  1. This is log cabin is beautiful. Awesome construction technique :-) it's just looks so perfect.
  2. Hmmm I am not sure about order, but I do my best science while screaming...
  3. Mmmm nice ship, I wouldn't mind one of those in my collection. You can find the tutorial by searching for flickr in Help and info forum. The first 3 pics give you all the info you need to embed the images, not sure if it helps for the mobile uploading, but you can always edit your posts later. Welcome to Eurobricks btw.
  4. I feel like I can hear the minifigs screaming as they jump into the water to abandon ship, I bet mine are goners.
  5. Um the drop in oil price is definitely, definitely a global phenomena, not just a US one. I am not sure about raw materials. However, energy prices (I guess in terms of manufacturing) are something lego is concerned about and does play a big in their business strategy. As such they have hedged against rising prices by investing in danish oil/energy companies in order to protect themselves against the rising costs of energy (this has been in place for a couple of years and was not something introduced in the current Oil climate) But if oil prices are falling so are energy costs are currently falling (it may be wind farms that they invested in I can't remember without checking)? Maybe Lego is actually making short term loses there, no idea.. I read last year's annual report (out of curiosity), I have not looked in detail at this recent one. Anyway its an interesting topic, I believe, although this is speculation, backed up with no hard facts, that lego has had good relationships with a number of oil companies over the years, but their dedication to the environment and sustainability may drive them to look at new ways of manufacturing lego and perhaps they aim to step away from reliance on fossil fuel based plastic in the very long term. Anyway there are probably other considerations to take into account like changes in currency markets due to oil prices etc, I really doubt its as simple as oil prices go down, price of producing lego goes down.
  6. I still haven't got the laser mech... I've virtually stopped looking and have started blind buying again, there isn't much in this line up that I wouldn't want a multiple of (at least one part of every figure is kinda useful), although I might hit a tipping point soon.
  7. These have got to be the cutest of the micro ships, and we get to see them in a full on cannon battle too :-)
  8. Such a lot of detail (and so many characters). I particularly like the cracks in the harbour walls and the floating seaweed, looks fab.
  9. Thanks for the comments, I've added a few more photos, but please forgive my dodgy photoshop skills, I'm a bit rusty with it. Well thanks, but I think/hope we will see a lot more entries to come :-) There's nothing under the fort yet, I mean there is definitely room for a prisoner or two, but that was not the purpose of placing gates and its not intended as a prison. I guess the fort is built on limestone (probably an old carbonate reef, situated on a volcanic sea mount or something, that is now above the present sea level), and there is a natural cave system in the rock, it was there when we arrived. The Corries have not explored it yet and the locked gate was just to prevent unwanted invadors using it as a weak point, hopefully there is enough firepower to stop someone entering the caves, but who knows.
  10. Maybe its all a massive conspiracy and they purposefully leak the images for a couple of days to test the market reaction and build the responses into their planning? Or maybe they just don't want people pre-judging their product months before its available as it destroys the hype and they feel they lose consumer interest. Maybe they just wanted to shut down the negativity for fear of it spreading to the kids... who knows, but we all got a sneak peak and hopefully eurobricks and co didn't get it in the neck too much.
