Nicely done! I like how you integrated the variable wing positions!

You did an incredible job bringing this to life at minifigure scale! And the accessible pods are a great touch, I'd never thought of that before.

I love how this turned out, the girders in the middle just work for me and it feels very solid and swooshable.

This is so damn sweet looking, immediate favorite of the contest for me! The canoe usage, brickbuilt logo, shaping

The angled base of this tower really makes it feel like it was built to last. Very imposing and nicely done! -
You have been absolutely knocking it out of the park lately John, this is the kind of work I'd love to have on a nice puzzle for the holidays! The snow, the hammer arch, the different textures, so many good details!

I love the chunkiness, this certainly feels like it could survive some falling rocks or rough landings, -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Umbra-Manis replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
As someone who ran a undergrad research project comparing brown and New dark red to white and red last year, the answer is they kind of did. Brown still underperforms under shock impact loads, but is on par with white or red in bending and compression. -
[MOC] Blacktron Energy Extraction Platform
Umbra-Manis replied to Umbra-Manis's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thank you! Ah Andromeda's Gates, how I miss that game. If anything Pangolinus would be at the bottom of the ocean story-wise Thank you! Yes, that is the com array. Thank you Aanchir, I appreciate the detailed feedback! The handling crane needs a bit of a rework imo since it can't actually reach any other platforms... Thank you, it's out in some deep water! Thanks mrcp6d! Thank you! This is the second variation I've made of this fighter, updating it with newer pieces and such. You can see the whole ship in 3D here: https://mecabricks.com/en/models/BLvG6XP4jGy -
I wouldn't underestimate the creators who participate in a lot of these ideas contests, there were some incredible builds whipped up in 2 weeks for the 90th anniversary contests. Also a lot of fan contests and events are a month long.

Thank you! I never had this one as a kid, but it just sticks out as that era of catalogs for me. Thanks Ecc, and for the feature!

Thank you! Thanks, I definitely wanted to include some play features in this. -
Mmmmm cake. Nice build, especially that roof!

It was Pops down in the butler division, he truly sacrificed everything so we may have the greatest plastic toys once again.

For the 90th Anniversary Castle contest on Lego Ideas, I decided to turn to one of the more unique sets to come out of the Fantasy Era, 7041 Troll Battle Wheel. This version has 334 pieces. The model can be seen in 3D here, thanks for looking!

Large space base playsets were my early dream Lego sets, first with the Mars Mission Eagle Command Center and later the Space Police III HQ. Because of the many hours of fun I got out of those sets, I have it on my MOC list for a while to build a playset in that vein. This isn't purely designed as a Lego set so their are more complex and smooth MOC style sections but there are also plenty of studded surfaces to attach minifigures. Between the initial start build (The platform and container design) and finishing everything else was probably a 2 year gap. But, without further ado, the Blacktron Energy Extraction Platform. Features Include: Landing platform with Ghostrunner fighter Dual Arm Cargo Crane Storage Container 2 Drones 4 Crew Speeder Garage with Opening door for speeder deployment Barracks container building w/removable roof Communications Array Defense Turret Rotating Central Drill Column Fuel Transport Rail System Thanks for taking the time to look, C&C Welcome, and the model can be seen in 3D Here

I love the design of the transport with all the pods, and getting plenty of troops always makes for a fun time!
