  1. yes. I was. either way, wonderful job.
  2. This really is a great MOC. One suggestion however, and this is based on my own experience, is to perhaps throw some studs into the mix of the outer appearance. I know usually all tiles looks good, but sometimes it can makes things too bulky, almost pixelated. Last year MODed the UCS Tumbler. Among other things, I added all tiles to the outer studs. Although generally the feedback was positive, I think in hindsight it looked a little too bulky. Your MOC gives perhaps the same feeling. Wonder what it might looks like mixing in a few studs to the outside.
  3. they were really quick to respond about the compatibility thing, but not so fast about shipping timeline. I have not heard anything in regards to that question. Perhaps if many start to press the issue they will address it.
  4. Well, come DEC when the product is released, they will open the platform so that others can create an app if they want to and have the skills. I personally, do not. So unless there is a user out there that knows how to do that, I will be getting a new phone b/c my BuWizz is already purchased. I am already nearly done with the project that I am going to put 'er in.....
  5. uh oh.... About what? for what it is worth they got back to me quickly. I went ahead and bought one. I've wanted a new phone anyways...
  6. I will answer my own question. The BuWizz folks got back to me.... no app for windows phone.....
  7. can I get an update on this product? As far as I understand it, because I missed the initial start up period, if I buy one of these now, it won't ship until December right? also, I have a windows phone. I don't see anything about this being compatible with such phones. Am I outta luck? Our any hope of this being made to be compatible with such device.
  8. The recent post made by @shineyu got me thinking about 2.2 RC tires and Lego. To date, I had not heard of many using them. I have with a previous Unimog I built, and he did with his fantastic L1150 Wheel Loader. most use 1.9 or smaller. This is likely due to lack of Lego rims that are compatible with them. Shineyu used Lego part 22969 and I used two 64712 parts, placed towether (interlocking) for my rim. Really, these are the only two rims I know of (Lego) that work with larger, 2.2 RC tires. Until now. I tried the new Porsche rims and they do work. I thought, because of the lack of sidewall of the tires the rim was created for would lead to too little depth in the rim and RC tires would fall right off. But I tested it today and the Porsche rim is indeed compatible with larger 2.2 tires. Now.... this obviously ain't pretty. Porsche rims were not meant to house super swamper tires. But, there are ways to cover up the spokes for a look that would be more common on truck/crawler type vhicles... But at least now we haave more options for rims if anyone wants to begin using 2.2 tires more often.
  9. With that definition then anything really is possible. Even Lego flying!!! lol.... but really. Not sure that's how it works. But I appreciate the enthusiasm. I really do. As mentioned before, I really enjoy your work. I will shelve the conversation for now, at least on my end. Don't want to distract from this great build, which I feel we are doing. In regards to Rm8's creation, I must say that I love the back tires on this. I built my own dragster with these tires and I expect to see continue to see some great MOCs with these tires.
  10. Sariel, always have enjoyed your work and likely always will. I have used your GIMP youtube tutorial and also purchased your book and enjoy your contributions as well as your personal projects. But in the example above, I almost (well, actually I do like) the original photo better than the "processed" (aside from the text at the bottom, that is totally cool) one. The bottom photo looks too made up to me. Wonder if you ever get that type of feedback from your fans. Wonder what others think of my observation. Perhaps kinda like guys who like their gals (and not trying to be indecorous here, just think the analogy applies) "natural" instead of made up and all full of silicone (no..... not ABS ) and make-up........
  11. Oh dear.... @boxerlego - gotta love ya and the RC debate thing. Perhaps we all need to define "RC" - if we are willing to accept the worst performing RC out there, brushed motors, like 20 year old stuff then perhaps we can compare Lego with RC. But we kinda have to be fair right? Best of Lego with best of RC..... If we are comparing apples to apples then we have to be fair. There is no comparison and never will be (RC cars with brushless motors easily exceed 120 KM/h). I am not trying to be biased. I love Lego and trying to push the boundaries just like the next guy. But never mind the lack of power from Lego. It is just basic.... in your own words..... "science" ---- ABS will not hold up to metal parts, let alone stainless steel or even yes, there are some crazed RC fans out there, just like us crazed Lego fans, who push the limits and go for titanium and other parts. Basic difference in the makeup of these substances. RC motors, gears, drive shafts etc. can turn up to tens of thousands of RPMs .... more than enough to melt ABS. Lego could go in the direction of Minds-i.com, and then be much closer to RC. But as Lego is now they are eons behind RC. Anyways.... not to distract from this post. Too much fun and a great job. I love this build and agree that although the A model itself was not all that great the colors, tires, and other pieces make it a great set to buy (although somewhat expensive)
  12. When I made this post here: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/431720 I literally put myself in a room and just experimented. I tried different ISO settings, light amount and types (natural light, yellow light, etc.) and many other variables. I had a sheet of paper and made notes of associations and correlates of the variables I was changing (settings, light, etc.) and the pics were labeled so that when I referred to them later I could treat them like subjects....i.e. I knew all the variables associated with them that led to their properties. I found this SO much more helpful than reading about taking quality photos, and much more fun and hands-on. People have given tons of good concrete advice here. I would offer perhaps a step further. I would challenge you to take an hour or two, and not even be concerned about good/bad quality photo. Just experiment. Learn what light settings, amount, etc. is associated with both good and bad shots. Take a shot with a tripod, and then take one without one. Look at the differences. Label your pictures so that you know the settings and light exposures are associated with each one. Purposely TRY to create a bad photo as well as a "good" one. Knowing the variables that lead to a bad photo are just as important as knowing those that lead to a good one. This might sound really labor intensive but actually it can be really fun. Put on a lab coat if you want to Act like you are your own mad scientist of sorts.....
