40580 Buildable Tahu: Bionicle returns in 2023!
Scarilian replied to Mandalorianknight's topic in LEGO Action Figures
The scale of the printed mask piece means you can place that onto the mini-Tahu from the 90th anniversary set and vice versa. I think as such this works as a good companion to that set. Realistically you get Tahu, Takua, the Mata Nui & Makuta Stones, a display lava area, Tahu's lava surfboard and potentially more given the prior leak (which proved to be accurate) showed some sort of Golden Nuva armour for Tahu on the back of a preliminary box. They are definitely including a lot in this and I can see people having fun playing with, displaying or even just swapping the goofy mini-tahu face around with Tahu's printed face here. I do agree that Bionicle deserved a lot more than this, it won the first round of the poll and this is clearly part of the 90th anniversary reactionary sets so it could and probably should have had more effort put in, but I do appreciate that they are limited on what new parts and pieces they could create in the time they had and at minimum we at least are getting printing and an attempt to give us more than just Tahu. While I like this as a one-off, I think something more akin to the buildable figure line perhaps crossed with the mechs would be the scale of which Bionicle should become for an attempted revival. With the 25th anniversary of Bionicle in 2025/2026 I'd hope they do something for the theme, one last revival attempt. -
Saw this earlier and thought my comment posted, guess not... but yeah, this is a fantastic piece of work

I should probably mention this now, as it's likely going to be a source of confusion later Certain fan-made sets share the same numbering as several of the sets that are currently listed or rumored for 2023 and are being reported by some sites incorrectly as actual sets, as far as I can tell these are the following however may also include others: 76250: Whiplash Race Face-Off (Created by cm4scii) 76251: Black Order Ambush 170 Pieces (Created by cm4scii) 76260: New Goblin Alley Ambush 160 Pieces (Created by cm4scii) 76261: Doc Ock Lab Battle 290 Pieces (Created by cm4scii) 76262: (Lego Spider-man) (Created by cm4scii) 76263: Green Goblin Festival Attack 540 Pieces (Created by cm4scii) 76264: (Lego Spider-man) (Created by cm4scii) Please be aware that this may have caused confusion with the person who sourced us the recent list of sets and that while these set numbers could still be for legitimate sets they almost certainly won't be for the things described above. We have no confirmation on any 2023 sets planning to revisit past Spider-man movies, nor any confirmation of doing a set focused around the Black Order or Iron Man 2's Race battle. -

I think at one stage Flash was going to be a big thing for them, I can see 76224 and 76222 also being Flash sets, of which only 76224 is currently scheduled as an August set. As for Aquaman, the first film was popular and they used that logic to justify a big bust of Black Panther and a more expensive wave for Black Panther 2 so I can see them justifying maybe a small wave of three Aquaman 2 sets at varying prices. -

