COVID-19 and will it impact Lego's profits?
Vindicare replied to AMD's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I had similar thoughts. Plans fell through, but I was heading to a few stores with a friend on Saturday. We always check out the BaM & Wall, focusing this time on the new exclusive bits in the BaM towers. I was definitely hesitant about digging around too much in there. Figured I’d just bring a bottle of sanitizer & squeeze out a big ol’ glob of it after I was done. -
I like the use of Dr. Who & Stitch(?) to match those two bunny headwear from Batman.

Well, this is different. I love this just as much, as everything is here, as usual. The details are great, love the tiling on the pavement & the great use of the masonry bricks.

Marvel Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Vindicare replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I second all of these, and more. I would like to see characters from past movies that weren’t made. Like Malekith & the Warrior’s Three, & Lady Sif, all sorely missing. The Collector would be a good one as well. -
I’m firmly in the set builder camp. I keep my sets in bags/containers. I’ve built a few minor things for my town, but not exactly sure I’d consider myself a MOC’er. I do have a little interest in it I suppose, but being a set collector, I don’t have readily available parts like some do.

Yeah, there’s still plenty to go. Interesting suggestion about the video being the $10 sets. I’m not too sure though. We are getting four of them, with a low number of pieces. That entire build looks a lot more substantial than 50+/-. It could be definitely be a mix though, like a bigger base model then the smaller sets are add ons. That could be cool.

I dig it. Not what was I expecting, that’s for sure. It’s a buildable, playable Mario game, that’s great! Now that weirdly sized & shaped Mario makes a lot more sense. I still hope we see some of these sets with actual minifigs though.

I’m cautiously optimistic here. I’m ecstatic to be seeing Mario & definitely hope it leads to more from Nintendo. I’d love to see Mario Kart. I’d also like to see an 8-bit Mario set like I’ve seen people build on their own. I know this probably wouldn’t be popular, as a lot of folks here don’t care too much about them, but I’d love to see all the costumes Mario has from the third game. And a buildable Yoshi like the Porg would be amazing.

I don’t have any insider info but it could be that the Christmas tree was simply a better seller than they anticipated. It could also have had a lot to do with being available on Black Friday. There were some killer deals that day that I’m sure lead to multiple purchases, whether intentional to get more of the GWP or unintentional due to second guessing & buying.

I’m right there with you. I’ve only closed off the back of the City bank(yellow one) from a few years back & the more recent LEGO store that came in the big Square set. Unlike most, I’m a set collector, so I can’t just readily pick through parts to build stuff. I don’t think they need a redo. Minor tweaks. They have some nice variety in City, but they just need more of it. And smaller, individual buildings. Take the Donut Shop Opening for example. If it were me, I’d take out the crane truck, the police interaction part, & the toy shop. Then dedicate those parts to making a better donut shop. I absolutely love the cart & TV van.

Nice job. It’s a cool build, seeing the mansion atop the Hall & all the little features you put in.

I was going to bring up the diversity of City, but you listed all I planned to. Now, one could make the case of bundling the Police as one, because even though the setting is different, the story is the same. I would tend to both agree & disagree. At the time Mountain Police came out I was tired of Police sets, but these were a great change of pace to me. I loved the new hats they introduced & reminded me of a different branch of LEO’s here in California. The bundle aspect also applies to explorers, as it’s still a team of researchers doing stuff, just in different climates. But, I think they largely hadn’t their own identity, unlike Police. I would love to see a more well rounded City theme, but that’s coming from an adult who has a tabletown. So I’m slightly bias...and can’t MOC worth a damn.

It would be a pretty easy pass for me as well. While I do love the Hogwarts Castle, I wouldn’t be upset by missing it.

This is beyond fantastic. You captured every detail perfectly, even the nets outside. Although, Mr. Krabs’ proby isn’t too happy with that small pile of money on his desk.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
Vindicare replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I’m pretty excited for series 20...just not sure how many I’ll get as the $5 is a big turn off. I hope they keep making these fantastic exclusive prints for the BaM towers, I’m loving them. -
[Collab] Post Apocalyptic Jungle Landscape
Vindicare replied to Hersbrucker's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hidden Side is a great theme to steal from. I took the Bus, removed the radar & laser off the top & the guns off the front. Then I took some cues from Apocalypseburg & threw them on top. Added a perch on the back with a spear & bar railing like the set has. And that 8 long railing as well. Then some chains hanging off the side & a net on back(there’s a couple pics of it in my Flickr). The new buggy could be a fun one as well. -
Another perfect creation. I adore that guy trying to hide behind his briefcase, that dog better not be an ankle biter... Again, you have such a gift of giving each of your figures such life & personality.

[Collab] Post Apocalyptic Jungle Landscape
Vindicare replied to Hersbrucker's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is fantastic! I love everything. It’s cool seeing Apocalypseburg incorporated into something like this. And seeing the Shrimp Shack, as I intend to put it with Apocalypseburg too. I like the wooden boundary whoever built it added there, it looks like it was a part of the set to begin with. I also love all the plant life, even using the throwaway bit of that big three leaf piece. It’s just enough for the setting you’re portraying. -
It’s 60182. Great set & a fantastic truck build.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion

Haha, thanks for the warning. My friend & I are always there before the doors open, just have to get there a bit earlier then. -
Ah ha, yeah...I see it now. Guess zooming in originally would’ve answered that question.

Couldn’t agree more. That’s why I’m hoping the turtle shows up in the BaM towers eventually. -
LEGO Masters (US) on FOX - Season 1
Vindicare replied to henrysunset's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Overall, I’m enjoying the show. I understand with the amount of teams it’s hard to focus on the builds in an hour time slot. My hope is that when they get down to four teams(and less) they focus more on the builds themselves. I didn’t care at all for the smashing challenge. That’s not okay to me. Now for the other part...I get its a reality show, and they need drama...but man, I’m not a fan. Wasting time with that that could’ve gone into showing the building process. The arguing, the crying, the planned phone call...just no. The disagreements are fine, because that’s part of the building process.
