  1. I’m probably too optimistic about this, but I really don’t see the theme being discontinued right after we got a new fender mould, among other thoughts. The one thing the theme would definitely news to stay afloat is new brands, as well as utilizing other brands that are already present like Mercedes-Benz. The C8 is a cars that I do see being likely in the still hypothetical 2019 wave, along with the Mercedes-Benz Project One and McLaren Senna. It would be cool to get a C8 alongside either a C2 or an early C3, since I’m certain we will also see at least one iconic classic.
  2. Anyone see/hear anything yet? I’d assume no, since a new thread hasn’t been started, but still.
  3. I just hope they bring Aston Martin into Speed Champions now that they seem to have the license. If this theme will continue, they will need to branch out and add new brands. So far, all the classics we’ve seen are icons, so a DB5, regardless whether it’s the Creator Expert set or not, would fit perfectly. Now that I think about it, LEGO have the BMW license, right? I think there was a BMW motorcycle in the Technic line, and Mini is currently owned by BMW.
  4. Usually, but I don’t remember if Speed Champions were among them last summer.
  5. I could see this happening. They’ve introduced a number of new parts in this theme.
  6. Hypothetically speaking, if LEGO did get licensing from Toyota, it would potentially mean access to Lexus. That could lead to an LFA or LC500. The Supra was already mentioned, but if Toyota comes on board, I would personally be hoping for the 2000GT. I also saw BMW mentioned. IIRC, Mini is owned by BMW, so they must have some type of licensing with them, and I think there was a technic motorcycle as well. BMW also has a lengthy motorsport history, with cars such as the 3.0 CSL, M1 Procar, E30, V12 LMR, etc. A $30 BMW set with the M1 Procar and M8 GTE would be fantastic. Furthermore, I am a big fan of this year’s Ferrari Ultimate Garage set, and BMW is another brand that could easily fit in another set like it. It’s interesting that there hasn’t been a single Lamborghini yet. My only guess is because the modern Lamborghinis like the Aventador SV are extremely hard to pull off in this scale, perhaps even for the set designers. In addition to hoping theme lasts(even though I think it will), this is why I wish for two waves per year. There’s a lot they can do, and IMO, it doesn’t have to be second wave of 6-7 sets in the same year. It could easily be 3-4 and I think people would still be satisfied.
  7. Even if the DB5 is F40 size, it could still mean Aston Martin for 2019 Speed Champions. It’s doing pretty well for itself, so I’d imagine LEGO would want to keep it going, especially with all the new parts the theme has introduced. Maybe I’m too optimistic, but I just don’t see it being discontinued when taking everything into account. Now, assuming we are getting another wave for 2019, I’m personally hoping for the Mercedes-Benz Project One, and if they have/get the licenses for Aston Martin and Mopars, an Aston Martin Valkyrie and a 1968 Dodge Charger.
  8. ^A DB5 would also be nice, and they don't need to have any James Bond licensing. They can just do what they did with the Mustang. It was only TRU exclusive in North America, iirc. Furthermore, the 2017 and 2018 sets are now on the Target website for those within the United States. Also, automotive websites have been reporting on the theme since it's inception, and the theme has improved since and have added numerous new parts, and there's also the factor of licensing costs. I remember reading that Ferrari and Bugatti are not cheap licenses to get, and if they have licenses, they gotta use them, or it will be a waste. With the positive reception and the costs of new parts and licensing, it's likely not going anywhere. There's still a lot that they can do with it. assuming they get new licenses for the theme. The lack of a second wave is definitely strange, as I don't recall any other major theme that only has one wave per year. I would like to think that will change eventually, but I am not holding my breath.
  9. I had to order mine because Toys R Us decided it was only going to stock 5 of the 6. I might attempt some slight modding on the 488 and 250 GTO. Mainly, to fill the latter’s rear gap and see if it’s possible to move the 488’s cabin forward by one stud.
  10. Toys R Us does have the theme. It’s Walmart and Target that does not. My only guess is that’s some sort of deal between TLG and TRU over the theme, because I don’t know any other reason as to why they aren’t in other big box stores. With TRU closing 180 stories(thankfully, the only one nearby here is safe), maybe something will change. I still say that the attention it’s been getting from automotive sites is a big plus, though.
  11. I hope this build does the legendary McLaren F1 justice. It’s my favorite build so far. Only thing I want to change right now is the two 1x2 curved slopes in the center of the hood. I want to use a 2x2 instead.