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. Something in every month till June, nice. Remember to plan purchases as a Marvel polybags is in February and an unknown Superhero polybag is in June, along with other promotionals throughout the year. Interestingly enough we have the return of an old friend, 76224 which was delayed from 2022 into August 2023. Updated list: JANUARY 2023: (Total 7) 76241: Hulk Mech Armor 76242: Thanos Mech Armor 76243: Rocket Mech Armor 76244: Miles Morales Vs. Morbius 76245: Ghost Rider Mech & Bike 76247: The Hulkbuster: The Battle of Wakanda 76248: The Avengers Quinjet FEBRUARY 2023 (Just a polybag): 30652: (Polybag?, 44 pcs) MARCH 2023 (Total 3) 10789: Spider-man's Car and Doc Ock ($9.99, 48 pcs) 10790: Team Spidey at Green Goblin's Lighthouse ($34.99, 149 pcs) 10791: Team Spidey's Mobile Headquarters ($49.99, 187 pcs) APRIL 2023 (Total 4): 76251: $79.99 76253: 'Headquarters' (GotG themed) ($9.99, 67 pcs) 76254: 'Spaceship' (GotG themed) ($34.99, 330 pcs) 76255: (GotG themed) ($99.99, 1108 pcs) May 2023 (Total 1): 76232: $89.99 (Captain Marvel 2) JUNE 2023 (Just a polybag): 30653: (Polybag?, Could be DC or Marvel, 40 pcs) August 2023 (Total 10): 76224: $44.99 (Unknown set originally planned for 2022, listed on Promobricks.de) - Was planned, but delayed 76257: $29.99 76258: $29.99 76260: $14.99 76261: $99.99 76262: $199.99 76264: $24.99 76265: $34.99 76266: $99.99 76267: $44.99 UNKNOWN 2023 (Total 5): 76246: 76249: 76250: $69.99 76252: 76256: $29.99 ('Ant-Man 3') Rumored sets: CMF Licensed series rumored for 2023, could be Marvel Spider-man Art Mosaic, may not be listed under Superheroes initially as could be under 'Art' Additional NWH set/Movie-inspired Spider-man sets - nothing confirming the existence of the sets, but heavily desired by the community. 2HY 2023 at the earliest. Notes: Unidentified sets may wind up being from DC, please be aware Currency listings are taken from a variety of sources and may vary 76221 is Batmobile Flash Tracking 76222 is a 2022 set, may show up eventually like 76224 (Listed on Promobricks.de) - Potentially planned, but delayed/not happening I'd lean to some of the August sets being DC based on Flash or Aquaman 2. I think they are going to be revisiting some Marvel sets throughout the year like with the Hulkbuster set (Revamp of 76104) and the Quinjet (Revamp of 6869), as such I'm anticipating either 76261, 76262 or 76266 to be an Avengers Tower set that's a remake of 76038. I could easily see us getting NWH sets though given we have about 15 unknown sets, even if some are DC it seems like a lot considering no Marvel movie release after Captain Marvel 2 in July. Unless we get Blue Beetle sets I think they'd revisit legacy things 76232: $89.99 (Captain Marvel 2) - May 76256: $29.99 ('Ant-Man 3') - Unknown release -

Still disappointed we never got a Spider-man head bust, been holding off hoping for the Spider-man bust. We have 76246, 76249, 76250 ($70), 76251 ($80) and 76252 that are most likely 1HY sets - which are listed on Promobricks. There's also at least two superhero polybags planned, one of which we know to be Marvel related. Could kinda see it happening, but it'd be something like Sandman & Electro with Scaffolding, Green Goblin and Doc Ock with Statue, Lizard with the portal and lab. -

Apparently it's only available with purchases of unlicensed sets, which is a bit unfortunately, but definitely getting this. Unsure if you've seen the full image, but it also appears to have a depiction of the Mata Nui and Makuta stones which is neat. -

Has anyone done any revamps of the Hulkbuster (76210) yet? @Ransom Fern If not I may wind up attempting it as seen it be released for around 25% off I'm sure the pricing will go lower, but it's easier to justify at a lower price and I've already stocked up on dark red pieces and two nano gauntlets for additional parts. Glad the printing issue is fixed, shame they spent so long denying the issue though and misleading people with images that did not represent the actual quality of the figures. I'm hoping when bigfigs return that they'll revisit Thanos, they have to eventually right? He's the main villain of Phases 1-3 so I'd expect him to pop-up again somewhere. I'm good with my other versions of the big three for the moment. Personally I'm still going with the idea that the transition to the new bigfig mold used for Thanos and probably intended for other bigfigs was delayed or cancelled due to some mixture of sales/production issues/concerns over amount of plastic resulting in them avoiding bigfigs for a while. Hopefully we get a bigfig this year to end the curse, maybe Hulk, but if not I'm going with that as headcanon to explain the lack of bigfigs. -

Seems likely the Captain Marvel 2 set definitely got pushed back then. Ant-Man 3 set could still wind up being early than June/July, but I think it'll probably remain. Surprised it took so long, but seems like the perfect solution. Shame they introduce this piece now but then remove knee and arm joints while increasing price. -

We've had this conversation a few times on here, but pushing a set forward by a potential 4-6 months is trickier than pushing a set back. I also think if the set does contain Kang that Lego will understand the set will sell regardless of if it's released now or later. Kang will also appear in other places around the potential June/July originally scheduled release of the set such as Loki S2 which is mid 2023 - so it keeps the set relevant. Honestly, we may see the Captain Marvel 2 set (76232) in the catalogue as Promobricks still had that scheduled for a January release (Similar situation to the delays with Eternals sets) - whereas the Ant-Man 3 set has not had a release date associated with it. Expected this, but still a scummy thing for Lego to do. They do this fully knowing that kids would want to interchange these and it'd likely mess up the piece or cause damage to the sticker. I don't expect much, but including an extra duplicate piece or two would have been all they needed to do. -

