It's back in Germany as well... maybe. I spend two hours picking out parts, then wanted to go to checkout, was redirected to the online store... everything gone. Well, s@h and Chrome never quite work. So I went to my computer, fired up Windows, spend another hour in Edge, went to checkout... everything gone. Will try again tomorrow with a smaller order as a test. The language I would normally use to describe this experience is not appropriate for this forum...

I think everyone I have more than a passing relationship with knows: family, friends, close co-workers, neighbors who accept packages for me... However, only close friends know that I (35yo guy) am mostly into Friends, Elves and Disney Princess

The magazine will be out in Germany an February 11th. I picked up the odd Chima magazine by the same publisher (Blue Ocean) in the past if it came with a minifigure. The content is of course aimed at children, much more so than the TV show or webisodes for example, with very simple storylines in the comics and easy riddles etc. The first issue will have a minifigure and it is.... Lance! I'm still on the fence about this one. I like the idea of a complete Nexo Knights collection, but then again the magazine itself is nothing I want and what would I do with the umptenth Lance figure?

I have to say, the mods are doing an exceptional job clearing the spam. I usually browse the forum early in the morning before work and most of the time there are a few spam posts. I just hit report, type in "spam" and a few minutes later they are gone. What I find odd though is that these posts usually have a number of views on them already. The fact that they always disappear shortly after I reported them makes me wonder why apparently no one has reported them before...

Disney Princess 2016 Rumors and Discussion
TomKraut replied to Amazing Bricks's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't see a Snow White set happening before we get minidoll children which could then be used as dwarves. While there are a lot of characters missing from the DP sets, Snow White without dwarves just doesn't make any sense. Come on Lego, make it happen! I need children for my Friends City (and Police minidolls. And Firefighters. Anything but casual summer clothing!). Maximus is another huge letdown, but the set itself seems okay. Yes, it's a smaller version of the tower, but I can use the parts and it is a new minidoll design. -

Disney Princess 2016 Rumors and Discussion

This line has hit rock bottom Even the Castle Pets from the current wave had at least the interesting arches and the low price point going for them, but there is no way I'm going to buy an expensive castle that is this ugly. Belle is lovely though, and even if Beast does look way out of proportion it's not as horrible as I had feared, so I will pick them up from Bricklink or eBay. The furniture however I don't like at all, especially the giant Luminiere. Those Unikitty tails might come in handy though. -
I don't, because there is no such thing as legos. However, when I buy Lego, I usually go for sets, and I usually don't pay RRP but at least 10-20% off. If I pay more than 10c per piece (Euro Cents, that is) there has to be another good reason for me to buy the set, like minifigs I really want. I haven't used Bricklink yet, because I loathe the idea of having to deal with multiple stores who don't accept PayPal (or charge you for it). I usually want a shopping experience of "find it, click-to-add, click-to-pay, wait for delivery", which is why I sometimes buy single pieces from eBay even though I could get them a few cents cheaper from Bricklink. I also used to buy unsorted lots from eBay or flee markets, but haven't done so for some time because I rather spend my money on specific parts / sets than to gamble that I might get something I can actually use. As for building sets from pieces: I would say it's virtually impossible without sourcing at least some parts (which can be costly) or having a really huge collection. I am somewhere close to 100k pieces (estimated, 63k is from sets I bought since coming out from my dark ages, the rest from unsorted lots and PaB), and when I want to build something, I usually have to either buy it directly or order the parts I'm missing. About staying in a tight budget, I'm afraid I can't help you at all. I spend way too much on Lego as it is and still, if I had more money, I would spend even more... Cheers TomKraut

I'm somewhat intrigued by that rollercoaster. Would it be possible to create a more exciting ride with just the pieces in this set? Here is what I have in mind: - Use that firehouse pole to create a sort of lift for the cars. - Use the Technic pieces from the ferris wheel to mount the tracks at a steeper incline going only downward from that lift. - Alternate between curves and downward slopes to make for a bumpy ride down. Not really sure if everything needed for this is in that set, but it should be possible with not too many additional pieces.