  13. I like thick books and I cannot lie, you other brothers cant deny... that when a book walks in with a large spine and those rectangular things in yo' face....
  14. ....and I see that you used part 22969. But, to my knowledge, this part only came in 5 sets and none of them in yellow. The rims in your model are yellow, so just wondering how you got them in this color?
  15. Lime green is just fantastic with the black. Very well done.
  16. So in search for ideas for a mini engine that functions, is good looking, but also something I could make a V10 I came across a mini V8 on Buster's webpage. Great little engine! I know there are other designs for mini engines out there, Sariel has one for a V12 and there are other ideas on youtube, but I was not a fan. Came across Busters and liked it. But, I wanted to see how functional it was. So I built it, in V10 version, with just a few aesthetic additions. Worked like charm! My build is not done, but thought I would share at least this engine. The friction is also less than I would have thought. Ran very well on M PF engine. Highly recommend for anyone who is building something that needs mini, as opposed to the Lego versions, of engine.
  17. Jerry, you have also helped answer questions for me and add much to the community. You will be sorely missed. As others have said, so many other things in life more important than a hobby. Go attend to those things. The talent is certainly there, now go find the opportunity.
  18. These updates really will take some time to get used to. But already I am becoming more and more used to them. One other weird thing I noticed though, on my signature block, all the text used to be in black and orange; now only parts are in black and orange, other parts are in gray. I will have to play with this to fix it. Like I said, weird......
  19. What a beast! Great build..... like it very much. Tires look about the same as ones I used a while ago on my Unimog. At the time, I thought they were the largest third party tires used on a MOC. Are yours 2.2 RC tires? I had to use two #64712 elements to make this tire work. But, I don't have and 22969 so I don't know which has the larger diameter. Anyways, great job.
  20. And..... this reply did not work. I have tried several times. Lets try this.... Okay..... I think this is better. What I wanted to say was "days" doesn't help me. Sorry for my ignorance, but do you mean "days" from a solution?
  21. Reading through things and trying to answer my own question, but where are we on the updates? I can respond to conversations, and on a newly posted on I can view youtube videos, but I am still cannot see photos. Is this normal? Lastly, not that it is a big deal or anything, I have lost a few "posts" to my overall post number. I am not sure how this could have occurred, anyone else had this problem?
  22. Interesting indeed, yet, I am still a huge proponent of third party tires. I think LEGO tires are not worth the save. A+ for effort though.....
  23. Geeeezo....this is stunning. any chance of a video? I know most operations are done by hand, but would still be nice to have a video
  24. Holy cow the work that went into this!! Great job....
  25. Welcome to EB! While this really is a greart community, I am afraid it may not really help much in your question. You mention "diverse" in your post alot, and I guess my anwer would include the same. Building is just too "diverse" to give you a straight answer. We would need to know what you would like to build. Color of the MOC/set, functions, PF elements, etc. are all important to consider. Brickowl versus BL? You really first still need to know what parts you need, then look at the BO vs. BL question. Although I will say that BO is gaining, but BL is still the most comprehensive way to buy LEGO out there..... cheapest? Perhaps not, but it all depends what you are looking for. Heck, even buying from TLG directly, through pick a brick, can be cheaper for some parts. Emphasis on SOME. As I mentioned, concern yourself not only with functions you will need (actuators? pneumatics? motors?) because these can also add heaftily to the price. For what it is worth, for someone who has been back in the building game for about four years, after buying dozens of sets and finally having built up a pretty good collection of parts, it seems like I really never am lacking for parts but in the liftarms arena. Special parts, i.e. motors, actuators, etc. I have plenty of. Connectors, pins, and axles, for some reason have all built up at a steady pace to a point that I don't them anymore. Liftarms and panels, that it is the only area I really shop on BL anymore for.........(for the most part)
