Debated posting this here vs Sci-Fi since it's both a spaceship MOC and a Rock Raiders MOC.... Anywho, LMS Pathfinder is a 4-person advanced scout vessel that was on a reconnaissance mission and became separated from the other Rock Raiders when LMS Explorer passed through the wormhole to Planet U.

nice use of color, and I love how cozy the cockpit looks.

Thanks! It's an original design for Space Jam 2023, although the cargo ships bear a certain resemblance to Federation vessels in Star Trek (if a bit more colorful). A ring station has precedent in a bunch of SF settings including Halo and Larry Niven's Ringworld (or as a conceptual variant of Freeman Dyson's eponymous "Dyson sphere"). This one is actually small enough that it would probably need to be a spin-ring with artificial lighting + day/night cycles, similar to a cross-section of an O'Neill cylinder like Babylon-5 (the obvious inspiration for the name). [edit] BTW, also recorded a little video showing off how it all comes together:

2008-2010 were a rough few years for sci-fi on TV....can't believe they wasted the setup potential of that S5 finale.

Agricultural ring station and a major hub for trade and culinary tourism in the sector. 3 cargo transports are in various stages of picking up shipments, requiring that they transit the portal between the inside and outside of the station. An atmospheric rotor-craft can also be seen taking sensor readings over one of the fields. Despite being an engineered ecosystem, the resort hotel has difficulty keeping seaweed from washing up on its white sand beach.

Thanks! I run a computer graphics company for work, so I'm always trying to push my Blender skills in some way, even for my hobbies. 😅 I'm flattered you couldn't tell on a casual glance! And yeah, I figured if I end up buying the parts it would kinda break the vibe of "space city" a little bit if it had to awkwardly balance on a stand.

Thanks! that was the last one I did (except for the lightsaber hilt building) and I feel like it really tied everything together! Thanks! I just bought a huge lot of bulk bricks for my toddler, and building a variant on this spaceship with the red doors was the first thing I made while playing with him! hah, no, this is actually a digital build (so far, will have to do some final color palette adjustments before I order any parts), but I designed it to be hung from transparent monofilament fishing line for a physical display. There's a Technic axle tying the whole thing together from the astromech head on the bottom up to the cone on top, so I would just tie a bit of line around around each side where the pneumatic t-junctions come in and hang it from the underside of a shelf.

Awesome - haven't seen Stargate builds in a while, and your Deathglider is the best I've seen! I did an F-302 over a decade ago, maybe I should update it with some more modern techniques (although the portable Naquadah power generator still holds up )

[MOC] Red Planet Interceptor - NoVVember build
elfprince13 replied to elfprince13's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks! It's really too bad, Life on Mars was the 2000s theme I'd most like to see make a comeback. The rarity of "peaceful aliens" plus the cool hypersled system was a killer combo. Figuring out how to use the arches + how to dock with the sled system were my main starting points for the build. Yeah - sand purple seems to have been used a lot as "neutral", so I wanted another accent color in there besides the engines and other "neutral" blacks / grays. Thought about going sand red or maybe dark tan, but honestly I think green + purple makes for a nice "alien" aesthetic. Good eye - yes, one of my main motivations for a digital MOC is not having to compromise on exotic color palettes to achieve the vision I had in my head (plus I'm often noodling on stuff for Lego Ideas submissions, and hoping we'll get some of these parts actually made one day ). But I do have an alternate palette version that Stud.io tells me is actually achievable (although I haven't dared look yet at the price tag). I'll try and post some pictures later this week.- 8 replies

[MOC] Red Planet Interceptor - NoVVember build
elfprince13 replied to elfprince13's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thank you! Although I must object that the "Life on Mars" and "Mars Mission" themes are technically distinct ;) Hopefully with a ship like this the native Martians will be able to drive off the alien invaders and resume peaceful and scientifically productive relationships with the human astronauts.- 8 replies

Got inspired and did a second NoVVember build for 2023, this time inspired by the Life on Mars theme. Yes, that's Cassiopeia piloting directly from a hypersled! The landing gear folds up and in to push the hypersled into the piloting position!

hah - that's about as modern as my Bionicle knowledge extends. I'm disassembling & sorting a bulk buy now and have no idea who most of the figures are.

Looks like a Vic Viper to me! And agreed on the NPU - that's a Rakshi backpiece, right?
-
Really nice job puling it off at minifig scale!

Not sure if anyone here is familiar with the "Biblically Accurate X" category of memes where X has way more eyes than it's supposed to, but that was my main inspiration for this build (beyond just the fact that it's NoVVember).

[MOC] Lake Champlain Horse Ferry (Working Replica)
elfprince13 replied to elfprince13's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks! And that's awesome - I'm always pleasantly surprised when people have heard of teamboats before! I'm not a diver so I've only seen the 1/2 scale replica at LCMM (although one of my co-workers took a dive this summer). The model prices out to about $1000 and the deal with my wife is I'm waiting to see if I advance in the current Lego House competition on Lego Ideas before I bite the bullet and hit order, but if I don't end up advancing, I'll try and set up a proper animation in Blender, although the physics sim for horses seems likely to be a pain in the rear.