I managed to find these image of her which is the likely inspiration for the Spider-man and his Amazing Friends portrayal, note her hair is red in these versions and tends to flow to one side or behind her. -

@THELEGOBATMAN@PGBQW Fair :P I don't blame people as it's a fairly niche thing and it was a funny comment considering my own curiosity with the Big Figs and this years Eurobricks history :P Yeah, was hoping we'd get some of the other designs such as Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Wasp and perhaps Venom or Wolverine. Wolverine especially since his wing blades look like pre-existing Lego Pieces. I believe so, Goblin and Spider-man were definitely meant to be representing the Mech Strike Monster Hunters theme. Other sets may have drawn some inspiration on the mech designs but I think it was just the one set that was supposed to be based on the theme. Honestly was hoping the Rocket Mech for this year would have drawn inspiration from the theme also: -

Yes and those fans are correct. It's based off the 'Mech Strike Monster Hunters' theme in which the heroes have mechs and the villains are monsters. Though it is a mech build, it's meant to serve as the monster version of the Green Goblin. It's clear neither of you made any research on the subject and also forgot that we'd already covered this being an organic monster, not a mech, months ago when the 'Mech Strike Monster Hunters' inspired line of sets were announced - both of you were in the conversation with me, lol. Green Goblin is a monster in the series that this set is based on and his Lego mech is intended to be his organic monster form. The heroes are the hunters in mechs, the villains are the monsters who are organic and 'Monsterized'. The Hunters have their mechs 'Monsterized' giving the mechs a power boost but remaining as mechs for the heroes to pilot. " Doctor Doom used a mysterious magical eye to turn the worst Marvel villains into monsters! To stop him, Doctor Strange used his own mystical eye to level up the Avengers' Mech Strike armors created by Iron Man, into Mech Strike Monster Hunters! Now they must fight head-to-head for the fate of the Marvel Universe!" -

Gave the new sets some time to settle: Mechs losing arm and leg articulation is a downgrade, at least it provides some variation in colour for the joint piece though Mechs costing more is a problem for justifying them Thanos mech seems to be the only one worth potentially getting, you get all the Infinity Stones, the Gauntlet and a Thanos head that's printed one-sided so you can have angry Thanos figure head to display without his helmet Ghostriders Bike is build and looks different in the varying pictures of it, so no idea what we'll actually get, but in general the Bike is the only appealing thing here. The mech looks generic, the chain is too small for the mech version of Ghostrider, etc... Hulkbuster Wakanda set has a good upper torso build, but everything else is a bit of a downgrade. Arms are on a hinge moving up/down, knees feel less bulky, no function, figure choice is underwhelming Quinjet gets praise for its smoothness, interior size and accuracy to the film, however removal of the droop snoot feature from the 2012 version makes this one feel a bit more like a flying block to me given even less of the wings droop Loki and Iron Man are an improvement in terms of torso/leg. Black Widow getting arm print is nice, but with no leg print it makes more sense to just stick with the prior torso/leg print combo and use the arms form the new version. I don't feel the segmented blue works for Captain America. Guessing we'll hopefully get another set with Hawkeye, Hulk and the Chitauri. In terms of what I'll wind up getting, maybe the Thanos Mech and bricklink the Shield arms from Black Widow and the Morbius figure. I'm fine waiting for sales on the other things. Again, I find it highly concerning how we got a brand new mold for Thanos' big fig in 2021 and then have not seen a big fig in 2022. This should be something that's at least making people curious. It felt like a situation where they were introducing a new mold to replace or update the big figs and then we just did not see a big fig for a year? -

Would'nt this be a reason to be concerned if they don't feel the singular set they have for Ant-Man 3 is going to be worthy of a wider release? Yes, seems to be a non-official depiction of that scene. -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

