Speed Champions 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
My guess is that the 930 model itself was far more popular than they anticipated and/or what they initially had planned has some licensing issues. I’ll still pick it up just so I can convert it into this: http://www.stanceworks.com/2014/09/some-cars-go-and-others-stay-magnus-walkers-1971-porsche-911-277/- 428 replies

LEGO Speed Champions - Wishlists and Future Speculation

I’d love to see the designers have a go at a 300SL Gullwing. We need more Mercedes-Benz in the theme, and the Gullwing is definitely an iconic classic. I really liked the idea behind the Ferrari Ultimate Garage set, so I think it could work with Mercedes-Benz too. Perhaps they could squeeze in a fourth car, like a SSK or W196. If I had to pick.... Speed Champions 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
It also seems Wal-Mart took them off their website for the time being, but like I said, they were listed as unavailable anyway+no images. This being a January 1st release does make me wonder if a 2nd wave will be coming, especially since this is the smallest wave yet. I’m saying this because all the main themes usually see a January 1st release, and this wave of Speed Champions is a January 1st release. This might mean LEGO now considers it one of their main themes, and all of the main themes get a second wave. I’m not expecting one, but I’m not ruling the possibility out either. Either way, I think this theme will continue. The F40 might be an indicator that we will see more 80s/90s cars in the future. Perhaps we’ll get a 959 or even Group B/Group C cars eventually.- 428 replies

Out of curiousity, I went to check the online LEGO store. All five of them are there. I’m just going to post one link, though. https://shop.lego.com/en-US/2018-Dodge-Challenger-SRT-Demon-and-1970-Dodge-Charger-R-T-75893 January 1st is indeed the release date, but some retailers might have them early as usual.- 428 replies

TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
Um, what? Do you think Brickset would have all of those set images on their website if all of those images if those weren’t official reveals from LEGO themselves? Walmart also has them on ther website, albeit it’s marked as unavailable and there are no images. They are also apparently in Walmart and Target’s inventory according to Brickseek. Although, I think January 1st is more likely, given when they were revealed. This image pretty much confirms that these aren’t a March release, because I highly doubt LEGO would lie about them being available in January. They might even show up at the end of this month, depending on stores.- 428 replies

TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
I also don’t think LEGO would revert back to what they did in 2014, where the first wave was announced as early as September, but they weren’t released until March. If you look at the dates between reveal and release since, they’ve actually been narrowing the gap between reveal and release. 2016 SC was revealed mid-December 2015. 2017 SC was revealed at the very end of December of 2016. 2018 SC was revealed at the end of January 2018. Maybe this is just a coincidence, but I can’t see them making us wait three months after revealing them. If Walmart has the 2019 sets listed on their website(sort of), if Brickset has the sets listed for both Wal-Mart and Target inventory(again, sort of), and if LEGO knowingly revealed them with their usual Winter releases, then I think it’s safe to assume that they’ll be available by at least January 2019, maybe even earlier.- 428 replies

This is very peculiar: https://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Speed-Champions-Conf-2019-LSC2-75891/287599461?u1=&oid=223073.7200&wmlspartner=PxE*ot9VSWM&sourceid=42255886334278202238&affillinktype=14&veh=aff It’s listed as unavailable, and the set’s image isn’t there, but Target doesn’t have this on their website. However, Wal-Mart does, and I’m willing to bet the others are there as well. Keep an eye out for these.- 428 replies

Speed Champions 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
Please explain why LEGO would reveal the 2019 SC sets at the end of November and then not release them until March. Yes, it’s true that it’s always been a March release, but the only other time they’ve been revealed this early was when the first wave was revealed, and that was actually revealed in September 2014. I do not seem them repeating that 4 waves later. The 2018 sets were revealed at the end of January, then showed up at the end of February/beginning of March. Now, I could be wrong and it is indeed March, but that may not be the case this time. Especially when they were revealed with literally all the usual Winter stuff, but I don’t know if that’s a first. Heck, OpenBagTwo showed me this via Reddit message: https://brickseek.com/target-inventory-checker/?sku=204-00-4965 I know this site isn’t always accurate, but I can’t image the sets would be listed in Target’s inventory three months in advance. EDIT: Found others. https://brickseek.com/target-inventory-checker/?sku=204-00-9769 https://brickseek.com/target-inventory-checker/?sku=204-00-0397 I also found 75893, but either I missed 75891 or it wasn’t there.- 428 replies

Speed Champions 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
Perhaps it’s merely wishful thinking, but given that the 2019 sets were revealed in November along with the usual December/January releases, maybe there’s a second wave coming? It’s probably unlikely, but the reveals alongside all the usual main themes could mean that it’s now being treated in a similar fashion, and since all of those themes always gets a second wave, maybe 2019 will be the year they try it with Speed Champions. I hope that made sense lol. In any case, I think this wave is actually a good indication that the theme is continuing. We have our first 80s/90s era supercar in the form of the F40, NASCAR could open the door to some vintage stock cars, the Dodge license means FCA, and they have the BMW license. Mini is owned by BMW, and we have seen BMW before in Technic. Furthermore, if we got one 80s/90s supercar, we could get more, and they have the licenses to do so. Think McLaren F1, Porsche 959, etc. Even though the Peugeot rally car on Ideas wasn’t approved, perhaps LEGO took notice. They do have the Audi license, and I’m sure they could get Lancia too. So, even if we don’t see another wave for 2019, I think this theme will continue. They’re putting a lot into this wave, so I don’t see it going anywhere anytime soon.- 428 replies

