Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
LegendaryArticuno replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's a wait for sale set for me, I mentioned most of my issues in the 2022 topic but I'll just reiterate not making the Quinjet sand blue with trans black windshields was a huge fumble. -

The What If figs were the highlight for me. Gamora was incredible considering the Benatar didn't include her, not sure if the people who didn't like her inclusion really think things through. The most useless figs of that batch easily goes to WandaVision. Monica Rambeau was the biggest waste of a slot, and white vision was only decent relative to the other figs in the series. -
To be fair you didn't put on an "engineer's" hat at all but more of an ignorance hat. You really think the same storage/logistics problem Lego "suffered" from decades ago would impact Lego as a company the same way in modern times, or that Lego does not employ any supply chain experts that could come up with a solution? Wait till you learn about electronics manufacturing and the inventory of parts that are magnitudes higher and more complex than that of Lego. Lego choosing to use stickers will always primarily be a cost saving decision.

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I really hope they don't do X-Mansion in that playset style. My ideal X-Mansion would be to have it split up and sold as 2-3 separate modulars - center of the house should be 32x32 with classroom and lounge on the main floor, rooms on the 2nd, and Cerebro room on the 3rd since you can't have a basement, and a bit of a backyard. Then the east and west wings could be ~16-20x32 respectively giving you a lot of space for green areas and outdoor facilities. Being sold as 2-3 separate modulars would also guarantee that most of the key X-Men and villains would get representation in minifig. -
Stickers Champions at it again in 2023... so much for going on record saying they intend to reduce the amount of stickers.

This is 100% copium from corporate apologists. The vast majority of people are not ripping off stickers to reuse a brick, and there is never a situation where I needed a brick but wished it didn't have a print. You can easily hide the print by just alternating the print inwards or just use another common brick as a replacement. The only time I'm okay with stickers are usually on UCS plaques/Daily Bugle TV screens since those large sticker cover over the ugly injection marks.

So when's the right time to buy the new Quinjet? I bought the Sanctum day 1 on double VIP and all the major retailers already had it discounted 20% off the next week. I think I might wait for 30% off or an incredible GWP paired with double VIP... people probably have a lot less disposable income after the holidays. -

Lego goes all out when it comes to the Lunar New Year and Monkie Kid sets (to a certain extent). No other theme comes close when it comes to budget allocation for specialized prints, parts, colours, and amount of minifigs. Not mention the design quality of the sets is always well done and has been consistently high over the years. Let the Marvel team borrow some of that talent. -

I agree with the guy that said Loki and Werewolf by Night are the only good Marvel shows. Hopefully Andor's success will inspire the Marvel showrunners to push out some actual quality. That said I do want a She Hulk and Moon Knight minifigs despite their shows being near unwatchable. -

Yeah the 2019/2020 Quinjet is pretty nice, I don't have it but I like the dark blue and the black nose piece. If I had it I would probably also skip out on the newest one and just use the money to mod it instead, i.e. reduce the length and get rid of the play features/gimmicks. The minifigs are overall pretty good on the upcoming 2023 set, but I still have a lot of issues with it: 1. Thor's beard colour doesn't match the blond hair piece colour 2. Black Widow's skin tone print on the chest doesn't match with the minifig head colour 3. Missing Hawkeye 4. General lack of both arm and leg printing -

My main problem with the Qunjet right now is that it's just a solid grey rectangle with wings. I really wish they made sand blue as the base colour and added grey for some highlights. Another observation, the rear engine intakes should've been much larger double the size, and the side intakes probably should also be 2 stud width. With a major overhaul the Quinjet can look really good. Compare: -

Damn they removed all 32x32 baseplates from B&P... and here I was waiting for them to add the dark navy blue from the Lighthouse set to it. -

Did you just assume the Quinjet's gender? That said, I'm with you at first I didn't like the look but now It's probably the only new Marvel set I will buy from that wave. The other sets are trash from a design perspective. -

So many corporate shills trying to justify Lego a billion dollar family owned private corporation a few more pennies. Truly an unpopular opinion if not an ignorant one, arguing against their own interest. -

Wow that's a lot of stickers, if I get the set I might mix and match LOL, i.e. for sticker #4/16 have one Shield and one Avengers, and for sticker #8/22 use the Avengers logo instead of the plain sticker. Glad they finally fixed the face printing... it took how many damn years? Maybe Spiderman can finally also get good arm printing that matches the torso colour. -

Oof so that's what the "inflation" price increases are going towards... paying Katie Perry to lip-synch and animating Iron Man into a poorly directed commercial. -

This is a really good fix for the design flaw, and if I remember correctly the extra pieces in the set made up a good number of the needed spare parts. No reason to have a set that's breaking itself apart when there's a pretty easy fix available! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loK76reY3yE -
Which Lego YouTube channels are best these days?

The only Lego youtube channel that matters: Ransomfern, 2bricks and Chubbybots are also great channels, basically any channel that does detailed moc tutorials. -

Big figs are absolutely terrible. They're always stuck in a hunched over pose, they never mesh well with the sets that they're in while jacking up the price, and they don't have much use for modding, i.e. try adding a big fig to the Daily Bugle. -

Gargantos is a really good set but only after you fix the significant design flaw. -

Leave it in the description, there's no need to verbally mention the set number. Anyone that actually needs the set number for any use would be getting it from the source, i.e. Lego or a consolidated list from Brickset. Nobody is jotting down set numbers based on what a Youtuber is saying. -

On the topic of set numbering, Youtubers who always say the set numbers comes off as very pretentious. -

I might get the new Hulkbuster when it goes on sale. I have alot of problems with it, namely the small waist and legs, and lack of detail but it will be a decent custom project to work on. Mixed feelings about the Quinjet as well. The cockpit is hideous and difficult to fix. And there's a serious lack of detailing and colour breakup compared to the Benatar. May get it on sale as another project to fix. Both sets have an overuse of stickers, and sadly in very prominent areas - nose of the Quinjet and shoulders of the Hulkbuster. The 4 mechs are the worst of the wave. Terrible design and function somehow got even worse with the fixed joints. The Morbius set is the most surprising, I'm not a fan of the Morbius minifig, he desperately needed a collar+cape, but the car with some slight modding could be near Speed Champions quality. I was expecting worse. -

Take a look at the recent Dr. Strange and I think most of the Marvel CMF figures have print extended or it blends in better. That said, due to the colours it really sticks out on Namor. -

The worst part of the Namor minifig is his legs, the print doesn't extend over the upper part so you can't even pose him in a swimming pose without it looking cheap and stupid.
