Location: F10 Arium Major Tags: Land Vehicle, Civil Building, Spaceship, Spying, Stealth Ship Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // I decided that I wanted to try and bring Dr. Norah over to Octan. This was going to be tricky and I was glad to have the Ter Tahls help if needed. First I needed to get her to Arium Major! I contacted her and said that I'd found something very interesting and asked her to come and see it for herself. She replied that she wasn't a field specialist and that if I gave her the coordinates she would send a Mantis special forces team to come investigate. I immediately felt nervous and my mind raced, and I blurted out: "You really need to come in person. By yourself." I immediately cringed since it sounded so odd and I was sure she would wonder why I was saying that. To my utter surprise she said "OK, I'll come." Must have been the forceful tone of my voice! She said that she would obtain a small fighter and make her way to Arium Major. I gave her the coordinates of a well hidden Ter Tahls base and they cleared out to give me space to try and initially approach her and talk about coming with me to Octan. If she wasn't receptive the Ter Tahls would help relocate her to Octan and keep her safe. I knew she would be happier working for Octan so it was the right choice. Once she arrived I found myself relieved to see her in front of me safely and as I helped her down from the small fighter I suddenly realized this was real. Here she was in front of me and I was going to have to tell her I worked for Octan and that I wanted her to leave Mantis. The two small scooters I'd brought were sitting nearby waiting for us to head off and give me my chance to talk to her. It felt like I was about to take a step out of a spaceship without knowing if my suit was properly sealed! Knowing it was the best thing for her gave me the confidence I needed though. I asked her if she was ready and she replied that she was. I mustered my courage and as we got onto the scooters I said: "OK. Lets go..." Overhead: From the Side: The backdrop and smaller builds: Glamour Shot (note the landing gear after Luc Byard nicely called me out for not doing it last week) -- hopefully Mantis feels I did them justice on a properly armed ship!

That is a good point. When I think Kashyyk there isn't much from what I remember in the movies that would set it apart from another planet absent the Wookies. Similarly Endor was filmed in the redwood forests of California, but really it isn't much different from most forests. So my hope is that there is some degree of flexibility here. I'm not sure how, aside from including Ewoks, you make Endor distinctly Endor. Even Lothal from the Rebels show is not much different from Coruscant at the street level.

OK, so planets already controlled by a faction don't really contribute much for this challenge. Do we have a list of planets NOT under control? Because I see a list of ones that are but no master list of total planets, so the only way to do the differential is to look at the map and list all the planets and then subtract out the ones under control.

And corp mark for our illustrious leader pombe.

Bob, can we please buy a Liquefactor Core for medium.

Love the facility! Both interior and exterior are excellent. Nice work with the train too, the whole thing has a very scifi movie feel to it. Seems many within Octan have odd powers going on they are struggling to understand and control.

Some great microscale ships. I sure hope we see hombre again before AG1 ends!

Uh, Bob I think you missed our fleet movement message from the secret thread.

Fantastic drone and I love the non-matching repaired leg, great touch! The little speeder is well designed also. I like the scenery too, well balanced with the rock work and foliage. Plus the traditional Octan scorpion!

Yeah, I wanted to do the landing gear but just couldn't figure it out. I have started thinking of an Octan V2 of this... I'm grateful for praise from one of my favorite "enemy" builders.

Wow, great telescope. I actually never would have thought of that! I don't have the big clear piece you do, but I am sure I could find something to use!

I think this is the first spaceship I've done that came out how I wanted it. Sadly I realize that there are small details I spent a good deal of time on that aren't visible. I have cheese slopes between the engine and the body at the bottom that you can't see, greebling behind the front air deflector thing, etc. Plus a full cockpit. I either need to take better pics or spend less time obsessed in the details. Oh, and I was watching a lot of stuff on Netflix about WWII era planes when building this, so that was certainly the influence.

Location: F10 Arium Major Tags: Land Vehicle, Civil Building, Spaceship, Spying, Stealth Ship Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // After my successful work in helping Dr. Norah with her investigation into the Tropic Thunder she was clearly excited to continue to have me assist. She asked that I go do some analysis of the Kawashita presence on Arium Major. I was to obtain a ship and go there as quickly as possible, which normally would have worried me but my recent luck with Kawashita personnel made me a bit more comfortable. I went out to the spaceport and asked around until I found someone in charge and then just said that I was from corporate and needed a spaceship. These Kawashita people must be really into following corporate orders because he offered me several options. I decided on a very fast ship to try and get there as quickly as possible. It was a Warhawk class ship, a heavy fighter with great speed and two heavy cannons in the front. It wasn't particularly agile with the ship intended to use the speed, armor, and heavy cannons to inflict damage and get away. As I lifted off I simply pointed it at the proper coordinates and pushed the throttles full forward and watch the distance counter rapidly scroll towards zero. Arium Major was a planet I was very familiar with, having spent a good deal of time there with my friends the Ter Tahls. Once in Arium Major space I sent them a message and headed for a secret landing platform they had. It was a bit risky since I would be flying in a heavily armed Kawashita ship, but I had to trust that they would believe me. After the ship settled I jumped out to find Tor Tuss waiting for me. He had come on a motorized scooter piloted by a droid, something for which I suspect I might have had an influence after describing all the ways Octan utilized robotic workers instead of human ones. He was very happy to see me again, despite my peculiar clothes and ship choice. I quickly caught him up on my work at Mantis and now Kawashita. He was surprised at how much I had changed since we had last seen each other, but was glad that I was safe and had trusted the Ter Tahls enough to come to them. I explained about Dr. Norah and how I wanted to extract her back to Octan with me. He offered his help in any way that it was needed. In fact, he came up with a very good suggestion that I contact Dr. Norah and tell her that I had found something on Arium Major and that it required her to come in person, because they didn't know about the Ter Tahls I could direct her to one of their hidden compounds and then they would help me get her to safety. While there were certainly risks, I did want to bring her to Octan... Overhead shot: Landing Platform: The fighter: Attempt at a Glamour Shot:

Awesome, love the facial expressions you selected. I like the simpleness of the walls because it makes the activity and blue tower more prominent. The overall design is nice with the observation room up high and the various elements spread throughout. My favorite part was the area where they removed the tiles to gain access to the problem, has a very real feel to it.

Love the look and tone of the pictures. The purple and pink color splashes have such impact! Love the lighthouse and ship, not completely sure on the yellow on the ship personally, but the whole thing is really well built.

Periodically in our secret Octan thread we talk about stuff like Droneuary and Novvember and trying to get people to build for that. One thing that might be kinda cool with the new every 2 week format is to have a "challenge" each month like those and if you post a build during the month that meets that theme you get credits or something. It might also help inspire some building and could be a fun source of competition that also may be something that people were already building for.
