While I'm not sure it's nice to make fun of these, some are so bad that they might not be kids entries, but a form of trollism - sometimes I wish I knew the story behind their existence. Just like bad movies, they're so bad they're good. And hey, they're what pollutes Lego Ideas, they asked for it. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/140210 -> if you've browsed the latest batch, you probably had the same reaction as I had when you saw it. I would assume trollism, but I'm not sure. As read in the comments: "Nice job! It looks fantastic. I love the face!" https://ideas.lego.com/projects/102526 -> asking Lego to release a set on Milly Vanilly, that's fine trollism, I respect that. It also looks as bad as possible. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/103796 -> took me time to realize that the frog wasn't the mech, there is a frog inside the capsule. I quite enjoyed the MS Paint background & shadow. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/137038 -> ok this one looks bad like many, but it's the description that makes it a gem. "I came up with an UFO because I think UFOs exist. I make this UFO design to represent what it looks like." https://ideas.lego.com/projects/137258 -> Dinotrux. It's a dino, it's a truck robot! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/137259 -> picture a Rubik's cube that wouldn't move. That's the Multicube! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/139046 -> "It is based off of Thomas Edisons lightbulb." https://ideas.lego.com/projects/102456 -> I enjoyed the shot to appreciate the details of the hound from the back. Judging by the theme, made by an adult? https://ideas.lego.com/projects/138522 -> far from the worst technically, but someone made a project on Boaty McBoatFace, that's worth mentioning https://ideas.lego.com/projects/137759 -> who said you needed wheels? https://ideas.lego.com/projects/130356 -> "I was washing dishes and I saw the blades for a food processor" I didn't search very deep, there are a lot more hidden gems.

#33 - 2 (original & well done) #27 - 1 (looks pretty nice, would be better if cells were more open on all sides) #16 - 1 (fun little things) #17 - 1 (as "a line that Lego would produce", for kids, this is probably what works best. However it also looks like what hate the most from Lego - Chima, hence only 1 point)

Nice roundness on the sides of the cockpit

not -at all- ...but Lego is rumored to have an upcoming AT-ST. Will probably be ugly but sturdy. (well I didn't find the AT-DP that ugly, but the legs were thick lumps with zero posability)

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
anothergol replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Found the 6032363 horse skull for 35 cents, & the 6116470 welder's torch for 70. And still no recent part. -
I was thinking the same seeing those filled bags at New Elementary. I'm trying to find the cheapest nexo knights bots to get those new cool pieces, and I see those bags that would represent a fortune for to buy :( And if BL didn't exist, instead of 100's of euros per bag, that would represent 1000's in full sets. I don't know what Lego is thinking. It's not like MOCers would buy the sets anyway - unless it's one filled with a specific part (like, Brick Bank filled with LBG bars). I'm not paying 400eur in sets to get 20 Nexo Knight bot bodies/shoulders, that is for sure. Especially when I find the theme ugly & have no use for neon orange & metallic parts. But maybe there's another reason Lego isn't selling the parts? Who knows..

you sure? I thought new entries were added by sellers In any case, I got most of the 2016 parts I wanted through BL, while none of them has appeared at B&P yet.

because BL / Brick Owl / Bricks & Pieces (&PaB, I wonder why that one still even exists) are essentially parts shops. It totally makes sense to compare them, when you need parts these 3 are options to buy from. well it makes sense that BL isn't gonna list an item that no one offers (besides, what's good if the part is listed in B&P if it's not buyable?). But let's be honnest, BL's catalog is much much more up-to-date than Lego's own. If has never been listed on BL, chances are that it doesn't exists. Now where it does suck is for the compatibility. Different part #'s for the same part, variant molds, etc.. not easy for a beginner to find his way through that mess.

I'm pretty sure they were already available, only as the full minifigures. Less sellers split minifigures into parts. I'm still waiting for the blue shoulders from the little robots in Nexo Knights, but they are already available on BL, only you have to buy the full minifigure. Why? If I compare both: -they both make mistakes in orders. It's even the norm, for both, equally. -BL has a better service. Like, BL wouldn't charge money behind your back, you pay exactly what was billed. -BL works very well whereas Bricks&Pieces is terribroken (like you keep losing your order) & you can't even browse parts -most BL sellers actually pack better, many of them pack parts individually (less sorting), and most do protect transparent parts. Lego will put a windshield in the same bag and there are chances that it will get scratched. -Lego generally has a better shipping rate -Lego is generally more expensive for common parts, & can be less expensive for rare parts - but for a reason.. they're the ones producing the parts So if Lego was a BL shop, it wouldn't be badly rated but I don't think it would be at the top.