  12. I don’t see why it wouldn’t continue into 2019. It’s been well received by automotive websites, and they invested a number of new part moulds into it. I would certainly love a second wave for 2018, and I don’t think it’s that farfetched to think. One thing I noticed is that there isn’t a $50-$70 set this time around. In the previous waves, you had a $30 set, a $50-$70 set, then the biggest set. This wave has a $30(maybe $40, but $30 seems plausible), and then straight to the biggest set.
  13. I’m definitely gonna try to get all of these.
  14. I may use this thread to post other SC MOCs later on, but first, here is my Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione: 1963 Corvette Grand Sport Roadster:
  15. Building these two has given me a even greater respect for the AFOLs who build six wide models of real cars. I thought the S7 would be more straightforward than the Vulcan. It was much harder than the Vulcan.
  16. If we're talking a museum setting, I would imagine a 250 LM, 250 GTO, and and another car from the 250 series. The 288 and 599 are awesome, but if we were to get a musuem setting, three of Ferrari's legendary 250 series seems like a better fit. Personally, I think an Enzo and/or a Carrera GT would make great Speed Champions sets. IMO, it is only a matter of time before older cars start to appear in the $15 sets, especially if they're sticking to a select few automakers.
  17. There's also the chance that we might start more older cars from these manufacturers. Outside of the Ferrari 812 Superfast, Ferrari 488 GT3, 2018 Porsche 911 GT3, maybe 2017 Ford GT road car, maybe a Ford Shelby GT350R, and the Hoonicron, I can't think of many more newer cars that Lego haven't done already. I doubt this is going to happen, but, I also doubt that people wouldn't love a classic 911/911 GT1/Carerra GT, 1965/1967/1969 Boss 429 Mustang, or an 288 GTO/F40/F50/Enzo in Speed Champions. Had there been one more manufacturer including in this wave, then I could see mostly newer cars. However, as it stands now, I'm not sure how they would produce this wave with just brand new cars. Kids would still enjoy them, because cool cars are cool cars, be it brand new or twenty years old. Kids would also learn about these old cars as well, especially so if one parent or relative is an enthusiast. AFOLs into cars would love seeing old gems of the automotive world in Lego minifigure scale. I'd say the odds of older cars being more frequent in this theme are getting more likely.
  18. I wish they would include an older car with the smaller sets, but, I doubt that's gonna happen in 2018. It would be pretty sweet if we got something like a 911 GT1 or a 250 GT0 as a $15 set. I also think Ferrari should get a Le Mans theme set like Porsche and Ford did. If so, the modern car would likely be the 488 GTE, but, I am not sure what the classic car would be. Maybe a 250 LM?
  19. Thanks for the kind words, but, I can't take all the credit, as I did follow a building instructions video to build the Diablo, hence why I posted the video as well. I just blacked out mine and used my preferred wheels and tires for 6-wide cars. As for an official Speed Champions Lamborghini, they would probably have to make new pieces anyway due to all the angles and wedges Lamborghini cars have, unless they can figure out a way to do it with existing parts while keeping it durable.
  20. I haven't really been posting here, so here are some various cars I've built recently. All except for two were built with help from YouTube videos, which I will link to. Lamborghini Diablo. Source of building instructions: Lykan Hypersport. Source of building instructions: This is my attempt at modernized the Screaming Patriot set from 1991. Koenigsegg CCGT Source of building instructions: 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo Source of building instructions: This was originally an attempt to build the limo from Palace Cinema, but, that vehicle proved to be really awkward looking, so I had some fun with this.
  21. I'm still waiting for a new ambulance. 2018 marks six years since the last one, not counting the plane from a year or two back. I am actually interested in the Mountain Police sets, as I have a rural police force that could use more work :P
  22. I'm just taking wild guesses here but here's what I think could be plausible. As stated before, I think a $30 Mustang duo set or even a Shelby duo set is likely. The largest set could also end up being Ford. Ferrari 812 Superfast Ferrari 488 GT3 Porsche 718 Cayman/Boxster or the newest 911. Some sort of newer Porsche race car. Alternatively, the largest set could be Ferrari or Porsche, and a Ford is one of these smaller sets.
  23. Museum and Theme Park would be my top picks from the poll. Fun at the Forest would be cool. Maybe that bear from the Forest Police sets can also have fun at the forest. Fun at Downtown could be a great set for city builders and city scenes if done right.
  24. I'm most interested in what possible new accessories, new moulds, and new recolors of existing pieces we get. That, along with the potential to use new minifigure prints, is what I look forward to most in a CMF release.
  25. We are long overdue for a new Hospital theme. I seriously hope we get one. As for police, it will probably be the next Forest/Swamp subtheme. Maybe Desert?
