  1. Don't forget the reappearance of the Falcons with the Falcon knight in the Kingdom's Joust set. That alone made the Kingdoms era one of the best!
  2. This is my favorite moment from the first movie, and you've captured the feel of it nicely. Great build, and I love how you've done the lighting in the image. Well done!
  3. Into the monkey's mouth! Now we're getting somewhere. ;-) I'm really enjoying these, Captain, I can't wait for part 4. Keep 'em coming!
  4. Very clever! I like your use of wedge plates on the roof ridgeline and the bell tower. And that's the best alternate use of the minifig bases I've seen. Also, your forced perspective picture is great!
  5. I like them! You've done a nice job of capturing the feel of the game character.
  6. Captain Braunsfeld, I like how you have the cape shifted to the side on some to accomodate the scabbard and sword. It creates an illusion of movement. Well done!
  7. Yes, the rapier is from BrickArms. Also, the George Washington torso is a sticker from BrickForge. Except for painting Ben Franklin's hair, everything else is official LEGO in the figs I posted.
  8. Yes, assembling a Cardinal's Guard was one of the first things I had to do when the collectible musketeers came out. I've seen a couple other interpretations of the Guards, and they're all good. Share yours with us!
  9. OK, I'll play. Here are some characters of mine... FIrst we have Colony Director Stuyvesant of the Dutch WIC, a privateer captain, Gen. George Washington, and Captain Fernando of the Spanish army: Next we have a member of the Cardinal's Guards, Lady Eleanor, dueling master Otto, and one-eyed Jack "the Knife": Next are dockside merchant "Shady" Pete, Ben Franklin, Sir Francis Drake, and "Swashbuckling" Sally: And finally we have Sir Stephen (naturalist and member of the Royal Academy of Sciences), Reginald Tumbleholm Esq., ship's quartermaster Otis, and a French hussar: Assembling the ship's crew: Comments and feedback welcome.
  10. Great review! This was one of my favorite ships. I acquired a couple and upgraded them to a brig and a schooner. I love how sleek the ship is, and the sails are great for turning other ships into Imperial ships.
  11. How did this set escape my attention back in the day? A pirate minifig, a cannon, and a shark? I should have been all over this! Great review!
  12. Cat. A: #1 #5 Cat. B: #3 #5 Cat. C: #4 #6
  13. Count me in the Blue Coats camp as well. Maybe because my first Lego ship was the Caribbean Clipper. But I never could get behind the Red Coats.
  14. Technically, there have been three Imperial ships over the years: the two Imperial Flagships (1992 and 2010) and the Caribbean Clipper. (Come to think of it, there have been four if you count the Armada Flagship.) But I agree we need another one, and not necessarily something as big as the recent Imperial Flagship, just something that can compete with the new Brick Bounty or the 2009 Brickbeard's Bounty.
  15. I agree with The_Cook as well. There's a lot we get out of the process. Let's continue!
  16. Can someone do a minifig render using these torsos by Lind Whisperer? Either would be great for a Guard Captain.
  17. If anyone does more minifig renders using the 1600s era torsos, I'd also like to see how they look with the Armada (combed morion) helmet instead of the musketeers hat, as that helmet would also be appropriate for Dutch soldiers of that time period.
  18. I like both of these, especially the one in dark orange. Nice work! The tan arms do look good, and I like the harbor master with the red sash and white ruffled collar. #3 (without the musket belt with powder charges) is my favorite of these four (it's a more versatile torso). I'm getting excited about seeing these in actual legos!
  19. Revisiting the flag discussion briefly... I meant with cannons. Looking at all the flag combinations voted for so far, 13 use background #5, 13 use background #7, and 11 use background #1. The most popular individual flags are #1-1 and #7-1 (5 votes each), followed by #5-1, #1-4, and #7-5 (4 votes each). If you combine the -1, -2, and -3 options into a single category of "background with some sort of crossed cannons," the leading vote-getter so far is background #5 (8 votes that include cannons: 4 for #5-1, 1 for #5-2, and 3 for #5-3), followed by background #7 (7 votes that include cannons: 5 for # 7-1, 1 for #7-2, and 1 for #7-3), and background #1 (6 votes that include cannons: 5 for #1-1, 1 for #1-3). Basically, I was just looking for a way to find meaningful trends in the voting.
  20. I like this one a lot! I was about to suggest losing the red sash to get the color count down, and that does it. The collar has to be white because the period collars were lace. Also, by losing the powder pouches, the torso is more versatile, but the brown belt still suggests a musketeer's uniform.
  21. Oh, I understand the need to vectorize the design. And given the fact that the cannon design we choose may not exist yet, I was just saying that the flags with the most votes so far are combos 1-1 and 7-1 (5 votes each), but if you lump all crossed cannon options together, background #5 actually has more votes (8) than background #1 (6 total with cannons) or #7 (7 total with cannons). That might be a better indicator of what flag design people want.
  22. A slightly simpler variation: As for the flags themselves, have you considered lumping all the crossed cannon votes together when considering which flag design people like best, then dealing with what cannons to use in some other manner?
  23. OK, I pulled out a LEGO non-shooting cannon from one of my old Pirates sets (part 518 on Bricklink; it appeared as an alternate to the shooting cannons in several sets) and came up with this:
  24. While I don't want to cause any problems for Mister Phes since the vote is already underway, I'd be happy to come up with some other crossed cannons designs that looked more like LEGO cannons but still distinctive from the existing designs.
  25. I think the idea was that the anchors emblem (from the Imperial Trading Post set) would be the merchant flag emblem, and the guards flag would use either a related background with different emblem, or possibly the same (anchors) emblem with a different background.
