LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Oh wow. This response alone can be torn to complete shreds. Imagine suggesting someone doesn’t have a valid opinion yet states with fact that a particular theme within Star Wars, without any evidence bare in mind, did not sell well. Sorry I think your tone is disgusting. This is about a toy, that is Lego. Chill out a little and express your views in a better way. -

Kind of forgot about the already released set pictures for the other sets so here a final thoughts on the entire wave consisting of a total of 9 sets. Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor: Have the 2014 version so nothing new here. Can’t see anyone buying this if they have that version. 501st Clone troopers: One of the best Lego Star Wars sets in a long time. I’ll buy a fair few to keep sealed. AAT: Figures are good, set less so. Might be one of those that looks better in person. I’ll get one. NightBuzzard: KoR are great and the set is solid. Good job. Don’t have the other KoR though so will have to see. Greivous Starfighter: Had the potential to be a great set it really did. One that I felt needed a remake. Yet the lazy figures and price pretty much confirm I will not pick this up. Resistance IT-S Transport: Look I like that’s it’s new and unique, but I could think of many more sets I’d rather have. The figures are decent but only 3 is rather disappointing. Death Star Final Duel: Strange choice and very unexpected! Close to the 2015 version so not sure why it’s being released. Didn’t have the 2015 version so if this goes on sale I’d be intrigued. RazorCrest: Great set, will sell very well. Shame no Beskar variant but that’s fine. AT-AT: This is a good set. Figures are good and it’s a far superior model imo than previous iterations. Overall some good figures and some decent sets. Definitely an improvement imo on the last few years’ summer waves. But for sure, the whole thing from leakers, Lego revealing sets, the type of sets has been strange. Strange but fun. Bring on Winter! We could be in for more pretty much direct re-releases of sets in the future (interceptor + DS Duel) -

I’m sure the Vulture Droid was cheap though wasn’t it, unlike the Galaxy Edge Transport which looks pricey. -

This. Many people on this forum constantly remind us that Lego Star Wars is for children, which is absolutely correct. The point is that I can almost say with absolute certainty children will not know what or where this set is from. Hence it is a strange choice, considering this set is targeted for them. I’m sure a larger Clone Wars vehicle for example would be instantly more recognisable in terms of the set itself and the minifigures included than this. I personally think it looks decent but the reasons I’ve stated means I don't think it will sell well. -

What makes this wave even more baffling is that they haven’t gone all out for The Clone Wars, it was obvious it would smash it pandemic or not. I don’t get the Galaxy Edge set at all, most kids as well as adults globally will know nothing about the set and figures. I certainly had never heard of it and I’d like to think I know a lot of characters/ships/vehicles etc. These figures are definitely final. -

Atleast she has a double-sided face print Had not realised the laziness of the minifigure selection in the Soulless One- Grievous isn’t tan and Obi-Wan is from Mustafar -

Well I’m shocked. 75291 is a literal re-release of the Death Star Final Duel from 2015...WHAT? The AAT looks horrendous and no idea why there’s Kashyyyk Battle Droids... but Ahsoka and a 332nd Trooper means this will sell very well. Night Buzzard looks nice in all honesty! Cannot really see the point of the Interceptor, it’s just the same. Resistance Transport Ship from what exactly? So strange... Grievous Ship looks nice but nobody is going to pick it up at that price unless you’re a reviewer of some sort. It’s just all round strange. -
Ah yes I prefer to just make as many set ideas as possible, whereas yours are better because they’re concise and have clearly thought about what are the essential sets from that movie. Bet you can’t wait for the ROTS super wave... I have a feeling that’s going to be the biggest of the lot! The creatures are Orrays. Good lord I’d be scarred if that sound brick was in my room! Quoted the sets I like in particular, especially love the Microfighters here.

Blurry picture of the Advent Calendar has leaked over on Instagram. Surely any day now for the rest of the wave. -
Now now, your wish is my command Padme’s Naboo Honeymoon £999.99: Padme, Anakin, elephant/moose thing, 5,000 piece waterfall and a brick with the quote I don’t like sand. Oh and a random woman who took their bags off them when they arrived.

