LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion
Scarilian replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
So my current total is roughly 30 Nexo Knights polybags - this is over 150 shields... yet i'm still missing one shield. Is it just me, or is anyone else having difficulty locating their missing shields? I believe we saw him on display riding the included badguy vehicle. His name is 'Lord Krakenskull' and he's arguably the only thing that interests me in this wave. Shall probably Bricklink him. -

In terms of scaling you should ideally try and look for pieces that could not be scaled down in order to judge the size/scale. With Kai's mech, there is no smaller variant of the curved pieces used for the 'toes' of the mech. The only other smaller piece would be too small to be in-scale with a figure. As such it winds up being one of the larger sets. With Nya's, the main focal point would be the legs - the pieces used for the legs have no smaller versions, so they could scale down everything but the legs would have to use that piece. With Cole's, you judge based on the wheel size the type/size of wheel will determine the overall size/scale. ===== Though looking at Kai's Mech, its going to be really odd that his mech will be so much larger than Lloyd's Dragon. Was'nt the D2C POTC set also revealed at Toy Fair? If so, that means they do occasionally show D2C's. -
I suppose the main trouble is that originally a figure with just a head print and potentially torso print would have satified people, however with progress of printing and the expansion to giving leg prints and others, people want the figures to be as exclusive and detailed as possible. It now looks strange for a figure not to have leg printing - and when everything is printed except for the arms there is a yearning to have an arm print so that it looks/feels like a complete figure. With the original GOTG sets, there was a way to do this so that you'd have fully printed Drax, Gamora, Rocket and Starlord - this time around it does not appear to be possible primarily due to the lack of compatible designed arms and legs.

LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion
Scarilian replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Back in September i believe we had a list of the 2017 Ninjago movie sets with two letters next to them to hint to what they contained. I cant find the original source, but they were reposted here. We then recieved confirmation on several of the set numbers and pricing for the sets via a retail website - sinqel. Around this time we recieved word that several of the sets were exclusive including the Shark set - this led to the belief that the missing three sets were going to be exclusives or D2C's. The names hinting towards the 70610 (Shark?), 70616 (Zane's tank?) and 70620 NC being exclusives. Shortly after that we recieved rumours that 70620 was a D2C. NC was later taken to mean Ninjago City however with Kevii23 recently claiming it to be the Destiny's Bounty, if accurate, it probably means that NC was meant to refer to 'Ninja Command' or something similar to imply their base of operations. Admittedly it is a guess that 70620 is the D2C. However, it is very likely that those mssing from the sinqel retailer are exclusives as it would be odd for a retailer not to stock all of the new sets - especially with a well-selling theme like Ninjago. -

First a couple of thoughts; - Lloyd's Dragon seems a bit on the cheap side - Kai's mech looks like a reasonable scaled down version Updating this list; *Blue's are exclusives *Red's have images and all details listed for them are confirmed. 70606 GA - €9.99 70607 TT - €19.99 70608 SA - €34.99 70609 MP - €34.99 70610 JS 70611 SC - €44.99 70612 Green Ninja Mech Dragon (Lloyd's Dragon) - €54.99, 544 pieces, at least three figures (Lloyd, Sensei Wu and Garmadon + additional figures?) 70613 NW - €69.99 70614 JJ - €69.99 70615 (Kai's Mech) - €79.99, 6 minfigures (Kai, Zane, Male citizen, female citizen, shark suit villain, jellyfish bowl villain) 70616 ZT 70617 BS - €109.99 70618 ?? - €169.99 70620 - $300 USD (Kevii23 claimed this set to be the Destiny's Bounty, though rumours believe this to be the Ninjago City) Juniors Ninjago Movie set (Confirmed by Just2good) 71019 CMF Ninjago Movie Polybags -
If arm and leg printing then can probably forgive the lack of print on Vulture Not really... most the GOTG 2 heroes are terribly represented with lack of arm and leg print. The heroes are also not the reason that many buy the sets. Often as is the case with Spider-man Homecoming, you will get the hero in multiple different sets meaning you have a bunch of them. For example in this line-up of Homecoming sets we get two of the same Spider-man figures and we already had a very similar design (other than the Spider accuracy) for Civil War - so nobody is really too impressed in seeing a very similar figure. Plus heroes return, meaning chances are high we'll get a new version of a majority of the heroes for Infinity War. Villains however often get killed off and never represented in Lego form - as its rare for the villains to pass over from movie to movie.

