  1. I only buy sets that interest me. I don't just buy every set a theme I like has to offer. I'm not a completeist(thank God!). I can't really say what I'd do if I built my own stuff, I'd sort it out like most do. You can still build the set, it would just take a little extra searching.
  2. You live and you learn. At least there's lots of snow around.
  3. Nice start to the series. It looks as those that's just the very top of a buried ruins. I can imagine teem moving or taking that precarious step that makes the ground start to shake and give way.
  4. Yes. Doesn't look half bad. I like your little set up.
  5. I could be wrong, but I don't think any skirt pieces have back printing?
  6. You are the man when it comes to mini alternate builds!
  7. Ya know, I plan on storing mine by set in those stackable drawers. I'm no MOCer so, sorting isn't really a priority. But, it really is impressive seeing some of these sorting pictures. I've been going back and forth with myself on how I want to store my collection. To answer your question, if you like to build your own stuff then I'd say sort it with like pieces. If you're more the set collector, then it's better to store them as sets. Either way, you have a lot of great examples to work off here.
  8. Wow, how'd you do it? I could never get off that easy. That's about how much I spend in a month.
  9. I think you did a great job. The Inn is good with some nice interior details and the shape of the building has a nice snow lodge feeling to me. The little ski rack on the side is nice. I wouldn't, however, put a burning torch on the wall of awhat looks to be a wooden building. a trans yellow cylinder would be better. The sleigh is nice and one of the better built ones in the contest. The cast of characters is a nice selection too. You should be proud, not nervous!
  10. How about a building using the 'brick' brick with white columns on the front...it would be a nice old world feel like the others have.
  11. I did think of MMV when I saw that little shack. I guess I had a brain fart or something cause I didn't think to put the two together...
  12. I love the bridge over the moat on the yellow castle. The castle itself is really cool, too. I'd like them to release that has a set...Dragon Castle anyone?
  13. I'm ok with LotR coming about, there will be a lot of great figs to be had. Helms Deep looks like it's going to be a good set. As of the pics we have so far, I'm not happy they stopped Kingdoms in favor of LotR(do we even KNOW that they did?) But, fantasy nuts now have another Orc horde to add to the factions, as I'm sure these will differ quite greatly compared to the earlier ones.
  14. I've said this many times in this thread already, whenever someones choices are this and something else, I am adamant in telling them to get this. I'm not into pirates or ships all that much, didn't own any at the time I bought this ship. Its just so impressive a model and a great display piece. When I had it displayed people could not believe it was LEGO til they got a closer look. I absolutely love this set and is probably my favorite set, even above the Modulars. Basically, if I could marry it, I would. Ok...,maybe not. But, you get the point. I'm pretty sure it got discontinued recently, so buy it now while it's relatively cheap.
  15. I don't know exactly, but I'm sure it's way more than I think. I bought all Alien Conquest and Pharaohs Quest. All but the Ewok Attack SW summer releases. Lots of City, Kingdoms, all of the final wave of Atlantis. A lot more to add. I don't think it's unusual to spend a lot when you get back into LEGO. I remember buying Market Street/Cafe Corner together, then hitting eBay and buying 3 Forestmen sets and all the old Ninja set when I came out of my dark ages. I don't think it's too uncommon to spend a lot on your first outing. Edit: According to Brickset, the value of my collection is $10,951. And that doesn't really reflect how much I've spent. I don't have any of my street baseplates, I have a lot of those, CMFs, also a lot or what I bought the Forestmen/Ninja sets for...
  16. Also, Bricklink. It's not a retailer either...I think.
  17. Also, the advertised one is computer rendered. But the color difference alone is crap.
  18. It's like the Bermuda Triangle of Legoland...
  19. I'm gonna agree on the out of scale thing, but opposite of what you said. I think the trailer is a bit on the small side compared to the truck. It's a great truck/camper, though. I like the details you put in the camper. The tv antenna is a nice addition which official sets lack. Neat looking truck too, but could use some color.
  20. With that many pieces, it better be epic. That's about 400 more pieces than the highest piece count Modular. I can't say I'm too happy about the price hike, but I'll be buying regardless.
  21. I don't think people really "hate" LEGO themes. There's aspects that people like and don't like. Most people who will be buying these want the pieces and not the figs. Personally, I won't be buying these sets but I don't hate them. I don't mind them, but they're just not for me. I'm not going to come here and say how stupid they are and bash them(like that troll did in the Ninjago thread). Because what would be the point?
  22. I would. I have all but the plane set(what's the deal there? Is it a Target exclusive?) and I really like them. The dinos are great and fun to play with. the figs are awesome and you get multiples of the best one, the olive green clad hunter.
  23. Yeah, this disease spreads fast. It's almost impossible to suppress it. I started with Castle and Modulars/Town. Then I started into SW and it all snowballed. That is a nice collection of castles you've got there.
  24. Indeed. After seeing MVR I was pretty excited about what was to come. I was also hoping to see another MMV set... Maybe we will someday...