Maybe it’s just me, but does anyone else feel like the images appeared earlier than previous waves? I don’t recall images of the 2018 sets being shown with everything else like City and Creator. I wonder if the release date is earlier than the previous waves, since images were leaked with all the sets that usually have their official releases in December/January.- 428 replies

TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
And I’m sure it will. They just introduced new fenders, and I’m sure we will get at least one new color of those. I don’t think that would not make much sense to release a new fender mould if the theme wasn’t planned to continue for sometime. Even now, the bigger SC fenders are only seen in SC sets. Only 3 of the 24 sets that have them aren’t SC. We’ve seen the windscreens outside of SC, like with the CITY Speed Record Car, but I think those are also predominantly in SC. Beyond that, LEGO knows that there’s a market for this stuff, and unlike other themes that came and went, this theme still has a lot they could do, which only expands as new parts are added, be it in SC or elsewhere. Also, Ferrari and Bugatti are not particularly easy licenses to obtain, at least in the die-cast car world. LEGO can do it because they’re a massive company, but I think I’ve heard those licenses are expensive. I don’t remember, though. Also, given the Creator Mini Cooper and the rumored SC Mini set, it’s safe to assume that BMW is among the licenses as well. Furthermore, if FCA is on board, then LEGO has all of the big three, which means that LEGO would then have access to pretty much all the old muscle cars, from Hemi Cuda to Buick GSX to Olds 442 and so on. An FCA license would also open the door to some really cool Italian classics. As far as NASCAR goes, it would probably require more licenses, but given that Richard Petty has done non-profit work regarding children before, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind working with LEGO should they want to recreate one of his cars.- 428 replies

Speed Champions 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
Thing is that the Dodge set seems to be the $50 set, which is why I remembered that Raptor+hot rod set. It could still be a two car set, but idk how this one will turn out. As unlikely as it is, having Petty’s #43 Superbird in LEGO would be awesome. I really do wish it would be some sort of vintage stock car race scene with the two, but I just don’t see it happening :(- 428 replies

TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
Except they released a Ford Raptor+‘32 Ford hot rod transporter set back in 2016. The Raptor wasn’t that great, imo, but if they’ve done it before, they could well very try again if they wanted to. My second guess is some sort of drag race thing. There really isn’t much to do with a $50 set themed after Dodge. The third and most unlikely guess is a stock car set with both the winged warriors. I’d love a Stratos or any classic Maserati myself, btw.- 428 replies

Speed Champions 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
If Mini is going to be the $30 set, I assume Dodge will be the $50 set. I wonder if they’ll do another truck+car, like a 2017-2018 Ram and a 1968-1970 Charger. I’d like to see them try their hand at a truck again because with the overall improvements in the line, I think a new truck would be a massive improvement from the Raptor. Regardless, given that each wave since 2016 has had at least one older car, with this year having four, I think an old Mini and an old Charger/Challenger would fit right in. Also, with Speed Champions now being available at Wal-Mart and Target in the U.S. after TRU went bust, I wonder if that could increase our chances for a second wave of sets in 2019, especially since the inital info doesn’t mention a fourth $15 set or the usual big $100 set. We wouldn’t know about a second wave right now anyway, so perhaps we’ll get lucky in 2019. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking.- 428 replies

All those brands fall under FCA. A license partnership with Dodge would mean a license partnership with FCA, which may or may open up the chance for Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and Lancia as well.- 428 replies

I just wanna see what classic car or two we’ll be seeing, assuming that we will get at least one. I don’t see why we wouldn’t, though. I can certainly see a classic Mini and a 1968 Charger/1970 Challenger if that Mini and Dodge info turns out to be true.- 428 replies

I couldn’t decide between McLaren and Ferrari, but we didn’t get a Ferrari set in 2016, so.... My guesses/wishes Mercedes-Benz Project One McLaren Senna Mercedes-Benz 300SL C2 and C8 idk about the $50 set.- 428 replies

Chevy, Mercedes, and Ferrari. Maybe McLaren. I’m more interested in what classics we might see. They went from 2 in 2016 to 1 in 2017 to 4 in 2018. My first gueeses are either a 300SL or C2/C3 Corvette.- 428 replies

Speed Champions 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TheLegoPerson9 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that one of the small sets could be the Mercedes-Benz Project One, but I could see it being the focus of the $49.99 set as well. For the $29.99 double set, we’ve gotten an iconic classic in all of them, so I’m gonna guess... 1. C2 and C8 Corvette. Probably not but the C2 or early C3 fits. 2. DB4 GT/DB5 and a modern race car. Not sure which modern car could be included. 3. M1 or M1 Procar and M8 GTE. I think LEGO might have this license given that technic motorcycle and the Mini Cooper set. Probably less likely than the Vette one, though. 4. Either Dino 206 GT or Ferrari 308 GTB and Ferrari 488 Pista. The 206 started Ferrari’s mid-engined, V6/V8 powered line, but if I had to pick, I’d think the 308 would be more likely. 5. Ferrari 500 Superfast and Ferrari 812 Superfast. I don’t know how well known the former is.- 428 replies

If it follows the same format, we won’t be getting a full new police theme, but rather about four sets. 2015 had Swamp Police 2016 had Prison Island and three other sets. 2017 had a full wave 2018 had Mountain Police
