David got back to me about the confusion surrounding the name. It is indeed 'Elves', so there wasn't a translation error. Nevertheless, given the set numbers and the names, I still think this is a theme aimed at girls. I wouldn't expect any wings though, because I think that would hit a little too close to Disney's 'Fairies' license and I can't imagine Lego doing anything to upset their relationship with Disney which is a gold mine (Star Wars, anyone?). So not exactly Fairies, but no immortal, bow slinging high fantasy creatures either.
-
I don't really 'miss' it, because I was in my dark ages when it was an active theme. However, I very much regret not being a FOL during that time, because I really like Harry Potter but the sets are so expensive now that I won't be starting to collect them.
-
I'm afraid these will all be instant-buys for me. As will the 'Elves' sets. I just hope they don't come out in the same month!
-
While there are enough characters in Springfield, I am pretty sure we will get new versions of the Simpson family. With 552 episodes, there are certainly enough outfits for the main characters to make a few interesting alternatives.

BTW, were did the name 'Elves' for this line come from? David mentioned However, not one of the sets has the name 'elves' in it. Some of the translations from earlier today had, but those were from the German name 'Elfenversteck' which could just as well translate to 'Fairies Hideout'. Maybe someone with more info could chime in here?

Brickfan's source is this thread... so they know the same things we do and their 'announcement' doesn't add any more weight to that. My bet would be that we should expect something like Disney Fairies. Not pink, but definitely nothing like fantasy elves. Edit: LotR seems done for. I studied the list most of today leaks came from (the Swiss toy site) inside out, and while I found the four Hobbit sets we already knew about, there was no new LotR. No new generic castle either.
-
Not true, David's list has the original English names, whereas the other names are translated from German and thus often wrong, due to different naming in the different countries. And David's list has prices on it, although the translation process from NZD to USD or whatever is getting a little tedious...
-
I don't think so. The information is from a Swiss b2b site, meaning a company where smaller toy shops order their merchandise. It is however possible that the Brainiac set will have a later release in the UK than in mainland Europe and is thus not part of the retail catalog you get your information from.

Between this, the new Disney Princess sets and most of all the new Elves line, I will be completely broke sometime around May next year...
-
You might be right about this. Merryweather appearing in a set under the Disney Princess license is pretty contradictory to my theory... And to be honest, I don't really care anymore because we will be getting new sets, no matter what I feared! Couldn't be happier about this! So let's head to the new 2015 rumors thread and drool a little about getting Jasmine, Elsa and Aurora!
-
Again: the question is not how DIFFICULT it would be to create dwarves, but if Lego is ALLOWED to create (and sell) them. They hold the Disney Princess license, not the Snow White license. I don't think the Seven Dwarves are part of the Princess license, so Lego can't make a set with them. Then again, I have not (and never will) seen the contract between Disney and TLG, nor do I really know what is and what isn't part of which license.

There is: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85699&st=500#entry1983624 I don't know about that. However, I don't think that the new Elves theme fits into the Historic Themes forum either. Maybe a Mod should try to figure out where to hold this discussion. If it stays here, I am afraid that many users who are interested in Friends (and Disney Princess for that matter) won't find this thread, which is certainly of great interest to them.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
TomKraut replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
There are only six new sets, not nine. The other three unnamed sets are GOTG. Too bad that there are no set names for the six new ones... -
In a couple of other discussions, member ghostmind posted this link: http://shop.swisstoy...5_255&&page=all It's a Swiss b2b site, and it seems to have all the 2015 (1H) sets listed. There are no prices, and the names are in German (I translated them), but here you go: 76027 Black Manta's Attack in... (rest of the name is missing) 76040 Brainiac's Attack 76028 Darkseid's Ambush 76026 Gorilla Grodd's Rampage 76025 Green Lantern vs. Sinestro I think most (if not all) of this has already leaked in one form or another, but this source seems to be very genuine, so I thought I would share it. Cheers TomKraut

Okay, let's consolidate this a little. We had the list posted by Mesonak, taken from this source: http://shop.swisstoy.ch/index.php?cPath=75_255&&page=all We also had the list from David Thompsen, which he acquired from a NZ retailer. Mesonak's names were Google translated, because the source is in German. The German set names often are rather different and not just translations (there is a topic here, which names are the 'true' names? I would go with Danish... ). David's names should be the real English names, although there might be a spelling error (Aira vs. Aria). Both lists had five items, but in total, there are six! So we have (prices are in USD, not a conversion but a speculation based on current set prices in USA vs. NZ): 41071 Arias Creative Workshop - $9.99 41072 Naidas Spa Secret - $19.99 41073 Naida's Adventure Ship (missing from David list, so unconfirmed name and no price) 41074 Azari & The Magic Bakery - $29.99 41075 Treetop Hideaway - $59.99 41076 Farran & The Crystal Hollow - $14.99 As the sets have 41xxx numbers (the numbering scheme for Friends and Disney Princess), I am certain they will be featuring minidolls and be aimed at girls! The set names are also in line with the 'girl' themes.
-
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the '41' in the set numbers can only mean that we will be getting minidolls in these sets, as both Friends and Disney Princess share the leading 41. Personally, I couldn't be more excited about this as I LOVE the minidolls, but most of you guys seem to have different tastes Cheers TomKraut

Wow! Thanks ghostmind, that is an amazing find! You should post that link in the General Forum, I don't think most users are very interested in this thread and this source has information on everything!

