’t be any trouble at all, as LDD should successfully display these Decorations since they have sizes that are the power of two. In this case, I guess we could use the following new rules when implementing newer Decorations into LDD for now (always using the base ratio of 1 Brick=64px): 1. 1x1 Flat Tile/2x2 Flat Tile/Most Irregular Surfaces: 256px times 256px, 512px times 512px or 1024px times 1024px (the old 64px and 128px versions are a bit too small so 256px should be the minimum). 2. 1x2 Flat Tile/2x4 Flat Tile: 128px times 256px, 256px times 512px or 512px times 1024px. 3. 1x4 Flat Tile: 128px times 512px or 256px times 1024px. 4. 1x8 Flat Tile: once Decoration support is added, the Decoration must be 128px times 1024px for the maximum display quality. 5. 8x16 Flat Tile: once Decoration support is added, the Decoration must be 512px times 1024px for the maximum display quality. 6. Any 3x3 and 6x6 Decorations can also be produced with sizes 256px times 256px, 512px times 512px or 1024px times 1024px, as these are considered squares too. 7. 1x6 Flat Tile/1x3 Flat Tile/2x3 Flat Tile and any other surfaces with 3 Bricks or 6 Bricks on at least one side: make sure that the resulting PNG File is either 512px times 512px or 1024px times 1024px to produce better display quality. LDD will have to stretch the Decorations to fit the relevant surfaces, so it’s best to produce larger source images. By the way, you can now expand these two Decoration PNGs back into 512px times 1024px for the maximum display quality in LDD, really looking forward to the 8x16 Flat Tile being decoratable soon (I have an upcoming LEGO project involving several decorated 8x16 Flat Tiles, and I can preview the end results in LDD once the Brick becomes decoratable). Keep up the great work!
  8. If we stick with the basic ratio of 1 Brick=64 pixel (px), then a 2x6 Tile would be 128px times 384px, and a 3x3 Rould Tile would be 384px times 384px, then you could scale up each version for better quality (such as double the size which is what I usually do). As round tiles are basically round versions of squares, just creating a standard square version (such as 128px times 128px then scaled up if necessary) should work fine. In the future, always calculate the relevant Decoration sizes using the basic ratio of 1 Brick=64px and you should be correct (then scale things up if necessary). However, as I did mention at the end of the document, LDD currently fails to handle 1x6 Decorations correctly. Using the basic ratio of 1 Brick=64px, 1x6 should be at least 64px times 384px. But currently, the 1x6 needs to be at least 64px times 512px for it to be displayed correctly, which is in fact the correct base ratio for a 1x8 Decoration. Also, both 1x3 and 2x3 are relatively newer Brick sizes, so LDD was never programmed to properly accept Decorations with odd number sizes. Using the basic ratio again, 1x3 should be at least 64px times 192px, and 2x3 should be at least 128px times 192px. In addition, if we include the larger Decoration sizes as well then 6x6 should be at least 384px times 384px, and 8x16 should be at least 512px times 1024px. Do note that LDD will not accept Decorations larger than 1024px on any sides. I have no clue regarding how LDD actually handles Decoration sizes, but the 1x6 size issue needs to be fixed somehow for the basic ratio to work fully, then we can enable LDD to correctly accept 1x8 Decorations using the current 1x6 size. The next thing to do will be updating LDD so it can properly accept Decorations with odd number sizes (1x3/2x3, etc.) before these ratios are applied onto the relevant Bricks. For now, we can in fact add support for 1x8/6x6/8x16, etc., but the relevant Decorations need to be scaled up squares so that they can at least be displayed clearer, or we could just stick with the old LDD standard by making all Decorations 128px times 128px (although they will end up looking quite blurry in LDD).