Right Attack of the Clones. My childhood favourite. After watching it back it’s definitely a unique Star Wars film for sure for multiple reasons. There’s a middle portion of the film that has limited vehicles and ships that kids would definitely not buy so I’ve skipped some of them out, whilst others although I don’t think will ever be sets, offer some sort of play value or interest. New or redesigned things of note: Kaminoans, Anakin Skywalker, new colour for the Battle Droids, New Clone trooper designs to keep them fresh, Seperatist Council members, Padme Poncho, Silver/dusty C3-PO, Corde, Captain Typho, Joclad Danva, Bultar Swan, Roth-Del Masona, updated Jedi designs based on AOTC for Luminara, Shaak ti etc, Dexter Jettster, Movie accurate + different variant Geonosians, WA-7, FA-4 redesign, Hermione Bagwa. Again loads that hasn’t been done! I think the film in terms of Lego can really be characterised by the amount of ‘stuff’ that hasn’t been done by Lego rather than what has and needs updating. Think this is mainly because of the Clone Wars’ success. Anyway here we go! ** No Republic Gunship because the 2013 set won’t be beaten and a Clone Wars S7 version would offer something new. MicroFighters Republic SPHA-T £9.99: Clone Gunner Geonosian Starfighter £9.99: Geonosian Pilot Battle Packs/army builder style sets Forward Commander Centre W/Speeder Bike £34.99: Clone Trooper Sergeant, Clone Trooper Lieutenant, Clone Trooper (x2), Super Battle Droid (x2) Battle on Geonosis £44.99 (Geonosian Starfighter + Sonic Boom Turret): Geonosian Pilot, Geonosian Warrior, Geonosian Battle Droid (x2) Droid Factory £59.99: Anakin Skywalker, C3-PO, Geonosian Warrior, Geonosian Battle Droid (x5) - the link below is a good example of what I’m thinking probably just with a better conveyor belt design perhaps. Small-Medium Scale sets Hailfire Droid £24.99: Geonosian Battle Droid (x2), Tarados Gon (closer to 2007 version than 2015 yuck) Dexter Jettster's Diner £29.99: Dexter Jettster, Obi-Wan Kenobi, WA-7 Waitress Droid, Hermione Bagwa Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter £34.99: Obi-Wan Kenobi, R4-P17, Taun We Homing Spider Droid w/Dwarf S.Droid £34.99: Geonosian Battle Droid Commander, Super Battle Droid, Shaak Ti, Clone Trooper Coruscant Airspeeder Chase £44.99 (2 Airspeeders, Courier Droid w/printed slug function): Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Zam Wesell (double sided face) Naboo Starfighter £44.99: Padme Amidala, Captain Typho, Cordé, Unnamed Green Astromech Droid Count Dooku’s Solar Sailor £49.99 (+Flipknot Speeder): Count Dooku, FA-4 Pilot Droid, Poggle the Lesser, Yoda Padme’s Nubian Yacht £59.99: Padme Amidala (poncho), Anakin Skywalker, R2-D2, C3-PO Commerce Guild Diamond-Class Cruiser £64.99: Shu Mai, Po Nudo, Battle Droid Pilot, Super Battle Droid, Clone Trooper (x2) Larger Scale sets Hardcell Interstellar Transport £79.99: Wat Tambor, Passel Argente, Geonosian Battle Droid (x2), Super Battle Droid (x2), Joclad Danva Jango Fett’s Slave One £99.99: Jango Fett, Boba Fett, Lama Sue Naboo Diplomatic Barge £129.99: Padme Amidala, Captain Typho, Corde, Naboo Pilot, Naboo Security Lieutenant (Theomet Danlé) Republic SPHA-T £129.99: Yoda, Mace Windu, Clone Trooper Commander, Clone Trooper Captain, Clone Trooper (x2) Republic Acclamator-Class Assault Cruiser £129.99: Chancellor Palpatine, Luminara Unduli (skirt piece like Offee), Saesse Tiin, Clone Pilot (new helmet probably be in UCS Gunship), Clone Trooper (x2) Petranaki Arena £139.99 (overpriced due to combination of moulded creature parts with pieces + figure count-1150/1250- balcony, stands, 3 pillars, Chariot): Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padme Amidala, Count Dooku, Nute Gunray, Coleman Trebor, Geonosian Battle Droid, Super Battle Droid, Geonosian Picador, Geonosian Warrior, Roth-Del Masona, Bultar Swan - Reek, Acklay, Nexus, and Orray- a combination of moulded and pieces) UCS Republic Dropship w/AT-TE £249.99: Kit Fisto, Pablo-Jill, Sora Bulq, Clone Pilot (new helmet), Clone AT-TE Driver, Clone Trooper, Geonosian Battle Droid (x2), Droideka

