What are your Lego Star Wars collecting habits?
AwesomeBantha replied to Something_Awesome's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Definetly OT-because there are Banthas in IV and VI ! However I do occasionally buy PT sets, like 75021 (RGS) because they are awesome! I also own a mishmash of SWTOR and CW sets, mostly gifts and figure packs (useful for customs!) Did I mention that Tatooine is my favorite planet ? -
Amazing MOC, Rolli! Love your use of parts-Unikitty horns and Diver masks! Good luck in the competition!
-
I didn't just mean SW, I just used it as an example, because it's one of the themes where change is the most evident. City, Space, and even Chima are so much better now than they would have been 10-5 years ago!

That's not what I meant-Darth Vader sells very well. He sells so well, in fact, that it's one of the few minifigs that everyone wants to have. LEGO knows this, so they only include him in expensive sets/ones with high profit margins-the Millenium Falcon, SSD. Therefore, TLG knows that they can sell a set with Darth Vader and one other astromech at exorbitant rates, and so, logically, they will (assuming the set gets produced). Mace Windu is a popular character, not the most popular, but, again, he, like Darth Vader, is used as the selling point for various sets (AT-TE, Palp's Arrest).
-
Well, yes, they are a bit high. But Anakin is a very popular and beloved character among the younger SW fans-therefore the set is very easily sold. In order to sell a set with Mace Windu, a cool but not too popular character, TLG would, IMHO, most likely include some battle droids-they're cheap and kids love them-another $5. Add an astromech and you've got $10 more than 75038-$35. Maybe they would throw in a usless rock structure or even more enemies, and that's $40 right there. Darth Vader is, in exception of the watch, used as a selling point of $130+ sets-7965 Falcon, 75055 ISD. Plus, Darth Vader doesn't have a Sith-Fighter in the movies, so it would be harder to sell. So if it does get produced, which is highly unlikely, LEGO would inflate the cost because the parents of Vader-wanting children would obviously rather pay $40 for a set with the one figure rather than $130. LEGO prices are rising, but we've got to remember that the set and minifigure quality is also rising. That's why I'm happy to pay more for a better set.

Yep, I'm personally amazed every time I build a new set! It's really amazing to see how far LEGO has come in the past few years; In 1999 we got this And as recently as last year we got this: While some of the new releases might not be so great (looking at you, B-Wing!) we have to remember that, still, LEGO design is so much better than it was only 10 years ago!
-
I, personally, would get City Square. It's cheaper, has a ton of minifigs, buildings and vehicles. It's basically the "battle pack" of LEGO City! Plus, here's an interesting idea-you could keep the crane, and make a construction site where the workers "assemble" sets that you're building: You could buy a set, and empty the parts in the building site. Every time you get a new set you would then switch the older set (already on display) with the newer set (in pieces) Then you assemble the older set. That way, if you have visitors, every time they visit there would be something new ! Have fun building!

Can I Discuss Third Party Vendors?
AwesomeBantha replied to CrazyDalton777's topic in Forum Information and Help
Yes, like SamuraiTurtle said, all topics relating to custom accessories, custom minifigures, or anything else relating to figure customization belong in the "Minifigure Customization" Forum. Here at Eurobricks, we welcome all forms of customization, so don't be shy-we'd love to see more of your posts ! -
Thanks for the upload, jamie75! It would be great if there was a micro-Ghost, which is, in my opinion, the best of the three. If I find one I'll be sure to tell you!

September LEGO Store Calendar - Classic Space VIP set!
AwesomeBantha replied to just2good's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for the leak, Just2Good! Really want the spaceman, but $100? Seriously? Not really interested in the Fire-Bike either. Last year, there was an awesome promotion with a Clone Liutenant ( ) that lasted two whole months! Let's hope that there's another SW exclusive in October! -
Thanks Regimus! Working on it right now! I've already got Olive Green and Dark Bley, any suggestions for the next color ? Can't wait to build it in real bricks!

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
AwesomeBantha replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, in my opinion, the trooper bay is kind of lame. There's nothing that goes in it and LEGO really missed out on an opportunity. However, many fans didn't like how the speeder took up space, both in the old ATs and the Gunships. LEGO left the interior of 75021 empty, and so they might be encouraging AFOLs to MOD the interior to suit their tastes. -
LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
AwesomeBantha replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
In Australia, LEGO, especially Star Wars, sets are often A LOT more expensive (sometimes 2x the US price). Nowadays, in my opinion, most sets are "meh"-you'll buy them on sale but not really for full price. So, even if a set is 50% off down under, it could still be full US price, and therefore not be worth buying. If LEGO wants to sell more, they should make the US price more or less universal-maybe $5 more or less on a medium size set-so people in the EU/Asia/Australia region won't feel ripped off. -
Interesting ship-I like the twin cargo bays at the back! As BrickDoctor said, it's a little too white, but other than that it's a very well done MOC! Good luck on the SoNE judging!

Great work, Regimus! I hope that TLG will make more alt-color ETA-2s, so that we can have an Ultimate Space Battle (updated 7283!) It would be great if this thread got more replies; I can't wait to see more color scheme designs! Planning on doing a camo-ish 75021, does anyone have the LDD file?

BrickFair VA-What to Expect?
AwesomeBantha replied to AwesomeBantha's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Thanks Legogal. Your advice is useful and I hope that I can meet you. I'll only be attending on Saturday (the 2nd) but have already pre-purchased the tickets so I won't need to wait in line One question-are the yard sale/vendor prices equal/cheaper/more expensive than Bricklink and eBay? Is it worth bringing money to make "large" purchases? Have you had some great finds the past few times? What? You can register on Wednesday? I checked the website and it seems that you can only visit for two days. I won't be exhibiting, but is there a way to get early access? BTW, I'm jealous that you get to assemble the map. I'd pay to build it ! -
my 1st post here just want to share my works :)
AwesomeBantha replied to TechPriest's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Nice MOC, TechPriest! I like the right angle you've created using SNOT, it gives a very interesting and unusual look to the ship! The armor looks cool, too! Can't wait to see more of your work! -
Whoa, Vitreolum, what an amazing MOC! This is just screaming STEAMPUNK! I especially like the color combination-metalic-silver, gold, brown, tan, dark red, is excellent! There is just so much awesome to this creation that I am literally lost for words. I wish you good luck in the FBTB competition-you get my vote !

We get 6 battle droids. Seriously? 7662 cost $50 more, was bigger, and contained a whopping 20 of them! Anyways, Great review, Phil! It's a shame that LEGO didn't make this a bit better-last year's 75021 Gunship was a huge improvement over 7676, came with excellent minifigures, and cost the same as its predecessor. The MTT is obviously the "Gunship" of the trade federation, and I don't understand why TLG just cheaped out on it. This set had so much potential, and they just disappointed us-the TFOLs and AFOLs. Granted, LEGO is a toy company, and this is for ages 8-14. But something tells me this won't sell well...

Definetly the Rancor. It's the biggest, baddest, and, IMO, the best of the bunch. Plus, it can fit a whole figure in it's mouth!