Yeah, paint rollers, one of the most useful parts. I bought many of them when I could. Don't expect Lego to still make them in LBG, they're only in black now. But at least they acknowledged it was a useful "part" (well, accessory, as usual) & reused it.

I find BL's inventory very good. Not only they list pretty much every single part, they also list every single printed part, and even stickered ones (which is a crazy waste of time IMHO)! To me the only, bug very big problem with BL, is that there is no giant shop that has everything, & thus that means shipping from many shops.

Interestingly, one part that's getting rare, but not expensive at all, is the DBG 44674. I love them & I buy them when I can, but stores rarely have more than 1. However there's a TON out there with prints, as 44674pb02. So if anyone knows how to remove prints from parts while preserving the part's shine (thus probably excluding brasso?), all those printed ones could be recycled. Edit: after browsing dozens of tutorials on the usual Brasso, I found out about using eucalyptus oil. Just tried it, it does seem to work, even thought the part seems to lose a bit of its shine, possibly there's some melting going on.

while I have no interest in this UCS playset, I spotted this cool part that didn't exist in LBG as not printed: ..but only 1 in an expensive set :(
-
This is huge. You should invest in a better camera to do it justice.

Thanks Yeah it's all original, even though one shares the "structure" design of these 2 others of mine: https://www.flickr.c...157660482542918 This year brought us a DBG Scala dish, I had to make a DBG one. Ah, and btw I allowed myself "floating parts" but only because the T-bar that holds the 2 bike helmets at the back Irena's mech, can't be placed in the LDD for bug reasons. It's built and fits perfectly with real parts.

There's this windshield part that I like, in the LDD: However when you BL it out there, you only find this: But the thing is, the way it's in the LDD does exist, and I've only traced it back to 1 set (so yeah, technically not a non-production part, but a production part that no one seems to know the existence of), and only in light blue. I own one of them and it was really luck. What's sad is that there must be several of them on BL, but no seller makes the difference (I've only once seen it referred to as 6152003), while it's much more useful without the bottom lip. I would love to find one in pristine condition (I have a MOC that uses it), and if it's really from the 10159 set that it comes from, which is a 2004 remake of a 1994 set (6597), it should have more chances to be found in a good state than its old version.

So it's garanteed that Brick Bank is a D2C? I really thought it was a limited-time exclusive, and that it'd appear in other shops, just like all the other modulars. Wasn't the Detective Office initially exclusive to Lego's shop as well? I remember I couldn't find it anywhere, and bought it in one of the few third-party Lego shops (which too have Brick Bank, but even more expensive). Now the Detective Office is pretty much everywhere. Sucks if I have to pay 20eur more (even though it's still a good enough price) for it than in my neighbor country, only because I can't buy from that country's Lego shop.

Btw, here I've replaced the leg's by a . Ideally the angle should be right in-between, for the post that's in most models out there. But I think it looks better with that one. I also have a design ready for these, but there is still no sign of them in LBG, not even in the next SW sets :(

Should flick fires be discontinued?
anothergol replied to Takanuinuva's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Here, as an adult, I like stud shooters. Mainly because those look good, even used for other purposes. But they also work pretty well and I'm sure I would have loved them as a kid. -
Yeah that's the whole point. If Lego produces a big lot, it needs the reseller part, and that's exactly what BL is about. Sure, Lego already has both: -Lego Ideas for the crowd-business part -Bricks&Pieces (& PAB) for the reselling part ..but I can't imagine Lego bothering with new parts in B&P when they don't even have their latest parts there. And certainly a new part color would be more expensive. But only the last ones available would be overexpensive, because economy. It's better than not having the part at all. It could also work the other way & make existing rare parts less expensive. Like those bloody technic small bushes in black that cost up to 10eur.
-
Anyone knows if Lego would be open to produce special colors in not-so-big batches, in this era of crowdfunding/crowd-everything? I mean, I can imagine a new "vote for a part" section at BrickLink, after enough votes, it gets produced & sold to BL sellers.
-
But are they REALLY D2C? I mean, to me the Brick Bank isn't "out" yet. If all other modulars have been available outside the Lego shop, I expect the same from Brick Bank - which I love and I plan to buy, but there is NO way I'm gonna pay 170eur for a set that my neighbor in Germany can get for 150eur. If Lego really expects that, they're silly. And yeah I understand "the market is smaller, blah blah", but Lego: just close the Belgian Lego shop & ship your stuff from Germany (which wouldn't even cost 6eur) then. In that spirit, I'm really thankful to Amazon & TRU that they don't have online presence in Belgium. The Batman & Ghostbusters sets: I like them, but for the budget they require they aren't amazing enough IMHO. The Batman one should have been cut in half, half of it is boring. Assault on Hoth: let's not beat a dead horse. The Village: probably reserved to die-hard MineCraft players because to me all those sets look the same.