You’re too kind sir. Honestly good job, hadn’t thought of a Naboo Palace Rescue type set- would remind me of Prince of Persia and Indiana Jones type sets (7571 + 7197). Watching Attack of the Clones this evening so expect a set list based on that in the coming days!
-
I think we are missing a crucial point here. The terrain on Tatooine does not provide any functionality unlike Starkiller Base, Naboo, and Mustafar. What are kids meant to do with the terrain exactly? Place the speeder and vaporator on and that’s it? Furthermore just because a set has been released in the past does not guarantee its future as a set. Just my two cents anyway!
-
This- it will have to have atleast Ben but I can totally see a couple of Sith Sovereign Protectors being included. The Mace Windu vs Palpatine would be a really good set. Those who missed out on Palpatine’s arrest would be annoyed though I think. Unless a Gunship included the other Jedi and Anakin for example.
-
Nah cmon now that duel definitely wasn’t just Palpatine and Rey. I meant in terms of the discussion right now in relation to Palpatine/Yoda duel. Plus as a small duel set rather than large.
-
Duel sets actually need to have Lego Bricks. So the tatooine version of Maul and Qui-Gon won’t happen- all there would be is perhaps Maul’s Speeder. Obi-Wan vs Vader ANH, Luke vs Vader ESB, and Ahsoka vs Maul (although not sure these new variants would come in such a cheap set if I’m honest) are the main candidates. The Invisible Hand Duel and the Duel on Exegol involves more than 2 characters and in most cases more than 3 so unless Lego wants to return to the larger duel sets I can’t see these being made in these small duel scenarios. Personally a Palpatine Vs Yoda with a senate pod or two could be a really interesting set that I don’t think has been Mentioned here.
-
Cheers, I think the Airspeeder Taxi could work as a small set and has some cool minifgures in Sabe in her black Queen outfit and an Alien driver. It would be a small set too. Valorum’s shuttle was just put in their as a remote chance...most likely will never happen. Honestly enjoyed creating the list and to be honest the film-once you take away the expectation and don’t treat it as a life or death experience you appreciate it a lot more. Hence why I really went all out on the sets because I’d love for Lego to redo all the prequels again for collectors who never got the chance to collect the sets from 2011 onwards. TLJ grew on me after a few watches albeit it’s still poor and really screws up the sequel trilogy imo. I like a lot of the sets you have listed good job. Would pick up those smaller sets for sure and that AT-ST. I think you could have included Tallie’s Blue A-Wing and have her with a better helmet than the Micro-fighters set and then C’ai Threnalli too.

Personally I quite like The Phantom Menace and after having watched the film, admittedly for the first time in a while last night, I decided to construct an ULTIMATE TPM set ideas post. For sure when I was re-watching I realised there are many characters and types of guards etc that have not had the Lego treatment. The minifigure choices are occasionally identical for certain sets because I can't imagine Lego to release them in a short space of time to each other. Notable inclusions for the first time: Ric Olié, Sabé, Sio Bibble, Boss Nass, Naboo Royal Guard, Naboo Engineer, Naboo Pilot (Arven), R2-C4, R2-R9, Fodesinbeed Annodue, Shmi Skywalker, Kitster, Rayno Vaca, Rune Haako, Tey How, Chancellor Valorum, new versions of Padme, Palpatine, Nute Gunray, Senate Gaurds, Republic Pilots in cruiser, various Gungan Warriors, and finally C3-PO. Also Kaadu mold. The point is TPM is not dead, and would provide long-time collectors with great new minifigures to ensure the sets have value to them! Microfighters Kaadu (Brickbuilt) vs STAP £17.99: Gungan Warrior and Battle Droid Anakin's Podracer £9.99: Anakin Skywalker Sebulba's Podracer £9.99: Sebulba Battle Pack/army builder Style Sets Naboo Forces Battle Pack £12.99 (Kaadu mold, booma/energy ball holder, small flash speeder): Gungan Warrior (x2), Naboo Royal Guard, Naboo Security Officer Battle Droid Troop Carrier £24.99: Battle Droid Pilot, Battle Droid (x6) Meeting with Boss Nass £29.99 (Small statue build, moulded Kaadu): Boss Nass, Padme Amidala, Gungan Warrior (x2) Small-Mid Scale Sets Airspeeder Taxi £24.99: Rayno Vaca, Sabé, Jar-Jar Binks (basically a squashed version of Cad Banes 2010) Vulture Droid £24.99: Rune Haako, Battle Droid Pilot, Battle Droid Gian Speeder £29.99: Padme Amidala (New purple outfit), Naboo Royal Guard, Naboo Security Guard Skywalker Homestead £29.99: Anakin Skywalker, Shmi Skywalker, Kitster, Uncompleted C3-PO Trade Federation AAT £44.99: Nute Gunray, Sio Bibble, Battle Droid, Security Battle Droid Naboo Starfighter £44.99 (Chrome Stickers + small side build): Anakin Skywalker, R2-D2, Naboo Pilot (Arven Wendik), R2-C4, Naboo Engineer (Nici Burrén), Droideka (x2) Battle Droid Troop Carrier £49.99: Same as the 2015 version, just get rid of Gungan Chancellor Valorum's Shuttle £59.99: Chancellor Valorum, Senator Palpatine, Senate Guard (x2) Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator £69.99: Qui-Gon Jinn (New grey poncho), Padme Amidala, Captain Paneka Larger Scale Sets Naboo Royal Starship £89.99 (Chrome stickers): Ric Olié, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Queen Amidala, R2-D2, R2-R9 Mos Espa Podrace £109.99 (Commentator booth, small stand, small watching Pod stand): Anakin Skywalker, Sebulba, Watto, Shmi Skywalker, Fodesinbeed Annodue, Pit Droid Republic Cruiser £119.99: Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Antidar Williams, Maoi Makadaor, TC-14 MTT £119.99: Same figures as Landing Craft + PK-4 Droid Trade Federation Landing Craft £129.99: Battle Droid Commander, Battle Droid Pilot, Battle Droid (x10), Captain Tarpals, Jar-Jar Binks Droid Control Ship £139.99: Nute Gunray, Rune Haako, Tey How, Battle Droid Pilot (x2), Security Battle Droid, Battle Droid (x2)