  9. Thanks to everyone who helped continue updating LDD with the latest content! I thought I’d contribute a bit and post my main findings regarding LDD Decorations. With LDD now being even more “customisable” than before, I decided to write a comprehensive guide regarding Decoration Sizes in LDD. Thanks to a few odd files in the original “Decorations Folder”, I discovered that LDD can actually accept a few other PNG dimensions to better fit certain Bricks. However, there is currently a small error regarding how 1x6 Decorations are handled in LDD; and in my opinion, this needs to be addressed in some way before we actually allow 1x8 Decorations in LDD. Feel free to have a look at this simple five-page PDF guide here and I hope this will be useful for everyone helping to add more updated content to LDD. Any comments and suggestions are always welcome and thank you all in advance!
  10. Very impressive! May I ask what the dimensions of the relevant png files need to be for such clarity? I know a standard Decoration in LDD is 128 pixels times 128 pixels and creating such small images certainly can’t output this clearly. Thanks in advance!
  11. Looks great! I did a quick search in Microsoft Word (latest 365 version) and found a font called “Posterama”, other than the number 5 the rest looks a tiny bit more accurate than your version, hope this helps.
  12. I always use Brickset’s Database to check everything. According to them, there are actually three Printed versions of the Cheese Wedge: https://brickset.com/parts?query=Roof tile 1x1x2/3, as shown near the end of the list here (set to show 500 items before viewing).
  13. Thanks, everything is working now. Update: check Part 90639: Shell A 5M Ball Snap ø10.2 as well, if you filter Transparent the 47-Tr. Fluore.Redd. Orange one and the 297-Warm Gold one will show up, as most of their surfaces are all incorrectly painted in Transparent.
  14. BTW, I just stumbled upon an old post of mine in an old LDD bugs and issues topic. I noticed that part of this issue has already been fixed since the release of the series of un(official) updates, so here are the remaining unsolved issues. When using the colour filter to select 40-Transparent in the regular mode of LDD, a number of other bricks in different colours will also be filtered in and displayed in the menu, which also means that these bricks are actually partially incorrectly coloured, but after inserting them into the model they’re all fine (except for one), so it’s mostly just something to do with the menu. This issue is now present only in the following two bricks. 1. Part 3069: Flat Tile 1x2 (Image). In this case filtering Transparent will end up with three colours: the Transparent one, the 311-Tr. Bright Green one and another nearly Transparent one. The second one is filtered in since its sides are incorrectly painted in Transparent. The third one should actually be in 294-Phosph,Green (I applied the 294 colour filter and it also showed up in the menu), but other than having most of it painted incorrectly as Transparent, you will end up with the Transparent version if you insert it (unlike the second one which will correctly insert the Tr. Bright Green version, so this specific brick has more underlying problems than just a menu glitch). This glitch has remained unchanged even since the (un)official updates. 2. Part 3626 Mini Head (Image). In this case filtering Transparent will end up with four two colours: the Transparent one, the 311-Tr. Bright Green one, and the 294-Phosph,Green one and the 143-Tr. Fluore. Blue one. The three two extra bricks are filtered in since their tops and bottoms are all incorrectly painted in Transparent (the screenshot is currently outdated as only the 294-Phosph,Green one shows up now). Hope to see these three incorrectly coloured bricks fixed too and thanks as usual! Thanks for the information. I successfully reinserted both bricks in alternative locations and saved the file without the error message appearing upon reopening, so I guess it must have been some sort of collision errors in the source file that caused them to be removed, as I made sure to update my LDD correctly and not modify the original file after a direct download.
  15. Sorry for the delayed response, but here are the details. Here is the error message, and here is a screenshot of the parts which do appear. I also saved 210116.lxf a second time after the error message appeared and it can be found here. I just checked and the brick count remained the same at 135, so it seems odd for the error message to appear.
  16. Thank you so much for the update! I just downloaded the files and everything seems to be working, but when I tried to open your 210116.lxf with the latest bricks, a message popped up once opened saying a brick could not be loaded and was removed from the model. The only file I have to manually update each time is the DecorationMapping.xml to ensure that none of my own decoration combinations are deleted, and the rest of the files are all copied over directly once extracted, so I wonder what went wrong here. Also, the UnplaceableBricksDump.lxfml did not appear for me this time, so perhaps a new brick was missing somewhere.