Hela's Helmet looks alright, though i am fairly sure they may go with the comic version of her helmet where it does not cover the front of her face. If they do this in the movie then the helmet is very innacurate because it'll cover her face. We'll see how it turns out. No interest in Loki - Marvel really made his design generic and unappealing for Ragnarok. Depending on the sets, i may just get the two Thor variants and Hela (Depending on what happens with the Helmet as mentioned above).

It's either very succesful or they produced a limited amount/takes a while to make the sets. We'll see how it turns out. If these are very succesful we could see future POTC sets if we get a POTC 6

Maybe, though the movie is a prequel - so this suit is presumably what she wore in the past - and it darkened with age. Continuity wise, it'd make more sense for the Justice League representation to have the darker looking costume she had in BvS for that reason.

I think a lot of the figures suffered this year, The Lego Batman movie seemed to get the better figures, a majority having arm and leg print. A lot of the Marvel figures also suffered this year with lack of leg printing or what looked like cheaper printing compared to what we've seen before. We still had exceptions such as Spider-man, but many lacked printing on legs or arms where it was honestly needed. Perhaps they are skimping on the Wonder Woman set because we'll get a different version of her in the Justice League sets?

Will probably be a pass from me. They have'nt fixed the tone of Wonder Woman's lips, and the lighter coloured costume looks odd. Steve Trevor is basically just a torso piece with a generic face and Superman hair. Ares looks like he's built in the same way to Giant-Man from the Civil War sets, other than the skull helmet - guess that those are stickers.

Realised i missed part of my comment, so added it in. First, adding to the list with the other stuff; 70606 GA - €9.99 70607 TT - €19.99 70608 SA - €34.99 70609 MP - €34.99 70610 JS 70611 SC - €44.99 70612 LD - €54.99 70613 NW - €69.99 70614 JJ - €69.99 70615 KM - €79.99 70616 ZT 70617 BS - €109.99 70618 ?? - €169.99 70620 NC Juniors Ninjago Movie set (Confirmed by Just2good) 71019 CMF Ninjago Movie Polybags * Numbering of 70619 as the polybag was taken from Brickset, it may not be accurate, however it may explain the missing number in the sequence. * The blue one's are likely retailer exclusives/D2C's given they do not match with any of the prices on the site. Now to speculate on which retailer exclusives/D2C's they are; - 70610 JS is probably the retail exclusive shark - 70616 ZT is probably Zane's Tank and would likely be another retailer exclusive - 70620 NC is potentially the rumoured Ninjago City and would'nt have a price match due to it being a D2C set These would probably be the 'Ninja's vehicles, all kept within a fairly close price-range - and the most expensive listing would be for the Destiny's Bounty; - 70611 Cole's - 70612 Lloyd's - 70613 Nya's - 70614 Jay's - 70615 Kai's - 70616 Zane's - 70618 would likely be the new Destiny's Bounty set 70606 and 70607 would be two non-vehicle small playsets, one being based off a Ninja training area. As for anything else, unsure at the moment. -

If Ninjago City does not exist or is a D2C and the retailer exclusive Shark set would not be listed... it would mean that we have an unidentified set somewhere in that list. -

