Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Scarilian replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Please keep in mind that while it was '14+' it may be a bit extreme to expect 25 figures. I also think that any other figures would likely be civilian characters who work at the Daily Bugle or simply characters associated with Peter Parker. We also seemingly have confirmation that the release is around June 2nd - which is when the jb-spielwaren site states Lego will start supplying them. I'd guess the May 26th thing is either VIP's only or a pre-release. At one stage we had reports of a side build, I'm guessing that is the New York Cab... The Final Battle set has some good figures, but they only get torso prints. Thanos is nice, but lacks an optional helmet. Build is 'eh' another facade of the compound that still does not look like the movie, I don't think anybody was desperately begging for them to do the Ant-Man Van either xD The Dragon Flyer is an 'ok' build, but the only figure appeal is Shuri as Black Panther and Chitauri are in the more popular Final Battle set The Iron Monger is a nice build, but it's over-sized. The Gauntlet is nice, but it appeals to a select group of fans who just want a display model. The Benetar is an improvement externally over the previous version, but internally feels the same and lacks Drax or Nebula who are more important to include than Thor at this time. We've yet to see the Thor House or Sanctuary II - but we're definitely going to be missing characters people wanted from this wave such as Ronin, War Machine, Drax, Nebula, Valkyrie, Prof.Hulk, etc... I would not call it 'crap' but I can see why people are disappointed, unless you are a fan of Shuri or desperate for the Iron Man figures, chances are you'll just pick up the Final Battle set and maybe the Benetar. Next year is the 10th Anniversary of Avengers, 10th anniversary of Lego MCU sets - and it'll have been three years since Endgame which is normally the time it takes to make/release a D2C based on the movie. If the Saga line is continuing we should get something next year, if not then this was a one-off that would require Lego to see how well the line sells before doing it again. -

Regarding the Benetar: It's an improvement over the previous version (which should be expected given the price), but the actual size of the interior and the core build seems to be very similar to the previous version. The appeal for me was that we'd be able to have enough interior room to actually display the characters inside the ship, but this is more akin to just adding a bunch of smooth pieces and a tail to make a basic display model, it's just enough room for them to sit or stand inside but nothing else. You cannot replicate any of the scenes of characters interacting or anything inside the ship - so it's effectively reliant on how the exterior looks. The exterior does look good, but I've no interest in buying a set for that price that I'd then need to modify extensively to get to be what it should be - as it'd require redesigning the middle of the ship and as mentioned prior I prefer the Milano over the Benetar. Feels like a pass from me, perhaps I'll wind up getting the Daily Bugle after all as a lot of this wave is missing on the aspects that I hoped they would fix. I already linked this once, but someone made a UCS Milano with around 1,500 pieces and that had a bigger interior, handled the cockpit better and generally feels better built than what the Benetar has wound up getting and still managed to accomplish smoothness for a lot of the build. -

I think people here are confused, as far as I can tell the idea of Blade being in the set was a joke - yet everyone seems to be taking it seriously. I cannot find any of the trusted sources mentioning Blade as being legitimately in the set, so I'm sticking to: Yep 11 Confirmed out of '14': Spider-man, Peter Parker, J.J.Jameson, Betty Brant, Venom, Black Cat, Punisher, Daredevil, Spider-Woman, Mysterio, Green Goblin Nope: Electro, Lizard Reports on other figures: Sinister Six included in some form (At least three/four other villains as such?), No Big Figs included, 'No more New Villains' -

No Big Figs, unsure if a minifigure version of Rhino would count as a 'new villain', probably would as the only version we have currently is just in civilian form Yep 11 Confirmed out of '14': Spider-man, Peter Parker, J.J.Jameson, Betty Brant, Venom, Black Cat, Punisher, Daredevil, Spider-Woman, Mysterio, Green Goblin Nope: Electro, Lizard Reports on other figures: Sinister Six included in some form (At least three/four other villains as such?), No Big Figs included, 'No more New Villains' 14 figures is minimum, original remark was '14+' figures At this time chances are the other figures are other heroes, villains that we've already gotten in other sets and civilians associated with the heroes or the Daily Bugle -

Any word on a potential polybag with purchases of the Benetar featuring Drax and possibly Nebula... doubt they would miss them. Yep 11 Confirmed out of '14': Spider-man, Peter Parker, J.J.Jameson, Betty Brant, Venom, Black Cat, Punisher, Daredevil, Spider-Woman, Mysterio, Green Goblin Nope: Electro, Lizard Reports on other figures: Sinister Six included in some form (At least three/four other villains as such?), No Big Figs included, 'No more New Villains' List If I had to guess what figures we'd get. At Least 3 more villains that have appeared before to make the 'Sinister Six' Vulture Sandman Doctor Octopus Hob Goblin Likely some additional Daily Bugle members: Robbie Robertson Eddie Brock Ben Urich Ned Leeds Likely additional Spider-man supporting characters: Mary Jane Gwen Stacy Aunt May Think the shield is stickers though... -

