  1. Port Taxes generated by Nova Terreli this turn: 204 DBs for ESLandola.
  2. Really nice scene with lots of cool details. Well done!
  3. Just to make it clear: - I was asked in advance if I am fine with my royals going away: I said I don't like it but it's ok and I will accept. Easy. - I was given the choice who to give them to. - Compensation was never a topic before that. Neither did I ask for it, nor was it offered. - I earned more than I paid with all my royal properties. - I am not complaining, nor do I ask for compensation. My point is just: The richest players were already hit the hardest by the recent changes. I didn't complain, nor ask for anything. Being the one hit the hardest by national taxation again - now that would feel unfair. But enough about that. I am all fine and the Council will decide on whatever. :-)
  4. Regarding my position: 1) OOC it's already unfair enough. I have paid for my royal properties and now I just had to give them away with even the slightest compensation (no money, nothing). I couldn't even license them as large properties (or four large properties) instead. And didn't get my original investment back either. Just gone. Which I am fine with. But now having the kind of taxation that is the worst one for me - on top of that - would feel too unfair. 2) IC: Fontonajo surely wants to protect his wealth. And while in som regards he is a philantropist and loves Eslandola, in other regards he is just a greedy selfish as**ole. :-) 3) IC & OOC: I meant what I wrote regarding the freedom of choice. For me that is the most important part of ESLandolan national identity. Taking that away would just be bad, both from Román Fontonajo's perspective as well as from mine. Also I found some of the earlier arguments really convincing (don't know if it was Maxim or Kai or so. else): State-owned properties are not the solution either. They do not fit into ESL as a free nation, where the power lies in the actions and wealth of its people and trading companies, not in state-owned properties. Freedom of choice, once again. However OOC I will definitely be okay with any results to come. Only a game after all, and then let it be unfair. :-D IC however might be a different story... Not sure how Román would react towards a 5% wealth tax.
  5. It's this brick, apparently from the Batcave. I ordered it a while back via bricklink (not the cave, just some of those bricks) and never had a chance to really use it since. :-)
  6. Dear Eslandola, word has reached my ears, even here in Terraversa, about the most concerning recent financial reports. Be assured, my dear friends of the Colonial Council, that you do not stand alone in this struggle. The Fontonajo family is with you in these difficult times. I am certain you all realise any taxation of wealth is not an option? After all, the freedom of choice is what has made our nation great, and most certainly you will not dispossess your citizens of this freedom! I have always been in favour of further taxation - port taxes, taxation of new investments (properties), even taxes for living in the most luxourious towns, taxations for larger fleets, for titles, for offices - just about for everything that leaves us with a choice to decide against it, and thus against the taxes. While taxes on regular income might be a grey area, taxing our possessions leaves us with no choice to take another path - which is essentially the demise of freedom and thus the doom of our Empire. To express my support with more than just words I hereby transfer some of my most valuable possessions. While I give the Cotton Island near Salida Este to the Merchants Colonial Trading Company, which should be netting the MCTC around 150 Dubloons in monthly revenue, the Colonial Council Hall in Montario is hereby transferred to our nation. I entrust you, my friends in the Colonial Council, to use the money wisely. Also as of today, all port taxes acquired by Nova Terreli shall go directly to the treasury of our great Colonial Eslandolan Empire. My utmost respect to the work all of you are dedicating to our nations in those hard times. My finest regards Román Esteban Fontonajo, Colonial Grand Ambassador

  8. This is definitely a great improvement. I am happy you took much of the feedback provided by me and others The plate under the house ruins seems to not be properly attached, but aside from that it seems really well executed. Now about the presentation. While yours is not bad for this MOC, there is always room for further improvement. You might look at Ayrlegos MOCs, he is quite amazing at doing the presentations, and we can all learn from him. Gideon always had fantastic presentation as well. I think your background and photo are ok. What I'd really suggest is to make the background plain white - this alone improves the perceived quality of your MOC by a lot. Adding some more contrast and saturation to the MOC itself may help, though it is not a neccessity for this one. Below is an example (before - after).
  9. Some initial suggestions: - clean the boat (remove dust with a brush, vacuum cleaner or water) - try tiles instaed of bricks for the rowing banks of the boat - the tiles on top of the house at the right side make little sense for me. If it's broken, then it's all broekn. - the diagonal light bluish grey 1x8 tile on front of the left house is a great idea, but shouldn't it be brown (wooden)? - the interior of the left side house needs a lot of work still. Try a wooden floor (brown tiles), or maybe some kind of tiled-floor pattern (e.g. a mix of dark grey and red tiles, or black and white). - the interior leaves a lot of room for very cool and creative furniture of your own (e.g. like in this tutorial - you might add a flag and some other things to the boat - some workers might be building a wooden rack already, or an entrance from the house to the water - turn the boat by about 5-10°, would seem more realistic - the lower parts of the house might show some dirt due to the water, e.g. sand green or olive green. At least they should be dark grey instead of light grey. - in the water a bird might be swimming (try to go for a brickbuilt one) - some plantish things might be floating atop the water - the facade of the house on the left especially could need more texture. Flat light bluish grey always looks a lot like concrete, why not add some 1x1 round plates inbetween to create more texture? - instead of a fully rectangular house you might try some offsets for the walls: e.g. have the corners of the house stand over a bit by using 2x2 bricks - if you increase the height of the house adding windows will do a lot I assume. If sth. is not understandable feel free to ask. I really like your idea to make sth. great of this bad event. The floating door is a fantastic detail, and the scene definitely has a lot of potential!