Like these ideas. Isolated them from the other sets because I think these are most likely to happen down the line when Lego feels it’s necessary (if they ever do...) to revisit The Force Awakens. To be honest I haven’t watched the film in a while but it seems that Lego have produced the main sets for this film.

My main desire for ROTJ sets is to to see more of those aliens in the Palace and Sail Barge and also existing ones such as Ree-Yees. Saelt-Marae, Brock Starsher, Pote Snitkin, Sy Snootles, Joh Yowza. I am presuming 1 or 2 skiffs would come with the Sail Barge right? The rest of the list is really good, damn Lego need to do more ROTJ. I have a feeling we might have to wait until it’s 40 anniversary for stuff like this. Just like @ARC2149Nova ‘s love for 501st Jet Troopers (which came true ;)) my favourite Clone Troopers are Mace Windu’s Unit/Legion on Anaxes. Their actual names are debates although they’re most likely part of Lightning Squad of the 91st mobile Reconnaissance Corps. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Mace_Windu's_unit I would love Lego to make these so here’s a few sets after rewatching the Bad Batch Arc. I also have made 3 sets with similar inspiration to how the Knights of Ren were split up across different sets for the Bad Batch. Let me know your thoughts! CIS Heavy Artillery Cannon (one from Battle for Geonosis set 2011 but blue elements to it and wider legs) £44.99: Battle Droid (x2), Super Battle Droid, Mace Windu, 91st Clone Trooper Republic Z-95 Headhunter £59.99: Mace Windu, Clone Pilot, 91st Clone Trooper Outer Rim Siege Troopers- talked about a bit a few pages ago. Bad Batch Speeder (CIS vehicle they steal + Flitknot Speeder like 2013 Barc Speeder) £49.99: Crosshair, Wrecker, Commando Droid (x2) Havoc Marauder £89.99 w/ Spider Droid: Tech, Echo, Anakin, Battle Droid Commander, Battle Droid CIS Super Battle Droid MTT £119.99: Discussed before and has Hunter. Could also potentially have Jesse.

@Kit Figsto really like the idea of prequel Microfighters especially the Gungan, at te and Jedi Starfighter. @Mandalorianknight here’s some ESB ideas (following some of yours of course and some of mine from previous posts) Snowtrooper Battle Pack (Speeder + Command Station) £12.99: Snowtrooper Captain, Snowtrooper (x2), Imperial Officer Tie Bomber £74.99: Admiral Ozzel, Captain Needa, Tie Pilot, Stormtrooper Cloud Car £24.99: Bespin Guard, Ugnaught, Lobot Bespin Junkyard £34.99: Chewbacca, C3-PO, E-3PO, Ugnaught Duel on Cloud City £24.99: Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker Hoth Generator Assault £74.99 (Trench, two types of turret, Snowspeeder, Tauntaun, generator): Han Solo, General Reeikan, Zev Senesca, Hoth Rebel Trooper (x2), Snowtrooper (x2) Hoth Wampa Cave £29.99: Luke Skywalker, Wampa
-
Republic Attack Shuttle £89.99-£99.99(one that transported Maul so will have cargo): Ahsoka Tano, Darth Maul, Clone Pilot, Clone Shock Trooper (x2) is my guess. @ARC2149Nova
-
All these are great and extremely likely I feel. Again love these. The last 3 are sets I would love to get but not sure if they’ll be there next year. @UberCorp and @Kit Figsto some good ones aswell on the previous page!
