    no, less gribling at the top of the thighs, as they were already too thick. Long legs are ok, for a Hoth diorama. With legs extended like here, they're supposed to be nearly half the height of an AT-AT, so it seems ok.

    Do kids really like those supposedly metallic colors? I hate them. Chromed pieces were nice - I suppose the problem is that they weren't durable. But no way the new metallic colors could pass for metal, I'd rather call them ice cream silver. One exception is pearl dark grey, *for small parts* where there is no stripey effect to be seen. It's then a nice uniform color in-between black & DBG, IMHO. do you mean that the marble effect is not done on purpose?

    if Lego had somehow put the rubber band -in the middle- of the wing, not only it would have been concealed & looked better, I believe it would have eliminated the front gap as well

    ..meaning that it will be possible to flatten & rotate the wings & guns like this (even if I only bother once for a picture): BlueRender is really a nice tool - takes a minute to render what would have taken a day in POVRay Sadly I can't really fit the glass panels with the smaller eyes, they collide with the side panels a little (for this same reason, my AT-ST can't fully close its eyelids, btw). Also, minifigs can't be seen (in the AT-ST, thus it'll be the same deal here), it's all black, unless you look inside with a torchlight. The only way to see the minifigs isinde would be a light brick, but I couldn't find a way to have one inside in an effective way, without taking one seat. Otherwise, it does work, I've done it in the past, and it's pretty cool to see a minifig's head light up inside a cockpit that's normally all black:

    Thanks The interior is pretty much the same as in my AT-ST, only with different consoles, and has the same problem that it can't be fully "seen". If I render it, there is no printed console, and if you open the thing to see it, you move the front hood which holds parts of the consoles, thus it simply can't be seen with the naked eye, other than by removing the side panels. ..which is why I investigated doing more interesting stuff inside, like having light bricks, but eventually I placed one on the display base (which is now done). Another idea was to control the rotation of the end wings (they rotate, I'll make a render) using a pull-back motor, but the wings are pretty busy inside for an axle through everything. Just like in my AT-ST, it seats 2:

    I don't know, IMHO Lego has too many specialized "1 big assembly mold" parts, and not enough generic ones. I was just watching Jangbricks's last review and god, even Cobi has all the nice parts. Even a brick female on both sides! Lego had what, 35 years to do this -basic- thing? I find it sad that Lego is all about the minifigs, these days. That Cobi tank, it's all built out of basic, generic parts - you would expect this system from Lego, not a competitor. Lego went the right path when they added the 1x2/3/4 curved slope bricks. Only now they should ditch the straight slope bricks & go for the same design as the curve ones, without the studs.

    Looking great. And yeah, the posing is important, more than the details. So what part of it have you glued? For the 2 bumps in the arch section, have you tried this part?

    Ah, I thought you were talking about a new part not in LBG yet. I don't understand (well, I do: Lego is more interested in molding minifig stuff) why Lego doesn't do these basic things, especially when Mega Blocks has them (& so many little parts you wish Lego had). Even as a plate, that part sucks, as it should be cut in half. I hate to see studs but I've recently learnt to accept them, because alternate methods have their drawbacks as well.

    Pretty much what Krisandkris12 wrote, that part alone will put your work in another category, but maybe you could then go further in that category & bend other rules for a better look. What are the measurements of your AT-AT legs, are you sure you can't use Technic parts? Even for yourself it'd be better, because once it's glued it's forever, and I'm pretty sure you will never be happy with your work and will wanna make many revisions - even just because new Lego parts/colors keep coming up. For an AT-ST (can we see what you did so far?) it's more understandable because its legs are very thin - that's why I chose not to care & took liberty on the legs on mine, it's not really technically doable to have thin legs AND posability for an AT-ST anyway, without bending the rules. But I don't know the metrics of an AT-AT leg, I would have expected it to be over 2 technic liftarms thick(?) Oh, and it's also possible to make very solid assemblies from lego parts, using brackets. A basic assembly that's held on its sides by plates over brackets, it's very hard to break that. what wedge tiles are you referring to, btw?

    ah.. don't do that :) All the rest seems legit (is it?), it would be a pity to be in the "cut/altered/glued" Lego category just for one little part, it always seems less impressive when there's a bit of cheating :)

    Thanks, and it's still evolving, I've changed tighs & feet very recently. I'm also supposed to be building this display stand, but my orders take their time to arrive. Think of it as the landspeeders roping the AT-AT's, only here it's man-sized. What's missing on the render is the cable that the little guy (yeah, wrong clothing - I did with what's in the LDD) is trying to circle the AT-ST with. I chose Hoth for multiple reasons, first one is that it's easier & costs less, I didn't want an Endor scene that looks too bricky. Second is that a minifig is tiny in height, while on Endor the AT-ST's don't look that big, but do on Hoth, and midget Ewoks wouldn't have helped. It's a bit hard to know where the size oddity comes from. It's not very clear whether they have the same height/leg height in the 2 movies. In SW Battlefront, they would appear to be half the height of an AT-AT, but not with the legs posed this way. If a minifig is human-tall and chubby, then it's clearly out of scale, but if a minifig is human-thick and is a midget, then it's ok.

    Here with grey plates, less batty, but still ok. But this also means that you can't use this trick to get 2-plates thick proper official Tie wings, as the interior should be all black.

    Yeah, there is already a revival of old theme through the Lego movie, and no doubt that the second will bring its load of toys. Being there in the early 80's, I too think that Benny's spaceship has everything of the legoland space theme, only improved. There are also Lego Ideas projects that you can vote for. Lego won't mass-produce something that's not for kids, and a new space theme for kids would undoubtly end up ugly like those Exo Knights. Good old space minifigs are only for us old people.

    Thanks for the comments The wings are hinged using these 2x4 plates: Of course, still a render, but 2 friction pins per segment should be enough. There are no stoppers so it'll probably be a pita to curve, but this also means that I'll be able to curve it any way I want (& also rotate the wings), and have fully flat ones. Head now has a bat-like nose and ears. I so wish Lego brought back these "better" hinges: http://www.holgermat...t-example-9.png sure, I have broken a few when I was a kid, but all Lego had to do was to make them 1/3 large fingers, instead of 3/5. The fingers broke because they were too thin. I couldn't find a proper Tie Inquisitor blueprint, but from what I see from a Hasbro toy, the wing's curve isn't symmetrical, and that would be quite hard to do in Lego, luckily I don't have to be accurate here. Edit: doh! that 2x4 hinge part, its bottom counter part exists in black, it does exist in black in the LDD, there's also an old rare mold of it in black, BUT that specific one doesn't exist in black :( I'll have to find something else or the inner part of the wings will have to be grey.

    Started as an idea at the end of my AT-ST's thread, here's a WIP of a mashup in the same vein as the cool snowspeeder/AT-ST MOC (https://www.flickr.c...157626538023574), this one is an AT-ST, a Tie (Inquisitor's), and also the Batsign, hence the fitting name! Still quite some work, it needs ears, a landing gear, etc Edit: final version:

    it looks normal, it's just a fraction of a mm off (wherever it is), making it not closable. Not the first time I see this, however here it's not closable by a large amount & looks silly.