  17. Thank you so much for the updates, looking forward to the next (un)official release!
  18. I last visited Eurobricks regularly in 2018, and now is the right time that I rose from the dead! Around March 2018, I stumbled upon a post somewhere regarding decos, which led to successfully extracting the “db” folder myself. Since then, I have been focusing on custom decos for my own LEGO projects in LDD, and the results have improved massively over time. Although my LDD was already customised with a handful of custom decos, nothing could compare to the amazing work produced by such a dedicated LEGO Community here, and I must thank everyone from the bottom of my heart! With the latest advancements in customisation regarding LDD, I was wondering whether the following issues could be addressed in some way. Some are old issues while others are nice additions to the programme. 1. I first discovered this in 2016, but this tiny visual bug still exists today: when inserting a 1/4 Circle Tile 1x1 (Part 25269), the Stud underneath it will disappear for no reason, and will only reappear if you drag the Tile out and place it down again. You also have to use the “Shape Tool” to select all Circle Tiles then drag and place for every Stud to reappear in one go, but the Studs will always disappear again once you reopen your file. 2. Railway tracks in LDD have not been the most accurate. The main issue is the four old 9V track elements (Parts 74746, 74747, 75541 and 75542, Rail 16M With El.) all have square ends on either side instead of the proper connecting joints as shown on the new plastic Track elements (Parts 53400 and 53441, Rail 16M). Other than this, I hope to see Train, Track 9V Crossing (Part 32087) added for the old 9V series. For new plastic rails, adding Switch Left (Part 18612 and Part 53406), Switch Right (Part 18596 and Part 53403) and Train Rail Crossing (Set 7996, Part 57794) will complete the series. P.S., I was initially surprised that LEGO only added the two 9V switch rails into LDD but not the new plastic versions. Since the Monorail and roller coaster elements were successfully created and added to LDD, I guess modifying the regular railway tracks and adding the missing ones won’t be that hard. 3. Certain Bricks still can’t be decorated (un)officially despite recent community updates. I know that others have successfully done this, but I would still love to see the following elements being able to be decorated in (un)official releases even though no relevant decos are available in the “db”:main slope of Part 35338 Roof Tile 1X1X2/3 (i.e., Cheese Wedge); top of Part 63834 Flat Tile 1x3 (this is currently the only shorter flat tile without decoration support); main slope of Part 13334 Roof Tile 2X3/25° (for at least that famous space logo which I’ve seen multiple times on other topics); main slope of Part 38135 Roof Tile 2X3, 45 Deg. and main slope of Part 30695 Roof Tile 2X4, Deg. 45. These five elements are currently my most wanted elements requiring decoration support, and all of them have at least one official version with printed parts on their main surface(s). That’s all I have for now. Keep up the great work and thanks again!
  19. I have not posted on Eurobricks or visited the site in a very long time. During this period, I continued to build with LDD and even learnt how to use customised decorations in my projects (I will not mention any details here as we all know that this is not supposed to be legal). Throughout this process, I found a way to eliminate a tiny visual bug someone posted in one of these topics back in the day. Referring to this image, there is a weird frame around that particular icon in the menu. Upon closer inspections, I found this image amongst the assets of the programme. By comparing the image with other ones in the same folder such as this one, we can clearly see that image 274 contains some weird lines in the middle, which is the main cause of the tiny visual bug. I then decided to try and fix the bug by editing the PNG file of image 274. In Microsoft Paint, I opened image 277 and discovered that it included the three icons above a transparent background. Then I temporarily made this background black, before opening image 274. Next, I painted everything outside the three icons of image 274 black, making sure that this area was an exact match to the temporary black area in image 277. Finally, I used my trusted Free Online Image Editor and turned the black part of image 274 transparent, meaning that it now includes the three icons above a transparent background like the rest of the images. By replacing the original image 274 with this new image, LDD now loads the icon in the menu without that weird frame. I can only reveal that the images are found under a folder called “MainGroupDividers”, as the entire process is only possible after you learnt how to use customised decorations in LDD, which is not supposed to be legal. But feel free to use my corrected image if you still want to fix this tiny visual bug. Until next time! EDIT: Found the original post:
  20. OK, but they should still be “properly connected in the future”. You’ve got to download it manually. The link should have been posted somewhere in this topic. More specifically, you need to reinstall LDD after uninstalling the previous version (which should retain all of your files).