As mentioned by others, moving a sets release date forward is more complicated than delaying a set. We just don't have anything hinting it's coming in January/February at this time so I'd lean more towards Lego not being able to push it forward to release before or around the movie's new release date. I feel like this has mostly come from us not having a big fig in the Marvel line since. When the new big fig style was introduced with Thanos I was one of those who felt it'd open up a ton of possibilites and be used for a wide variety of characters... and then it's not appeared again. With the cost to create a new mold, I'm surprised we've had nothing for 2022 as it'd have made the most sense to capitalize on the newly created mold for other big figs - at the very least we should have seen another big fig in 2022 in some theme displaying the new style introduced with Thanos. Instead... nothing. Notably 'Sandy' from the Monkey theme became a minifigure instead of a big fig despite him being portrayed as a big fig prior to 2022. Potential story reasons for that I might be unaware of, but it's still raising concerns for me and presumably others given the lack of a big fig in 2022 and the seeming lack currently of a 2023 big fig. -

First time seeing Bowie. Probably one of the weirder ship designs. I'll probably get it and turn it into a Doc Ock Fusion device MOC or something, lol. Please remember we have an unknown Marvel polybag in February and another in June, so you may not necessarily want to rush into buying the sets just in the scenario that the polybags require a purchase of a certain amount from the Marvel theme. Updated List: Now with even more links to sources :p The late release date switch between Captain Marvel 2 and Ant-Man 3 means the set release dates might be problematic. I would not be surprised if the Ant-Man 3 set winds up being around the previously planned July release along with a pushed back Captain Marvel 2 set. It's easier to just push back the Captain Marvel 2 set to a more appropriate release date than it is to move the Ant-Man 3 set forward. I also think the Ant-Man 3 set would still have a level of interest if released later, especially if the set features Kang who is the core villain of this arcing narrative for these phases. We'll know for sure if we don't get one by early 2025. Red Hulk rumours for Captain America 4/Thunderbolts, potential for a Hulk/Skaar movie at some stage, high chance of Abomination showing up given he went off with Wong, Thing presumably requiring a big fig, etc... That said we don't really have any concrete aspects that would include a big fig this year, most logical option would be a legacy update of the Hydra Fortress Smash featuring Hawkeye and Hulk to fit the criteria which would also mean a set adapting from Avengers: AoU. We also have mystery sets 76250: $69.99 and 76251: $79.99 either of which could be candidates for a big fig given the pricing. -

Probably 2012 Quinjet legacy set, maybe a delayed anniversary wave if we are very lucky and the Lego reps were just trolling us about forgetting. It's never too late for leaks :P Hence us seeing the Captain America figure. Given the overhang on the back of the helmet, I'm guessing it's a double-sided face. -

Scarilian replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Feels odd the lack of January Marvel reveals, maybe we'll have to wait till they get uploaded to the Lego site around December. Personally I'd go Ant-Man, Wasp, Kang and a brick-built Modok build. Though I do think it's also an option they hold off on Kang until CMF series 2 OR Secret Wars and either give us Cassie or just do Ant-Man, Wasp and Modok depending on how hard inflation is hitting these sets and what scale Modok is. June/July 2023 maybe, but more realistically if they are happening then 2HY 2023. I think if The Marvels set releases in January then they would be foolish not to do some legacy wave in 2HY to fill the gap. Lego could have been provided concept art that likely would show Sandman. Sandman would not necessarily require a figure as opposed to a brick-built structure. If necessary anyone wanting Sandman can just use the version from 76114 or 76178. I think Lizard just won't happen. Even in the movie he felt like a last minute addition, I believe at one stage they were going to have a multiversal Mysterio instead of him so Doctor Strange would have someone to fight. I'd still lean to 3 sets though, if we get any, probably with an 'inspired by' logo. Tom (Iron Spider) Repeat figure Vs Doc Ock Tom (Black Suit) Repeat Figure & Andrew Vs Electro Tom (Final Battle) Repeat Figure & Tobey Vs Green Goblin Edit: With potential for supporting figures/side characters depending on scale of sets. It'd probably wind up being like how they handled Spider-verse, Venom, Morbius and Carnage where Lego would use the popularity to make comic-inspired sets featuring the character or generally focused on more comic style depictions. -

Yeah, given the lack of Marvel this week so far it's probably next week, as they normally have them on Shop@home on 1st December showing they'll be released in January.