  10. @Mesabi: I am happy you are going for it. I have some feedback for you. I am looking forward to the next iteration of your MOC.
  11. Without reading any of the last pages' discussions, just three remarks: 1. As the player who gets hit the hardest by this (I own 2 royal properties currently) economically, I fully and 100% approve the changes. 2. The only thing I dislike is how you treated settlements: Either take all income away - so make them fully nation-controlled - or leave their autonomy and their natural income. (you may cut it by 80% or whatever, but leave sth. there. 3. The only long-term solution to fight inflation is to give us incentives to spend our money on. Like 1.500 DBs for a Royal Palace, or buying a title, or faring war, and so on. Anyway - glad that the first step has been taken. :-)
  12. A small plantation in the hinterlands of Salida Este:
  13. Wild Creek is a small river a little outside Salida Este. Its rather turbulent waters and at some parts rather flat and wide banks make for a fertile land around it. Most of that land is not used by large agricultural enterprises, like for example Fontonajo's Cotton Island, but by small individual farmers who plant maize here, carrots over there, oats on the left side and cabbage on the right side. Most of this farmland originates from the early settlement phase, where pioneers were attracted to the island, built a small hut, and while the men were trying to change the world, the women planted the fields. However while Salida Este has become a vivid town and center of commerce, the farmland was all that lasted from the pioneers' work. I played around a bit with editing and like the result. Here is a picture of the MOC in its full 32x32 fooprint without rain and clouds. I will license it as a small plantation in Salida Este. Thanks a lot to @Capt Wolf and @Kai NRG for your feedback regarding my WIPs - which helped a lot to fix all the small issues the early versions had. It is a pleasure to collaborate with you!
  14. Thank you so much for doing this one, Capt. :-) And such a wonderful job. The MOC is marvellous. And you nailed the relationship of the two. I am deeply impressed. Just wow. I hope I will be able to help again next turn.
  15. Very nice scene, like it! I love how you are staying true to the greyish Weelond-style. Nice. :-) May I hope that there is - or will be - a full version of Fort Weelond?
  16. I used powerpoint and then made a screenshot. If you don't need high resolution that works perfectly fine. :-)
  17. Seems like 2018 was my Corrish Explorer year... 15 MOCs on COR territory (8 of those from the first challenge, but still), 4 on ESL and 1 on TER. Oleon, oh Oleon - time to visit you in 2019. And you two, my dear Sea Rats. And it's about time I post my ship, finally...
  18. So maybe you should just have postponed posting THIS five days ago?
  19. When do you think you will be ready? The deadline is another 9 days, and I wouldn't mind if @Ayrlego extended the deadline by some days. Looking forward to your contribution! :-)
  20. It looks so.... durable. Like it could stand there for centuries without taking much harm. Which is fantastic. The amount of design-elements is just right. I just LOVE this architectural style. Thanks for giving me something to copy in my most recent build.
  21. Just really, really nice as usual. Fantastic tower, meeting the style you have set for port Woodhouse. Love it. Please let me know once you have found a solution for white-on-white-photography - which I know the pain of as well. :-)
  22. The Miraforma, a defense platform in the jungle. @Ayrlego: I am not sure what license type this might be other than fortification. Maybe Art&Culture, but probably not really. I leave it up to you and Myzectlan to license this build, just as we did with my last two builds in Myzectlan.
  23. And here is my third (and probably last) contribution: The Miraforma, a defense platform in the jungle.
  24. On their way back from Lake Myzec to Myzectlan, the Myzec have to traverse the dangerous jungles of Cascadia. Their century-lasting fear of the felines of Cascadia has forced them to ensure a safe passage through the jungle. Besides some active watchtowers, there are smaller fighting platforms spread all through the jungles. The Myzec call those defensive platforms "Miraforma". A Miraforma is elevated high enough so that the large carnivorous cats cannot just jump on it. A rope ladder can be reeled up, and the weapons on the platform - mainly bows, quivers with arrows and spears - give even the weakest farmers a chance to defend themselves. I felt that the fight against the felines is such an important aspect of Myzec life that I had to contribute a MOC dedicated towards it to this challenge. Also I wanted to try out some new approaches to both rocks (ok, hardly visible in the dense jungle, bot still there) and especially to plants. Some more pictures show: The empty scene without minifigures: The Myzec running towards the Miraforma: And some of my plant creations:
