  1. Now we know why the development of the marketplace side of BL is so, er…. (I relayed that info on the BL’s forum, where nothing has been announced. As always.)
  2. Er, on your picture, the golden spire is made of gold 1x3 tiles, not 1x1 round plates (the ldr is correct).
  3. or below it, or on its side, and if you move the model, shake the model, play with the model
  4. About parts: my own most expected parts list was well reduced. So YMMV as they say About features: LEGO has long said LDD was discontinued. Parts update are all that can be expected now. And even that was in question before 4.3.9 came, and still in doubt before 4.3.10 (was 4.3.9 the swan song?).
  5. I think you misunderstand what the hinge tool is supposed to do. The tool works on existing hinges, rotating them so that the selected connectors connect. On the picture below, I selected the hole on the blue beam first and I’m hovering over the green pin on the right (green arrows are transparent). If I click/select the green pin, the tool will rotate the hinges made by the red pins so that the green pin fit in the selected hole in the blue beam. The parts will rotate and click if possible. If not, the arrows around the second connector will turn red and the parts will move back. (Actually, the assembly above can’t connect because the upper corner’s rotation is limited. ) Beware, often, the hinge-tool also moves and rotates the whole assembly (it’s not “flat on the ground” anymore).
  6. You select the second point the same way you select the first. If you can’t, it’s because there’s no hinge between the points (or the hinge is blocked). If you still have problems, try to link to a picture so we can see the problem.
  7. Yes. Not easy with a big model. Moreover, if the part is already in a “known by LDD” color, you’ll have to change its color twice. For example, whith a part that exists only in blue and red (according to LDD), if it’s in red, when you try to paint it, only blue is shown (because you can’t repaint it in red). So you have to paint it blue to see if red is available. (Whereas, if it were in the not-available green, red and blue would have been proposed.) Besides, there are errors both ways: parts available in some colors in LDD/real life that actually aren’t available in real life/LDD. And the newest parts aren’t available, so not colorable, in LDD mode. For a finished model, you can convert it to LDraw and then import it in BrickStock: no image and no price means the part doesn’t exist in that color (or is so rare you wouldn’t find it anyway). I think the least-effort way is to verify while building. I always have a BrickLink tab open for that
  8. Some people have had success in, either or both: Going through rebrickable.com. Converting to LDraw first (using this conversion file ) and then using BrickStock to convert to BrickLink. Beware that, any way you do it, decorations/patterns are lost in translation (which is not a problem for this model but could be in the future).
  9. Even if it were, it wouldn’t be appropriate to talk about it here: Modify or hack LDD software (including adding homemade bricks or decorations) We don't encourage or provide support for this, as this kind of things violates LDD EULA. So please don't ask how to hack or modify LDD software and don't open new topics about that. Anyway you can discuss that subject or ask for new features for LDD in the proper topics listed in the Section Index thread. in http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/69717-section-rules/
  10. The subparts files (named XXXs01.dat) go in the parts/s directory. All parts that are in LDD are available for LDraw. A bunch in the LDraw Unofficial Library and about a thousand at digital-bricks.de (no subparts there, they are a direct translation from LDD, without using LDraw primitives, like studs with logo).
  11. Update 2016-10-19 Added: 24131 / 24131.dat Figure Friends Party Hat
  12. Indeed, it doesn’t seem to connect to anything…. You’ll have to use another part: Place the book and, for example, a plate on the “ground,” select both parts (ctrl+click, area-select, or use the second selection tool, the arrow with the +), and grab and connect the plate wherever you want, the book will follow (and then float next to the plate). You can then remove the plate/other part. You can also fine tune the position with a clip on a bar: select the book and the clip, move the clip along the bar. Rotating is a bit harder. You can use the auto-rotation of LDD: if you rotate the helping part, it will “rotate back” when you connect it, rotating the book in the process. As for F1, it should open a page in your browser. HTH

  14. Just a well oiled machine now, and less impressive than your part thoughput By the way, your version of the tassel has been added too: 25375 / 25375-f1.dat Tassel Hanging from Top
  15. Update 2016-10-10b Added: 23444 / 23444.dat Bar 6 x 3 with 4 Studs 24482 / 24482.dat Spike 2.4L with 4 Fins with Bar 0.4L
  16. Update 2016-10-10 Added: 20841 (assembly) / (20841.dat + 23816.dat) Electric Power Functions 2.0 Tilt Sensor 20844 (assembly) / (20844.dat + 23816.dat) Electric Power Functions 2.0 IR Distance Sensor 21980 (assembly) / (59146.dat + u9327c01 + 23816.dat) Electric Power Functions 2.0 Medium Motor
  17. You can export LDraw to POVRay (or other formats) to render them. But LDraw is parallel to LDD. It’s a file format used to create virtual LEGO models. Exporting from LDD to LDraw enables you to use the many LDraw tools: model editors (with a lot more parts than LDD), instruction manual creators, model generators…. It’s not only about better renders.
  18. No, even though you can export LDraw to POVRay afterward, I’m not talking about POVRay, I’m talking about LDD’s LDraw import/export feature (see this thread ). Since 4.3.9, flexible parts aren’t imported/exported anymore, even unflexed. They were in 4.3.8. Nonetheless, it’s not actually a problem because the only parts that gained flexibility weren’t im/exportable either (“Outercables”) and the other tubes, strings, belts, and rods are still not flexible (Spiral Tube w. Flange, the so well named Flex Tube 12M, Flex Rods 14M, 16M, 19M…).
  19. Brickset lists them as “Categories” in their database (but that doesn’t help with LDD ). Otherwise, they are in the .lif. And, actually, it appears that LDD merges multiple categories under each of its icons. So, describing the icon might be the easiest way after all I think we have all known that feeling once or twice Dang! That also means they won’t be importable/exportable to LDraw anymore. BrickLink has it under the name “Scorpion Tail.” Used in the “Scorpion” Minifig (super villain or something).
  20. There’s still your backup. Because, of course, you have a backup…. Sad way to learn to keep a copy of your work, especially when you put it next to an auto-updating application.
  21. Huh? Not here. They are still assemblies. And heads can have faces.
  22. Nope, they were all there before (“motor icon” is actually the “Electric Parts” category, and “tail fin icon,” “Transportation Means, Vehicles”). Superkalle’s picture contains all the new parts in 2248 (ditto for previous pictures for previous updates). It’s rather easy to verify in the .lif.
  23. Update 2016-10-06 Added: 18854 / 18854.dat Figure Friends Sunglasses with Pin 96488 / 96488.dat Figure Friends Hand Mirror with Heart on Reverse All 4.3.10–2248 parts are now available from Digital Bricks. Every part is (again) exportable/importable. (To be clear, transformations are for the (un)official LDraw versions, when they exist. The Digital Bricks parts are a workaround solution, a “second choice.” Transformations may not work for the DB versions when the parts are in LDraw Official and Unofficial Parts Libraries as I adjust the transformations for the LDraw versions as soon as I’m aware of their existence (a few hours).)
  24. Eh, I just realized that there’re always complaints about missing Bionicle or Hero Factory or Constraction or whatever, but never about Friends….
  25. 2736 isn’t a “Technic towball,” it’s a “System towball on a Technic Axle” As such, it fits newish 14704, 14418, 14419, 63082, 98263, and older 3730, and 3183. It can also connect between two horizontal clips (such as the clips of 60470), but it’s not recommended as towball connections are vertically centered with the middle of a plate whereas clips are vertically offset (between the middle of a plate and the top of the plate), so the two parts wouldn’t be “in system.” HTH
