  1. I'd be okay with Lego scaling down a Brachiosaur to make it more feasible. None of the other dinosaurs are exactly to scale, to be fair, and smaller is better than nothing. Besides, headcanon would allow me to declare it as young and be done with it.
  2. Oh, I definitely don't mind it, I just find it amusing. It definitely looks waaaay better than any other options would be without the mask piece. I wonder if the huge goggles would make it line up with the 2006 head or not... I found it. Definitely an attractive print.
  3. Those huuuuuuuge goggles look quite funny without Catwoman's mask, but will definitely look great with the mask on!
  4. While that head is good for Mysterio, I would definitely just prefer TLBM's piece used again, as I feel like it is perfect for Mr. Freeze.
  5. I see what everyone means by just how bright it is, but with the minimalist (relatively speaking for Riddler, mind you) style and how well it matches up to recent costumes, I quite like it. I'll need to see when the whole figure is eventually shown off, with head and hair/hat to be sure, but I think it's promising so far.
  6. Don't really like Gordon's head, I'll definitely keep using TDKR's head for my "main" Gordons. Mr. Freeze's looks good; I slightly prefer the goggled one we got from the Juniors set, but as long as they remember the goggles (ahem, vs. Aquaman set) I'll take just about anything. I like that new Batman face, though; printing goggles will actually make it worthwhile outside of a cowl too. Also, he isn't super tan anymore, so that's nice. The Robin torso looks interesting. Definitely Damian's Rebirth look. And for the life of me, I still cannot find the Riddler's torso. At this rate, I probably won't even be able to see it when it's physically in front of me after purchase!
  7. I haven't picked up the new Bat-Mech set yet to do this, but it absolutely looks better. Actually matches the movie look now.
  8. I quite like the Shazam fig. While it is clearly the comic look, it's not exactly the LB3 version (look at the printing above the bolt, or lack thereof, and the detail lines on the belt and sides next to the bolt are more naturally blended than outright black on the real figure). And I double-checked Lego DC Super-Villains, and it doesn't quite match that game either, since the belt is much smaller and doesn't continue onto the hips. That being said, I think the simplicity of the design here looks great. Too much detail on the arms or legs could have been easily off-putting, especially since he's not famous for arm/pants designs, and while a lack of boots is something that could have been done differently, we have to keep in mind that non-dual-molded legs are still the norm and not the exception for the theme. Superman himself only got boots once in a more expensive set, after all.
  9. I am quite disappointed. The older figures were great. These look too generic in their faces.
  10. Okay, these are all must-haves! Baryonix looks great, I LOVE the more appropriate-scale Dilopho (which will look cool by the bigger ones) and finally another Triceratops (I missed the first one all those years back). And while these might be a stretch for the typical fare of the theme, I adore the sets! So well designed and fun!
  11. I stopped giving episode-by-episode responses, mainly because of how difficult it was getting to avoid spoilers in the mix. I've watched up until the second-to-last episode, and I'll come back with more once I've seen the finale as well, but here are some thoughts on what I'd skipped over in no particular order: Jason Todd, currently, is not a very agreeable character, which is definitely the intention of the writers. If they decide to go the Red Hood route with him, he is definitely more likely to be the antagonistic villainous role than the sympathetic anti-hero he has become in recent years. Hank and Dawn get another episode focused mostly on them, and it is potentially the best written episode of any super hero show I've seen in a long time. It's a brilliant character study, touching on themes of trauma, and loss; saying any more will betray the unexpected places the episode went, but it truly tackles some brave material. This episode also has moments that feel like Watchmen done right. While it does not directly tie in to most of the main events (and even interrupts a major cliffhanger from the previous episode), the way it does tie in is extremely intriguing, and is definitely setting up something further down the road (in the finale? Maybe next season? I don't know yet). Donna Troy is badass. Can't wait to see her in costume down the road. One episode is particularly dark, and ends in a way not every Dick Grayson fan will necessarily agree with. While I feel like the events justified what happened overall, I'm still very torn myself. I feel like that moment is likely the one that will decide how a lot of people feel about season one of Titans. And, while it is not always a perfect show, it is definitely an investing show. To put it in comparison with a show many more of you have probably watched, it is definitely better now than the previous season of The Flash, and with the current season of The Flash currently just coasting on "playing it safe" (probably to cleanse the bad taste of the last season, tbh), Titans is definitely the show hooking me in more.