A lot of the Benetar looks the same, it feels like it smooths out some segments, but need to see how the interior looks. At the moment it seems similar in terms of cockpit and exerior for the most part - perhaps they made it longer but not wider. It seems the Gauntlet can do a 'snap' pose and the Dragon Flyer can do its pose also. -

I think the Quantum Suit Ant-Man is still exclusive and will remain exclusive if anyone wants the microfig version of that. Thanos's printed arms will probably still be a reason to Bricklink that Thanos, I expect to see a lot of people selling the previous Thanos with blank arms xD Though other than that, everything in that set is getting a new version or an improved version at some stage (Hulk is definitely one we'll see in the future using the new Big Fig and chances are we'll see Nebula in GotG3 sets, if not sooner) -

Cap vs Hydra Torso usage of the Hydra Agent is weakened by the Hydra Logo Captain America looks 'ok', think it's a re-use? Bike is simplified for the age range Overall a neat set, but this is not for me - Pass Dragon Flyer Not a fan of Shuri as a character and she was the figure that got the most attention, lol Chitauri & Black Panther are neat but appear elsewhere Black Panther is not worth getting in my view unless we get a powered and depowered variant, potentially an 'eyes revealed' variant also. Build looks very blocky and one of the key features of the Dragon Flyer being able to pose like a Dragon Fly does not look like it'll be possible Only one exclusive figure and it's the character I don't care about - Pass Iron Monger Feels like it should have been a smaller cheaper set Iron Monger is oversized MK3 is definitely what will primarily sell people on the set What's in the box? D: I might end up getting it for piece or display, but the size of the Iron Monger is excessive - Maybe Infinity Gauntlet Seems more like a comic version than a movie version, it's very gold while the movies are more bronze The Infinity Stone's don't really stand out on the official art, perhaps a light-up feature would have helped Does not look like you'd be able to do a 'snap' pose I feel it's well done, but I'm still on the fence as to if it'd be worth getting - Maybe Final Battle Thanos Big Fig is divisive, personally I think he needs his helmet and chances are he'll wind up getting it somewhere down the line (2022 hopefully). Until he does, this Big Fig does not interest me and it's one of the core aspects adding cost to this set For those who do get Thanos, might be wise giving him the printed arms from the previous Endgame Thanos so he'll be fully printed (Torso, Knee, Arms) even if the arms might be a different shade It's neat that we get Endgame Wanda, but would advise giving her the skirt piece from the Civil War figure. Personally will just wait on CMF Wanda instead and retcon her into that outfit in my mind Captain America has a neat Torso, but without arm or Leg print it's not enough to convince me. If any of the four CMF Cap's provide suitable arm and leg print may end up Bricklinking him Not a fan of Endgame's Thor, so his figure here does not interest me much Build is contradictory, should have just given us Giant Man instead of the Van, Turret and Compound (maybe keep the broken segment) Should have included a different hero as opposed to Black Panther, or at the very least had a variant of Black Panther It's weird as at one stage it was the set I was most hyped for. I feel big fig Thanos has potential but he's not selling me without his helmet. A lot of the heroes have new Torso' but the rest leaves room to be desired with the weird out of character smile on Wanda (Though Goofy Fat Thor is hilarious) and the lack of arm or leg printing on Cap, Thor, Wanda or Black Panther. I really don't need another Avengers Compound facade, either deliver with a proper Avengers Compound D2C or don't bother - Pass -

Nice spot, appears to be an unprinted red minifigure scale gauntlet piece. He has them, but I don't think he uses them, except for maybe when he takes off flying (?). You see the circular repulsors on his hands when the suit is displayed Honestly, that should be helpful - means we can give Bif Fig's attachments. Almost certainly for a character like Bane where he's got something on the back. -

Loki is one of the few Disney+ shows to be confirmed to have a Second Season, so chances are we'll have a shot at getting the TVA eventually. I still expect Loki to be a more iconic outfit, probably with his helmet. -