Belle's Castle sounds pretty awesome, if not for the building itself but for the included characters. I hope they where able to do Beast justice with the head mould. If it's really just an interchangeable head on a standard minidoll body that would look weird. I'm even more excited about the surprise Rapunzel set though! But only if Maximus is a new mould, the standard horse doesn't look anything like him. -
Have you ever felt judged for liking LEGO?
TomKraut replied to Chilly_Productions's topic in Community
There are those in my life who judge me for buying too much stuff without having the space for it... but that has nothing to do with the fact that I'm buying Lego. As far as feeling weird or judged goes, I couldn't care less. I'm 35 years old, I make good money so I get to buy and play with whatever I want. And most of the time I want to play with little pink buildings and the tiny dolls that live in them. Cheers TomKraut- 107 replies

TLG knows how many users LDD has. How? Because they can track how many times the part updates have been downloaded. Of course that number isn't accurate, but it is enough for them to base their decision on. So a petition isn't going to change anything. We also don't know how extensive the work required for LDD was. Maybe the last team member that worked on the program quit and it would be too expensive to train someone to continue supporting it, which brought about this "business decision". Hopefully they will dedicate some of the resources freed up from LDD to supporting free alternatives like LDraw, for example through part updates.

Probably the Batcave. Plus the Fortrex and / or the Evil Mobile, but only if I can get them at least 20% off (unlikely). Most of my shopping will be done by then though, because Metro Cash & Carry has all Lego for 20% off for a week starting on Thursday. Unfortunately they don't seem to sell the large Nexo Knights sets.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were small differences in the figures prints. Maybe like in the app where the armor gets a little darker with each upgrade. To a child, it wouldn't make much difference so parents can spread out the acquisition of the team over the whole year but for collectors it would be a strong incentive to buy more sets.

Lego Nexo Knights TV Series Discussion

So far, I'm a little underwhelmed by the TV episodes. The first two where ok, but after that the storylines are just too bland. Episode 5 did have a little twist with the knights not having to battle the monsters directly but their own fears, however it was ruined by the major plot hole of Whipperella being immediately able to zero in on everyone's worst fear but Aaron's. I still have high hopes for this show, after all we are still in the "get-to-know-the-characters-phase", but imo the webisodes were more enjoyable than these first TV episodes. Cheers TomKraut -

I find it hard not to disagree more... Piece count, desirability of minifigures, comparison to other sets, the fact that the same amount of money can buy multiple sets which then as a whole may be worth more to someone are all very valid discussion points. As are the differences in price in the various markets, especially in what shouldn't even be different markets in the first place (EU countries who have the Euro as currency) or predictions if it would be a valid option to just Bricklink the parts one is interested in. And as a somewhat irrelevant fact from a rational standpoint, I find it very hard to agree with someone who belittles the opinions of his fellow Lego fans and then puts an 's' after the word Lego... Cheers TomKraut -
To me, Lego sidewalks will always be light grey because I grew up with the 80's road plates (technically, that would be old light grey, but light bley is close enough). Lego colour terminology can be really confusing, especially when you are new to the subject. I recently had to recolour almost every grey part in a MOC after exporting the LDD file to Rebrickable because I confused light blueish grey (medium stone grey) and very light blueish grey (light stone grey).

€250 ... damn, that's a lot of money, but not as much as say the Helicarrier or the Firehouse so I'm afraid I will get this I grew up watching reruns of the show, in fact it was my first contact with Batman or super heroes in general. Being about 7 or 8 years old at the time, I never noticed the silliness of this Batman version, and today I very much appreciate it for being trashy and light entertainment (in small doses)... I think the minifigure selection is superb, all the main characters are there except Commissioner Gordon who should be be easily created from existing parts. The only thing I don't like are the exposed studs on the vertical plates, but this should be fixable with tiles and wedges. There goes my Lego money for 1Q2016... Cheers TomKraut -
Lego Nexo Knights TV Series Discussion

I feel the same, the answer doesn't matter. However, the whole situation is hilarious and I would very much like to know how it came about. Didn't you post a list a few days back which had the new episodes starting on Wednesday? I think they aired Ninjago the same way, one episode a day. I'm all for that, much better for binge-watching! -
They also don't have any of the new parts necessary to make a Squirebot. I was planning to create a lot of custom Squirebots for civilian scenes, but as I'm sure these will be rather expensive on Bricklink for the foreseeable future, I might have to hold of on that.

I like that. 1. it ends the discussion and 2. it gives us our first transgender Lego character.

I'm really glad that TLG are better at designing toys than they are at internal communication!

The overlap of 1 should be enough as long as you don't pick the whole thing up. You could also use some 2x4 tiles, especially where you have four baseplates joining each other. What I meant was, you should recreate the outer shape of the buildings on the baseplates with 1-wide plates. This makes it easier to see where the interior floors will be and it raises the ground on which the walls will stand by the same amount as the tiles for the sidewalk. You could also use tiles and 1x1 plates in certain places to make the buildings easier to remove. Oh, and as for the trees, there is a pinned thread in the Historic forum with some amazing guides. This is however really advanced stuff that I haven't dared to try myself yet...