  12. This is absolutely phenomenal!
  13. Episode 5 was good showing the group dynamics coming together. There was a scene that feels like it happened earlier than it should have in the season (being vague to avoid spoilers), but nothing too immersion breaking. Thoughts: Oh god the egg scene. The Nuclear Family has definitely been one of my favorite recent show-adapted DC villains. That was very well done. The scene in question above, despite me wondering about the timing, does show Starfire very in-character, which is what I was concerned would be lacking. The fight scene in the end of the episode really felt awesome. More choreography like that will really help the show stand apart from others in this already crowded genre.
  14. Episode 4 is definitely the best yet. The Doom Patrol are all set up really, really well. And sure, it sets them up for their own show, but it doesn't feel gratuitous here; it felt entirely justified that this was the next step following the previous episodes. A few thoughts: Gar is extremely likable right off the bat. Friendly, just a little quirky, and quite fun to watch. His actor plays well off of the others, which is quite impressive since two of the others on the Doom Patrol have completely covered faces. Cliff, Rita, and Larry get decent screentime together, Cliff more so than the other two. I really like Cliff's robotic sound effects, and the setup they did for his eyes looks nice. Rita's condition is played up exactly as horrifically as could be expected, to great effect. And though we didn't get to see the Negative Spirit come out (which is a shame), Larry cooking and dancing to Thunderstruck at the same time was a perfect establishing scene for him. The Chief is a good combination of slightly off amoral mad scientist and caring doctor, although the former is more important to this episode. Even though he didn't do too much this episode, until right near then end, Dick's actor may be the best of the bunch. He is so good at conveying what he is supposed to convey. Kory finally had a great moment of compassion that really felt like Starfire. And, of course, we finally have the whole team lined up together now. I'm very excited to see more.
  15. Same. We have so many black-suited Batman, between the ones we kept getting in the Superheroes line and the ones we got for his movie (not to mention the handful we got for the original Batman line, printed with gold instead of yellow, which is reeeeeeally close to Keaton's Batman anyway). Even though those aren't directly from the movie and are based on the comics, the reason he started wearing the black suit in the comics was because they did it in the movie, so it's just a roundabout adaptation anyway. I would much rather see something like a new version of the 2003 Jim Lee Batsuit, which has my favorite Bat-symbol, or a more accurate Dark Knight Returns suit, or any number of unique or never-done Batsuits. Any new variations on Joker will be welcome as well, although I'll admit that his costumes often (not always, mind you) do have the same basic principles in mind. Getting one with a top hat, or even a new piece for a circus ringleader hat (such as the climax of The Killing Joke) would be so cool to see. Heck, even a reddish suit and some facepaint to be an unofficial adaptation of Joaquin Phoenix's look would be something cool and different.
  16. Through episode 3. Decent, although a lot of the first half of the episode feels like it was made of scenes I've seen done elsewhere, in particular a brief scene where Starfire beats up a guy and his thugs harassing the waitress in a small diner, which didn't really even add anything to the plot. Dick's childhood scenes also were exactly what we'd already come to expect, and though they did come around to connect to the present-day stuff with Rachel, they didn't really do anything they felt essential to the plot. The second half picks up the slack, though, with more (great) scenes involving the Nuclear Family, and every scene with the Nun were extremely compelling; both of these were highly strengthened by brilliant musical scores. A few thoughts: Garfield just sort of showed up, conveniently, to interact with Rachel briefly, only to do nothing else at all in the episode. I suspect it is so that later on, she can recognize him to bring him in to the fold more easily than if he knew nobody else in the main roster, but it still felt pretty out-of-nowhere. Starfire still doesn't feel like Starfire should, I think. Now, for the role the writers want her to play, the actress is doing a very good job, and near the end there was a hint of a possibility that she'll be eased into what we expect her to be like, when her memories are back, but I still can't guarantee it. Dick, even being in the dark place he is, definitely is feeling like a proper live-action Dick Grayson, no doubt on the strength of the actor himself. I wasn't as impressed by the kid actor of him in the flashbacks, but at least he looks plausibly like the older version, so I'll let it slide. I really like the dialogue-free scene of him just viewing the crime scene in this episode. Ouch. That fork. As before, the horror is reaaaally compelling, since we don't often get true horror played into Super Hero media. I'm so down for more.
  17. Once again great! Immediately identifiable, but very impressively detailed! My favorite bit is definitely the lower level with the greenery poking through.
  18. Slowly, I've been playing through the reboot/remake of Ratchet & Clank, hopping on every few days and beating a little bit more. It's fun, and very pretty, but I feel like it's a little more sanitized than it should be.