Unsure about circumstances, but The Skywalker Saga might have behind-the-scenes stuff, Disney want to shift focus away from the sequel trilogy. Unclear if they want focus shifted away temporarily or permanently, but they want to hold off sequel trilogy stuff for a while and are currently trying to re-establish the franchise. They may have some sway over Lego and requested it delayed as such. The Skywalker Saga was originally intended for 20th October 2020. Lego may have had the Infinity Saga in development since Infinity War/Endgame in 2018/2019, so a late 2021 or 2022 release would make sense - 2022 if they wanted to time it with the 10th anniversary of Avengers. True, still feel it'd have been more logical to do the Milano. Originally the remarks were April/May. Then we had reports of it being delayed and the concern about a lack of May release was due to conflicting with all the other reveals. Personally after May failed, I've latched onto the idea of a late May release, whether that be for VIP's or a full release. In regards to June, it's still possible that the May 26th is just a VIP release with the full availability in June. We've had such a terribly messy schedule from Lego this year that you can't really blame people for the release dates being a nightmare - as even Lego appears to be changing them on the fly. Indeed, opens up a lot of options. I'd hope they will revisit Black Dwarf/Cull Obsidian next year, he should have a darker colour scheme and they could do with a little more detail, would be nice considering he's the only member of the Black Order that I feel they dropped the ball on due to colour scheme and lack of printed scales on the arms. Gives us a set with Black Dwarf/Cull Obsidian, Drax, Spider-man and a Chitauri and I feel that'd round out the Benetar and help with the Black Order. -

I'd chalk most of them up to translation issues, but still gave me a laugh. True, I guess it only really matters with the name if it's on the stand, though curious if the set will be called just 'Guardian Ship' or some variation, still feel the Milano is more iconic so far. -

Meanwhile some funny remarks by Lego (and probably some translation site that listed the descriptions) Dragon Flyer is the "One of the most famous flying machines in Marvel movies" Dragon Flyer is the "Best in both the game and the collection" Iron Monger is called the "Iron Merchant" with the set being "Iron Man: Fight the Iron Merchant" "Movable Limbs" are considered a feature The Infinity Gauntlet is now a Glove, referred to as the "Infinity Glove" and the "Golden Glove" The Infinity Gauntlet is female referred to as "She" (Reference to the Ego Gem/Nemesis /s) The Benetar is called "Guardianship Ship" The opening cockpit has room for "all the iconic Lego Marvel minifigures" of which the Chitauri is listed amongst the Guardians. Perhaps they honestly thought Drax was the Chitauri, maybe we'll see it riding in the cockpit with the Guardians or drinking coffee and donuts? "A partially assembled motorcycle so kids can get started on their own" without such help as a partially assembled motorcycle The instruction manual is now deemed as "intuitive" for including pictures "Decorating the interior" after you have built a set, presumably using other pieces, is now a selling feature of the set In slightly more serious news, given the odd remark at a game, could the delays be because of a potential Avengers Infinity Saga Game? Perhaps that could explain some of the delays and why we are getting legacy sets and could open up the possibility to more sets later. -

Daily Bugle on the 18th, release on May 26th Set pictures for Infinity Saga on the 19th, release in June for EU / August for US. If the figure count is 14, the remaining three or so figures we were missing will all be recurring Sinister Six figures from pre-existing villains. If it's more than 14 we could have some surprises, but that would likely be civilian characters as other heroes or new villains probably would have leaked. I feel Lego monumentally damaged the hype for this wave by failing to reveal official set images and by delaying the entire waves release for the US - coupled with delaying the official reveal AGAIN. We've seen a large amount of the figures and generally the figures are what help sell these sets. Seeing the box arts as some blurry photo's after all this is icing on the cake. At this stage I'm normally deciding on what to get based on official images... just generally feels 'eh' As a sidenote, anyone tried scanning the QR code on the box/instructions - could provide the instruction manuals and better quality images? -

Iron Monger looks excessively massive, it's not in scale. Feel this should have been priced cheaper with a smaller scale. Head might be a reuse of that piece from Molten Man. Compound is bigger than we thought Thanos has a stud on his head, hopefully helmet in this set or a 2022 set Cap's Shield looks dark red? Black Panther looks like a normal variant in Final Battle I mean, that's still getting the shaft, lol. No reason at all for them to delay the Shang Chi sets for Europe and no reason at all for them to delay the Infinity Saga sets for the US. At least with Australia you have the excuse of poor shipping and otherwise. These delays for Europe and the US have no logical reasoning behind them and serve only to make it less likely that people will source them from Lego. It's also risky flooding people with a lot of sets at once later in the year which may discourage them from getting them. Complaints are justified in both cases. Yeah, it's normally Europe that gets the shaft with such situations. Remember seeing people getting a bunch of the exclusive sets just by asking and I had to get the game twice because of the risk of the broken helmet issue and sell the spare game to recoup some of the cost. -_- -

Yep, anticipation is rising. Hopefully they all look awesome. Maybe we'll get a surprise also, would be nice getting a polybag with the Benetar including Drax so we get all the Guardians by buying that set. In a similar sense a polybag for the Daily Bugle would be nice.