  21. Even if the recent download is not the final version being released to the public, I will still use it as my upcoming LEGO Ideas submission does include a number of new parts. BTW, I did find two new bugs in this release which can be seen here.
  22. I believe that this is the first bug in LDD Version 4.3.11. The three new Outer Cables: Outer Cable 32MM (Part 60187), Outer Cable 104 MM (Part 76292) and Outer Cable 168MM (Part 76259) can’t be flexed, but every single one of the rest can! EDIT: Found another bug! Axle (Part 18924) can’t be inserted into either of the gaps underneath the Car Chassis 6x16x2 (Part 18923), although these parts need to be used together. I’ve tried to add a plate underneath the two parts but they still won’t link together!
  23. EDIT: It might be one of the new Kitchen Equipment (No. 1-5)! I completely forgot about this Brick on my list, and it was not added to LDD in the latest update! I had a build which used many of the old version, and it does look better with the new version!
  24. OMG!!! THIS IS THE BEST NEWS EVER!!! EVERY SINGLE PART on my list earlier has been added!!! Now I can finally finish my LEGO Ideas submission perfectly and update all of my old builds with the 2x3 Flat Tile!!! I can also finally produce a Grand Piano with a completely flat top!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH, TLG!!!
  25. As 2017 comes to an end, here’s a compilation of the top Bricks in my most wanted Brick list for LDD. 1. Flat Tile 2x3 (Part 26603). I actually need this part for a LEGO Ideas submission very soon (where a minimised Brick Count is very important), so please add it ASAP! 2. Brick 1x1x1 2/3, W/ Vert. Knobs (Part 32952). I’ve actually wanted a part like this to build Headlights of vehicles and for attaching the Control Panel of a Microwave (represented by a Cupboard)! In the end, I stuck with LEGO’s official version found for example in the recent Pizza Van (Set 60150). 3. Plate 1x3 W/ 2 Knobs (Part 34103). 4. Tile 2x2, W/ Bow (Part 27925). Using this Brick alongside a 1/4 Circle Tile 1x1 (Part 25269) will create a Flat Tile version of a Curved Plate, a very useful technique for my LEGO Ideas submission mentioned above, so please add it ASAP too! P.S., with this combination, we can finally build Grand Pianos with completely flat covers (since we can avoid the use of Curved Plates), and I’ll update mine as soon as this Brick and the Flat Tile 2x3 are added to LDD! 5. Tile 4x4, W/ Bow (Part 27507). 6. Tile 2x2, Deg. 90, W/ Deg. 45 Cut (Part 27263). 7. Roof Tile 1x2, Deg. 45, W/O Knobs (Part 28192). 8. Plate 2x2, W/ Reduced Knobs (Part 33909). 9. Plate 1x1 Round W/ Horizontal 3.2 Shaft (Part 32828). 10. Plate 2x2, W/ Design (Part 27928). 11. Umbrella No. 1 (Part 27150). 12. Paddle, No. 1 (Part 31990). 13. Mudguard 3x4, W/ Plate, No. 1 (Part 28326). 14. Left, Staircase 6x6x4 (Part 28466). 15. Right Plate 1x2, W/ Bow, 45 Deg. Cut (Part 29119). 16. Left Plate 1x2, W/ Bow, 45 Deg. Cut (Part 29120). 17. Car Bottom, Large, Assembly/Car Chassis 6x16x2, Assembly (Part 18937). If I think of any more I will mention them in my next post here, but for now, this list should satisfy my short-term needs and demands.