Just wondering when the images would be revealed? as i doubt they'll appear with this site. Just a quick speculation based on the reports from earlier about which sets we were getting - the Shark Mech is retailer exclusive as confirmed by Just2good meaning that it likely would'nt be one of the prices listed. 1 - €169.99 - Ninjago City 2 - €109.99 - Destiny's Bounty 3 - €79.99 - Lloyd's Dragon 4 - €69.99 - Nya's Mech 5 - €69.99 - Zane's tank 6 - €54.99 - Cole's Mech 7 - €44.99 - Kai's Mech 8 - €34.99 - Jay's flyer 9 - €34.99 - Manta-Ray flyer 10 - €19.99 - Ninja Dojo/training/base 11 - €9.99 - Small non-vehicle playset Fairly sure based on reports that the position of the top and bottom three are close to accurate, but the other Ninja's vehicles could fluctate - though having them spaced out around €34.99 - €79.99 does make sense. I've listed the Ninjago City as i'm fairly sure it'll happen even though i dont think its been confirmed yet... Including the recently mentioned Junior's set and the Shark Mech this would have the total as 13 sets in the Ninjago movie theme so far. -
While its true for larger than life characters such as supervillains, we should remember that parents have rejected sets simply for including guns in the past. To be fair we'll probably get something about this size or slightly larger for Infinity War. Perhaps a 'Milano Vs Quinjet Aerial Battle' or something similar. Though thats getting ahead of ourselves. Pretty much this ^ Certain little touches such as how the bit of debris in the cheapest set matches the size/scale of the Milano in the largest set are nice i suppose and i think it may be in-scale with the vehicles in the previous sets, though wont know for sure until the movie... Just as others have mentioned, not a fan of them introducing a vehicle set and then re-doing that vehicle set for the next movie. I'm concerned when GOTG 3 rolls around in 2020 that we'll see another Milano... :/

Any kid who sees the movie would want the set with the bad guys in - and chances are parents would want to buy the set that does not contain armed robbers. Especially with the minimal price increase. While its nice having a cheaper set to get Spider-man its a bit redundant when the next set up is only going to be about £5-10 more expensive and have Iron Man, Shocker, Vulture and Spider-man instead of Spider-man and two thugs. No, i was not talking solely about AFOL's - kids also collect or buy sets for the figures. The entire Batman and Iron Man variants only happened because of kids buying the sets with varied figures, the idea of having every member of a team or every variant is the precise reason that Lego space out the figures over different sets. In regards to AFOL's though - they are a big enough market for exclusive figures or sets at SDCC - and Lego have even started to do AFOL only competitions and target AFOL's more.

I remember several people avoiding purchasing sets previously because the figures were subpar. Not everyone buys sets due to the vehicles - many people nowadays buy sets for the figures and view the builds as a nice addition because after a week or so they end up just dismantling the builds. Licensed themes especially have a larger following for the figures than the builds. The Spider-man Homecoming Bank Robbery set to me is an easy pass primarily because of the skimping on the figures. The Spider-man figure is great but i'd be getting it in the other set that has Iron Man, the main villain and the side villain. As such i'd only be buying the set for a bland building and two out of four of the characters needed to replicate the trailer scene - so its not worth getting the set. If they had included two alternative heads for the other masks then i may have brought it - but by skimping they lost a sale.

Hope the build goes well :) Shall do. Have a few fixes planned. The earliest will probably be repairing various segments of the current model. At the moment working on the cabin, the railings and the golden spires :P The much longer project will be expanding the model's size to suit minifigures.

