DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
BaneShake replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
Jay Garrick is my favorite Flash, so I'm highly pumped for this figure. With Bat-mite in tow, I am amused how Batman keeps getting his versions of villains based on Superman villains wide-released before Superman's original version (Bat-mite to Mr. Mxysptlk and Batzarro to Bizarro a few years back). TDKR Joker sounds interesting, too, as it is going to be very distinct from our previous Mistah Js. And, of course, a new Superman variant is quite appealing. While it is a shame we don't get a first appearance look, he also hasn't gotten a modern comic look yet, so this is honestly my current preference, as Superman is more likely than anyone else to get his original look than just about anyone. -

I'm okay with Mechs only if they get us new versions of characters, or new characters altogether. Minifig scale versions of former bigfigs, like Darkseid or Killer Croc, would be nice. A Polka-Dot Man mech would obviously be ideal. All things considered, though, I don't expect DC mechs. Unlike Mighty Micros, where we knew about both companies getting them simultaneously, we've only heard of Marvel's side, and I suspect they wouldn't stagger a smaller range like this less than 6 months to a year apart, since small items seem to be restocked frequently. -

Oh my god. I absolutely need to see a Seppuku Syndicate series out of DC now. Hold on while I go phone Geoff Johns. -

That happy face for Wonder Woman is absolutely perfect. Same goes for Bumblebee, and I couldn't tell from the original pics, but there is some subtle detail for her body shape under her stripes, so she definitely looks a lot less "simple" than I first thought. I like her 'fig more every time I see it. Cheetah's spots still look a little iffy, almost as if they had been printed on by a customizer instead of actual printing through TLG. I hope that changes when I see official images. Cyborg is still just so perfect. He's exactly as '80s as he should be. I never thought we'd get an original look Cyborg, and I'm so pumped. He might be my favorite in the entire bunch. -

Don't forget Cheetah. There are TWO whole villains to take on all the heroes! -

HELL YES, MISTER MIRACLE!!! And that Aquaman looks gorgeous! I really like how this series has gotten a handful of looks I never expected Lego to adapt for repeat heroes. -

That '89 Batman gets more fascinating the more I see it. Bumblebee certainly looks quite fun; I'm glad she's finally getting minifig-ed since she was beaten to the punch years back by a minidoll. Really like the printed wings. Cheetah's certainly well-printed, although since it's not my favorite version of the character, it's definitely the one I'm least excited for. That money bag is great, though. I would definitely like to see more of the alt faces that Cheetah, Wonder Woman, and Bumblebee at least seem to imply. I doubt they're always just angry. -

Love these guys as well! I'm pumped that Cyborg has a printed face below his molded headpiece, so if I wanted to do him in a red hoodie with the hood up (like he did in Doom Patrol), I totally could. Huntress's mask print is not my all-time favorite, but it'll grow on me, as the hair really is good for her. Very surprised (and glad) her costume gets its classic cross, as Lego tends to steer away from religious imagery (probably since it looks so much more "t" than some looks with this version). Early appearance Batman is also nice. I'm not sure, but I think he did sometimes have that type of belt early on, at least in some of the art. Does anyone know the story of Cyborg's purple chain here? -

Exactly. I think they're probably willing to pull versions of characters from whatever they decide will sell well. -

Now THAT is an accurate Keaton Batman. I said before I would only accept said fig if they did something special with it, and OH BOY did they listen. I'm not even a huge fan of Burton's Batman movies and I need this in my life. -

So, you guys may remember the shirtless Aquaman design used for TLM 2 which never surfaced (pun acknowledged) as a physical minifigure. PURE SPECULATION, but I wonder if they might have decided to fold that design into this CMF instead of using him in a set. -

Psht. You guys wanting "normal obscure" while I'm out here hoping for "Grant Morrison obscure." Have fun being WAAAAAY more likely to have your ideas met! All kidding aside, I would be so down for a Constantine 'fig, as I figure a CMF would be the only place we'd get one. However, I know he's not as visually appealing or toyetic as most costumes go, so I'm not holding my breath. -

As a major DC fan, I love what I see here. Sinestro's classic blue is one of the variants for a preexisting 'fig that I've always been okay with (it's typically shown as his "normal clothes" when his yellow construct suit goes away, nowadays), and all of the new figures feel desirable but less likely to have appeared in sets otherwise. That Metamorpho is downright perfect! -

Yeah, the colors of that look spot-on for the "Battle at Big Rock" version of the Allosaurus that has begun to pop-up all over the place now, so I'd say it's very plausible we'll see that in a set down the road. I'd be all for it, too; Allosaurus is one of my favorite dinosaurs, was the top-tier predator in the actual late Jurassic period, and looking at the poster, is actually relatively to scale, unlike the way-too-big Carno from before. Fingers crossed on this one. -
It's from the 2007 Bionicle minifig-scale sets. I had to use the extra neck items to mask the fact that it leaves much more of the neck bar exposed, as it was designed for a different type of torso and has a much shallower hole.

Aaaaaaaaand that's why people fear comics. Not I. Bring it on! GIVE ME THE WEIRD AND OBSCURE CHARACTERS WITH THEIR BIZARRE CONTINUITY, AND LET ME PAY $4 A BLIND BAG FOR 'EM, LEGO. -

Finally, some purple goggles. I've just been using his 2012 red goggles on his Civil War purple outfit, and while it's sufficient, I wish it matched. -

I don't always prefer the CW or the movie versions over comic versions, but adaptational minifigs are better than none at all. Sure, I'd prefer Black Lightning or the Atom's comic looks, but I'd be happy just to get either in a normal release. Even better, imagine if they made IMPROVED versions of the SDCC exclusives; imagine Zur-en-arrh but with dual molded legs, or Atom with an actual helmet piece. The exclusives are still technically exclusive, the general public benefits, and the scalpers would be neutered faster than you can say "tee hee." -
Hey guys, I figured out a perfect purist Cliff Steele!

I wonder if the CMF series will be used as a way to cover characters who might not normally constitute sets. Someone like Constantine, for example, seems much more likely in a CMF than a set proper. Black Mask, soon to be appearing in an R-rated movie, or the Doom Patrol, who are in a VERY mature show, would also make sense. Obviously, we could guarantee at least a few of the "big" name characters as a few slots. Batman would be almost a guarantee; Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash also seem quite likely. Plenty of characters could be made with preexisting molds, too. Characters like Arkham Knight or Robotman could use Firefly's helmet, if printed correctly. Black Mask could use the new skull head mold from the recent Ninjago line. Creeper's basically already got every piece he'd need already in existence. Huntress, if going for a more "classic" post-Crisis look, could potentially even use Batwoman's cowl in purple with black hair. -

A molded cowl like that render has would be about the only reason I would be okay with an '89 Batman, seeing as the black suit we've seen adapted 1000000x originated from the 1989 movie in the first place. We don't need any more suits that look the same without something significant to make it stand out. -

On the one hand, I'm really glad it's only an obscure Batman variant and not a desirable new character like they tend to do. On the other hand, I'm also the kind of weirdo who would really want a Zebra Batman in the first place. Weird question, why did they skip arm printing on him? -
Not to be redundant, but here's the Lexosuit I built a while back.