As has been stated a couple of times in this thread already, the problem is not that most of the supporting characters would need new molds and are thus expensive to produce (although that's true), but that the Disney Princess license doesn't include them! Lego is not allowed to make the seven dwarfs. I'm sure they aren't even allowed to make the Tea Cups from Beauty and the Beast. That's the main reason why there is no Sebastian in the Arielle sets. I might be wrong about this, as there is a Pascal in Rapunzel's Tower and Merida's Brothers are in her set, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lego had to negotiate separate deals for these figures. The villains however are for sure part of the respective movie licenses, which I'm sure are too expensive just to create one or two sets. Frozen is a different story though, because it's an extremely popular, recent movie, but there would have to be a whole wave of just Frozen sets for it to be lucrative for Lego. Source? I would love for this to be true... AND: I just checked the Ice Palace Lego Ideas page again: Official Lego comment added on Aug 26th: Which might translate to: "Sorry, but there is already an official set in the pipeline, so we will cancel this Ideas project when we go public with it." Fingers crossed!

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
TomKraut replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Not saying we should automatically trust him, but his story is absolutely plausible: He saw the sets listed in his employer's (a NZ retailer) warehouse system, posted the info he had (or passed it on, possible via PM) and then went to bed (it's 5:45am there now). Oh, unless by 'figures' you mean 'minifigures', not 'prices'. Then yes, that guy doesn't sound legit... Cheers TomKraut -
I was pretty sure we won't get any more Disney Princess sets, but then I checked the Disney Online Store to figure out what else is part of the Princess license. We had sets with Arielle, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Merida. I would love a Snow White set, but as the license doesn't include the dwarves, that would be pretty pointless. The same goes for Jasmin without Aladdin and the Genie. Elsa and Anna aren't official Disney Princesses yet, so that leaves Belle, Aurora, Tiana, Pocahontas and Mulan. As the Beast seems to be part of the license, a Belle set could be done (perhaps the ballroom scene). For Aurora we could get another castle and I'm sure the other three could be placed in small sets with some accessories. However, I still don't think there won't be any more sets. The license seriously lacks the supporting characters, especially the various animal companions and adversaries. This diminishes the play value of the sets, making it a bad fit for Lego. On the plus side, if the line doesn't sell well, I might be able to pick up some Cinderella Castles next year at a serious discount to build the perfect Fairy Tale Castle MOC I really wish Lego would pick up the Frozen license and create a whole wave of Frozen sets, with all the characters. If you haven't done so yet, I would suggest supporting "Elsa's Ice Palace" over at Lego Ideas. Even if it doesn't pass the review process, it will show Lego that there are people interested in the subject. Cheers TomKraut

I was browsing a local toy store yesterday, looking if they had anything on clearance. They had a couple of sets marked down, but nothing special. I then stumbled across a Marvel SH 6866 for €26.99 (original retail price). I quickly checked Amazon and Ebay and found that they were going for €70 minimum, so I grabbed the empty box (this store often only has empty boxes out for display) and went to the cashier. She went in the back and I was expecting her to grab the parts, but she came back with another, sealed box! So I asked "Wait, if this one is sealed, that means I can get both, right?" She said yes, went back and... came out with another sealed box! In the end I walked out of the store with three 6866, two of them MISB! I'm now wondering if I should sell the two MISBs, making probably at least 50-60€ in the process, or just sell two of the Deadpool Minifigs and get 2 Wolverines, 2 Magnetos and some nice parts practically for free... Cheers TomKraut

What's number one on your list to get 1st August?

I also had trouble with lego.com when I tried to order this morning, so I decided to go to the Lego Store before work. Got myself 2 Exo-Suits and a Research Institute. Glad I did, when I checked lego.com again at work, the Exo-Suit already had the Sept. 4th shipping date. Cheers TomKraut -
Interesting! I went to the Store in Hamburg, Germany yesterday, and they had those same pieces, except for the horses. I overheard a clerk talk to another customer and it seems that they had horses but they were already gone. They also had trans-clear cheese pieces of which I got a ton. So it seems that they are coordinating the new items for the wall world-wide! If that is true, I expect them to be able to have a faster rotation if they spread the orders over that many stores. Cheers TomKraut

I went to the Lego Store in Hamburg, Germany today to fill my first PAB cup (I chose the large size). I might have gone a little overboard with the trans-clear 1x2x2, but I need some of them in my current project and I thought it can't hurt to have a lot of them Cheers TomKraut

I love it! I don't get why there aren't more Friends MOCs and layouts, they have such great potential. Regarding the presentation, I would have preferred photos and text. High-Res photos give the opportunity to discover the details for oneself, and isn't that the point when looking at a layout like this? Cheers TomKraut