Just finished The Silent Mary, easily the longest build i've done primarily because it was incredibly frustrating to build. The asymetrical design plus the lack of knowledge as to which parts this set has 'spare' meant that i was constantly double checking myself. It is incredibly annoying to build and i'm still unsure if the parts i have left are meant to be spare, i followed the instructions and checked multiple times yet i'm left with parts that i feel were supposed to be included in the set. I also found that for some strange reason some of the parts were in different bags - the majority were correct but one or two plates were in earlier bags even though they were not included until later - and i'm certain there was nowhere else for them to go until then. Going through the build process i noticed several times that it asks to build multiples of a part and i feel this is a bit cheap on specific segments, the four towers at the back for example all have the same damage on the lower segment because they are all the same design, just turned slightly. The finished build is quite impressive, its slightly longer than the box it is packaged in - though it is the same size as the box in height when the middle mast is put ontop as the box instructs. Removing the steering wheel helps immensely - suprisingly removing the bell also helps, i think its just very slightly too large for the surrounding objects so it stands out as being a little akward. Figures definitely should'nt be displayed on The Silent Mary, i'd recommend potentially having them in the accompanying boat or simply infront of the model for display purposes. For playability the only real function is the raising front segment, The middle mast is easily my least favourite part of the set - it cannot be positioned other than completely fallen other and because of the build process, having it stacked ontop makes it 'pop off' everytime the front of the ship is lifted - so ensure you hold the mast and the middle segment when lifting the front. Despite reviews there is a bit of ship 'bend' near the front - its not going to break the set or anything as i'm fairly sure its an intentional thing Lego made into the riveting joints to ensure they last longer - though it does mean you have a bit of a wobble and slight bend when displayed. The set's scale is perplexing and the best guess is that it's somewhere sort of smaller than that of a short-legged minifigure (Salazar with short legs to demonstrate) I'd definitely recommend it - the design is impressive and with the included figures and Ghost Sharks it feels worth the price. Though if you can get it on double/triple VIP points or on sale then it'd certainly make you feel the purchase is more justified. In the UK there was a Lego price jump by about 20% - meaning this set would have probably cost around £150 instead of the £180 - which it honestly feels like without counting the figures/sharks. With the figures and two unique sharks i think its worthy of full price. Here are all the parts, as always, click to see the larger versions :) :3 =============== I now begin the process of 'fixing' her :3
-
Edit; Silent Mary just arrived, will be building her this evening I'd enjoy discussing this further with you, but i'm fairly sure that we should probably chat about Lego or at least how it relates to Lego in this topic :P In regards to the Silent Mary and some of the remarks you've made, i do think it would have been better if Lego had experimented a bit more with the ghosts. The best we got was a leg and a head being transparent. I think they could have varied it a bit more perhaps with a transparent arm or something. I'm still a little disappointed that it'll not be possible to army build these.

No confirmation. Except the Doctor Strange teaser trailer (a film released around the same time as Thor Ragnarok) released April 11th - so its quite likely the Thor Ragnarok teaser trailer in April also. Releasing a new Spider-man Homecoming trailer with GOTG 2 would also help encourage Marvel fans to see Spider-man Homecoming. I'm hoping that Shocker has arm and leg print - primarily because it'd help better justify the set. I'm not a fan of the vehicle or Vulture's wings and helmet - so i'd otherwise just be paying for an Iron Man colour swap and a torso print for Vulture (along with possibly a unique head?) Things tend to go by so quickly with the MCU that i dont tend to desire the sets unless they are either incredibly well made or represent something iconic that will be re-used - with Infintiy War next year and Avengers 4 the following year, chances are that we'll see a large line-up of sets for both years so trying to save where i can. I believe due to concerns about multiple villains generated from The Amazing Spider-man 2 and Spider-man 3 that Marvel wants to avoid showing Shocker to avoid worrying fans about the potential three villain scenario for the third time. Notable Sony's variant of the trailer was the one that unvieled Shocker, it also focused more on Iron Man to try and sell the film.

Weird new/early/off brand pirate hat in official LEGO video?
Scarilian replied to TalonCard's topic in LEGO Pirates
Personally i expect its actually a highwayman rather than a Pirate - but could be an explanation for the hat. -
Eh, depends on how he ends up looking in the movie. Dual molded legs are an 'ok' substitute for most characters whose legs would otherwise be blank - but i'm not sure we have a dual molded black & 'whatever shade his torso is' - it also might interupt the flow of the design going from detail to none. Ideally we'll see the Thor Ragnarok Teaser Trailer around the 12th April and the Spider-man Homecoming Trailer 2 with GOTG's UK release on April 25th - which should hopefully give us an idea on the accuracy of figures.

I can see that being somewhat passable - though without leg print there would be no possible leg print that we could use to replicate his outfit (unless its a proto-shocker where he's wearing normal trousers or something other than the stripe covered version)

I believe that the ghosts are the state they were at a specific point during the destruction of the Silent Mary, as we see the magical stuff reach Salazar while he is drowning - so they were probably transporting something cursed. The ship reflects this as do the people. Salazar is in a constant physical state of drowning. I believe it would be the Bermuda Triangle, given it has also been called the Devil's Triangle previously.