  19. Watched episode 2. All the focus was between Dick, Rachel, and newly introduced Hawk and Dove. Neither Starfire or Beast Boy show up, although as well-focused as the episode is, I can't complain at all. The storytelling was actually quite organic here, with many details left to implication instead of blatant exposition dump like a lot of shows lean on, which legitimately shocked me. A few thoughts: Alfred('s voice) gets a small appearance, which is nice, since I didn't think we'd see anything Alfred related this early on. I approve. Despite Hawk being all about fighting, per his character, we actually don't see a lot of him fighting onscreen, so that was interesting. The villains here, the Nuclear Family, had quite a good introductory scene, although I was a little puzzled, because (without going into spoilers), they got information out of someone that I didn't think was supposed to have that information. Maybe that will get cleared up in the next episode, but I am currently perplexed. A couple of times, especially in the flashback fight scene, some of the blood squib effects were not very believable. Later on is mostly better, but not 100%. Still a very interesting episode though. They have my attention, which is good, because Black Lightning finally lost my attention earlier this season and I wanted something else to watch in its stead.
  20. Having played through both parts of the Aquaman DLC, I feel like the DLC quality is definitely going up compared to past games. These are about the level of quality in the base game's levels, and though they are still a little too short compared to a standard level, they are closer to what they should be (Lego Batman 3, as I distinctly remember, had levels so short as to feel insignificant). I hate that the first level is essentially all boss fight, but it also has some clever boss fight moments, so it is still a very well put-together boss fight for the franchise's standards. I did notice, several times, that it felt like the devs weren't allowed to see proper footage of some things from the movie, but were given the general details instead. The second level is particularly guilty of this, although it gets the spirit of the scene across well enough. The characters are pretty awesome, too, although most are far too similar, with almost everyone having slight variations of Aquaman's powerset. Atlanna looks great with her silver trident, though, and Mera's water-weapons in combat look so cool. The Trench Creature, however, looks all wrong. The head and face are just recolored from the Swamp Monster from Monster Fighters, which is soooo bad because A) the head shape is entirely different, and B) the eyes aren't given big slit pupils in either the movie or the comics. Then the dumb things are colored a light baby blue, which is even dumber looking than the bad head piece. The movie has them as black and red, and the comics have them (usually) as black with glowing electric blue lines, similar to other deep sea creatures.
  21. After seeing your Harry Potter build, I wanted to see what else you have made, and I absolutely love the character in all of your stuff, so you have a new flickr follower out of me! This build in particular has just soooo much detail in a well-contained space, and it's fantastic! How long does it take you to build something like this?
  22. I wonder if the special anniversary Batman could be something like his first appearance costume. Hopefully, there are mostly new figures and not too many repeats, although I kind of feel like we'll get several of the same Batman figures, be it new prints or the Rebirth design again. I really hope they don't just make more of the black-suited Batman we got waaaaay too many of after the DC theme started. For the "Pursuit" set, I would definitely love to see a Jokermobile. I just hope the Batmobile is something distinct from the several we've already gotten. Fingers crossed the Freeze set will reuse the new pieces TLBM got him for his dome, only in different colors. Clayface would be great in either bigfig or minifig form, and since it is a big set, the plausibility does seem to go up for a bigfig. And maaaaaybe I'm just being optimistic, but the Riddler heist sounds like it could plausibly have a location build instead of just vehicles. We shall see.
  23. Finally got around to setting up my DC Universe account, and watched the first episode. All in all, I agree that it was actually a solid episode. Robin's fighting still seemed questionably brutal with an apparent neck-stabbing in the mix, but it was definitely made to look much worse back in that first trailer (the bit with the car window still made me actively wince, mind you). Still, I can see what the brutality was actually going for this time around. My only hesitation currently is just how out-of-character Starfire seems right now; that being said, it may just be because she's currently amnesiac, but seeing her actively snap a beaten man's neck seemed unfitting. I'll wait to pass judgement until I know more, but sheesh. She seems a little psychotic. All in all, though, I look forward to watching more. I definitely loved the horror getting played up the way it was.
  24. That's neat! I like it when weird, little mishaps like this happen. Always makes things interesting.
  25. I speculate that we will either get two new dinosaurs, or one "new" one and one triceratops that we haven't seen used but once, years ago. Also there will probably be one human character who is repeated two or three times without variation, possibly Owen some more.
