  1. Hi, Here is my CAT B entry.
  2. Hi, Here is my entry for Category B in the Landspeeder Competition (build a workshop with three speeders in it). The Treadwell Droid is some variation on the official build, so I can't take (all) the credit for how pretty he looks. But he wanted to get in the picture.
  3. That set has some cool pieces. I found bits of it (not mine!) in my parents house...
  4. I don't know, I continue to find the offerings from Lego Ideas very...bland. I got a couple of the earlier ones. The Exo Suit was brilliant, but not much interests me since then. There are more creative models posted on Eurobricks every week. Is the process so tortuous that only megalomaniacs persevere with trying to get sets chosen for production?
  5. Firstly, I love your Tauntaun and Wampa, and have reverse engineered them a few times for fun. Secondly, I could never bring myself to like MOTU. I was a Battle of The Planets fan instead! I know how strong the nostalgia for these shows from our youth can be. Your Brickheadz here are very nicely done.
  6. I like Calendar Man's cell. It reminds me of the scene from The Long Halloween.
  7. Hi, Here is my CAT A entry. Hope I've done eveything ok!
  8. Hi, Here is my entry for Landspeeder Category A in the competition. This is the Imperial 'Viper' which would have been used by the Empire in an urban setting. It could carry two troopers, or, as I've shown here, one driving trooper and a passenger (which in this case is a mysterious emissary friend of Janus Greejatus'). The part I'm most pleased with is the little binoculars piece which helps to clip the two halves shut. It makes it safe and swooshable when the speeder swings shut. I should point out that this (entirely made up) ship doesn't look like a classic Landspeeder. But according to the literature, this is a landspeeder; And so is this; So hopefully I'm on safe ground. Plus the competition organiser said it was ok to have an enclosed Landspeeder! Thanks for looking.
  9. It's not the question you asked, but it will be interesting to see if they keep making these films, and if so what direction they take as the law of diminishing returns sets in. Lego Movie 1 was watchable, but not utterly amazing if you'd already seen quirky Lego animation, like the Padawan Menace. I personally found the Lego Batman Movie irritating, although I know some people liked it. Ninjago Movie was dreadful (although Ninjago City is glorious). Lego Movie 2 I didn't even bother with...I let the family go without me.
  10. I'd like to try one of these contests some time, but I'm nervous that the standard will be very high! Does it have to be a speeder from some source material or can you invent one? Does it have to be strictly similar to Luke's type of landspeeder, or could it be enclosed like the Ubrikkian one, for example?
  11. Incredible. I love the bony hands on the emperor. Reminds me of my late grandmother's. I don't even know what colour bricks the emperor is made from. It's like some communist statue as you would find in Memento Park in Budapest...
  12. Well, I'm glad to see he has a life jacket and a map. That's one well-prepared walrus.
  13. I don't agree with this! Every play set that needs walls has walls. As well as the sets listed above, I will add 76088 (Ragnarok) and more. Having a back wall doesn't stop you playing with a set. And if the wall really gets in the way, you take the figures out and play on the table, then pop them back in when you're finished. I strongly feel had this set needs red walls and is missing them due to some combination of design mistake, wasting bricks on those grey pylons, or Disney/TLG driven increases in price per piece. The more I look at sets like this I regret on missing out on things like Palpatine's arrest! It seems like you get less and less in these regular sized play sets now, and they are trying to push adults into buying huge sets in the €200+ range.
  14. Nice review. I like these traditional photo and text ones. My opinion remains as follows. I like the sequels as films becuase I find them interesting as character driven sci-fi fantasy. I also enjoyed the humour, Poe and Hux scene and all. However, I do not think they make for interesting Lego sets as they do not contain much of interest in terms of design. What could have made this set work was...the red walls. And I really just think it's meanness on TLG's part that they didn't include them. Palpatine's arrest has walls/windows Jabba's Palace has walls. The Return of The Jedi Final Duel has walls. This set doesn't work without red walls and I shouldn't have to cut my own out of paper!
  15. Sorry, this is too good. Brain explodes. I like the patterning on the cantilevered floor the best.
  16. So, I came over here to take a look because of 'that other thread' about lack of comments . And...I really like this. It reminds me of classic Sci-Fi shows like Blake's 7 where they didn't have the budget for elaborate special effects, but the ships always had innovative, quirky designs. I like the impression that, even though the manufacturers have given it a lick of paint, it has an industrial feel with the various pods, batteries, spikes, panels and so on. Cool work.
  17. There is still a lack of alien minifigures. Some that have never been made, some not for a long tume. I suppose it must not be in TLG's interests to make these when they can make more profit from large grey ships and walkers but it would be nice... Snaggletooth, Walrus Man, Klaatu, Barada, Nikto (these probably all have some other ret-conned) names). Kit-Fisto, Saesee-Tiin etc haven't been seen for ages...
  18. So is the pilot a 'separatist'? Nice use of parts.
  19. It's a great model. The colours and the photography really pop. Tyrrell Ford 012, Stefan Bellof, Monaco 1984?
  20. Good post. Sorry about your struggles! I would be interested to read opinions of why so few comments are posted in general. Is it considered passé now? Was posting comments on MOCs a very 2009 thing? A Premier League match report in the Guardian can get 1000s of comments despite it basically being the same topic over and over again... I think Eurobricks should put up a banner headline encouraging people to post (friendly) comments! I personally have zero interest in digital Lego designs, sorry. For me it is strictly a tinkering-with real bricks exercise. I don't like any hobby that involves using a computer. It's too much like my job. (I'm doing this on a smart phone!). I would rather see a quirky build using 20 real bricks and a minifigure than see an LDD. But don't let that stop you enjoying your branch of the Lego world.
  21. Brilliant. Nice to see an Irish theme sneaking in here. I'm not normally a fan of brickheadz but this is such an endearing little scene. Brilliant.
  22. 1. Some of these are no cheaper than the current brand new shop prices. Take a look on Brickset. Some of them look a bit cheaper. Some of them look more expensive! Why would Wu be €15? So it looks like average value. 2. It depends if you really want to collect Brickheadz for some reason. Personally I think they are only useful for the parts! (Although the parts are very useful for MOCS- Nice tiles and snot pieces...)
  23. Instantly recognisable. A few bricks. Cool. It will be interesting to see what they do with the story in ROS. I enjoyed the first two films, but the plot is kind of stuck at the moment.
  24. The Easter Bunny bought me Anakin's Podracer to give to me on Sunday.
  25. I really like the idea of Alternative Builds. It's a nice, finite challenge. I think I must try one soon. Your ski resort is cool (pardon the pun). In the same way that having some impressive engines is 75% of building a good spaceship, having a swish roof is 75% of a successful house!