  11. I wish for a doctor who minifigure set... its probably going to be Disney though? That makes more sense.
  12. He has a fez in the 50th anniversary special too. He chucks it through that wibbly-wobbly time portal thingy.

  14. Apologies for double posting but I have a newly built fort for Corrington. I have not settled on the location, so if there is anyway in need of a fort then I can build it there. In its current state I think it fulfills the requirements of a 16x16 fort as the three building have roughly that footprint, but I think it will need rebuilding or extending to upgrade to a larger fort, however there is room for expansion. 15. “Well?” “Well, what? It’s a tree house.” Sir James and Lieutenant Watton were surveying the newly erected belltower. “Well with limited materials…” Lieutenant Watton tailed off; the bell tower had been constructed quickly, it was important to get an early warning of approaching ships. The waters had become increasingly hostile and these new lands must be defended against the upstart pretentions of the other colonies, even the sea rats were pushing their luck these days. “My younger brothers have better treehouses, back in Corrington.” Sir James continued, “We had the best of the Corrington fort builders in the new world working for four and twenty days and this is what they came up with?” Yes, thought the Lieutenant, he had wondered about the choice of Corrington builders, but on this occasion chose to remain quiet on the subject, instead he said. “I think the men would prefer to be at sea Sir James”. “Well so would I, you know it, but Queen Annette has hundreds of miles of coastline to defend from the Oleonders and we have been tasked with this section. What am I going to tell the other Captains when they see this ram-shackled collection of outposts?” “You could tell them the location is good. But truly, I’d be surprised if they have built much more substantial fortification at this time, it is very early days. Merryweather Lumberjacks, in Port Raleigh has been working overtime to meet the demand for timber in the area. Ship building is at an all time high you know, and maintaining the fleet is top priority. We had to trade the last of the rum to just to secure the wood we got for the treehou- I mean belltower.” “Last of the rum? That is serious.” Sir James frowned, making a mental note to fix the rum supply as well as everything else. “Okay I suppose we could show them the new lens for the lighthouse. It is top of the range, latest scientific advances in lighthouse technology. Amplifies the light more than 10 times you know.” “Yes Sir, its very good Sir” the Lieutenant was ever so slightly sick about hearing this marvelous technology, it was hard enough to get the damned thing up the tower. Just then a messenger came with hurriedly up to Sir James, coughing to announce his presence and before either the Lieutenant or Sir James could react he began to speak. “Sir James I have a urgent message, you have been asked to attend immediately at in Arlinsport” As the Lieutenant watched Sir James stride off into the distance, thinking that could have gone worse when one of the guards came rushing up to him. “Lieutenant, the cat’s got stuck in the bell tower again.” Fort, on Flickr MainFort, on Flickr SirJamesFort, on Flickr Fort3, on Flickr (I'll add more photos later - Done)
  16. I'd even seen that pic before, clearly I am just not very observant of the details, I missed the central feature.
  17. Just out of interest, now that the annual report has been released, is there any way of dissecting it to see how well pirates sold? Maybe I am not report savvy enough to find the data, but I can't see enough of break-down in the figures to judge if pirates sold well or not. Sales were up in general and pirates were not in the top 5 sellers (The Disney Frozen castle being number one), so hopefully they weren't a complete flop, but maybe other themes outperformed? They seemed to have missed out the convenient themes summary I was hoping for :-(
  18. I like the use of micro figs in the fountain, would be nice to see it in situ with the rest of your Quinnsville Village :-)
  19. hahahaha :-) I already have Flounder from the small princess set. I think I will need to get Sebastien (not going to buy a whole set to get him though) and I just found out my god daughter had the ariel princess set on her christmas list, but had already been bought a different set, so I think I will also be a good god parent (for a change) and collect the entire Disney series to give to her.
  20. Not sure about that, I re-watched the cheshire cat scenes in the film and while he does lounge about on that branch, he also walks on two feet in the scene and so its not a massive stretch to have him as a minifigure. My guess, hope even, is that Lego would stick to animal characters who are predominantly bipedal. But who knows what will happen next...
  21. I feel like I'm learning about/solidifying my Corrington history reading this, good incorporation of the backstory, any chance you've landed on our not-yet-named-newly-picked-island, number 2? Enjoy the feast! (oh yes and I like the chief's appearance on his throne) :-)
  22. I am warming up to brick built sails, I think these look really good. Not sure about the cannon placement, but having tried it myself, I know its a struggle in those smaller hulls.
  23. Ahem... while your information is not entirely incorrect, your timeline is out. The British love affair with gin was initially an anti French/Catholic countries movement encouraged by the King of the time between 1700s to 1760s. Gin evolved a bastardised version of the Dutch genever and drinking gin meant the Brits weren't importing the wine etc. Without regulation, everyone was making the stuff in their bathtubs and it contained a lot of nasty poisons, leading to the nickname mother's ruin and scene like that of the infamous Gin Lane. This crisis was solved by some proper regulation and all was well with gin again. However the medical use of gin came later in the time of East India Trading Company in the mid nineteenth century. Quinine powder was taken medically by the British army stationed in India, but since its a bitter power it was mixed wit sugar water to make a tonic and taken with gin to mask the taste. And it was this use of gin that lead to the many successes, long after the Gin lane debacle. If the disease on the second island bares any resemblance to Malaria, undoubtably Corrington will need to find a source of quinine to and use our scientific prowess to isolate the active ingredient from the bark. And I am sure none of our faction will abuse the pleasures of a G and T. Yours, Sir James William Chase.
  24. haha well Skandia is the name of my bank, but sure I like the idea of naming something after Ska. Oh and I was think we need the stats on when people are posting, correlated to how many comments they get, to optimise our posts in the lull periods, or the comment sweet spots depending on what the numbers say. Or Captain Dee's way is better more taxation!!
  25. I like where this story is going, glad to see Amara got her own ship! Its a cute little build, I like the way you've built the cannon at the back, but I think the pirate flag is flying in the wrong direction? (I googled it, it really depends on whether you are sailing in the same direction as the wind, so as you like it).
