I don't really get the attraction of Jurassic Park as a theme but I suppose there must be a lot of potential buyers if they're releasing sets like this. Maybe if you saw it for the first time as a child it would leave an impression on you, the same as Star Wars etc? But dinosaurs...and a theme park...just not interesting to me. Also, what would you do with this thing? It's too big to integrate with minifigures. And it will just attract dust as a display piece.

Thanks! I could argue that it's some kind of forced perspective / optical illusion...but really I just found that if I left a big enough gap between the trees for two speeders to fit, the scene just looked too empty...or I'd have to use a bigger baseplate and a gazillion more bricks. But also, look at the Speeder Bikes on Endor. You'd have to have superhuman reflexes to fly through a forest that dense at that speed. So apparently it's a well known Star Wars skill!

[Landspeeder][Cat. C] Pursuit outside the Salacious Crumb
Retro replied to goatman461's topic in Watto's Junkyard
That's funny because I physically have Salacious Crumb lurking in the corner of my CAT C! I presume here it is a bar/cantina/hive of scum and villainy... -
Lovely model. How stable are the brick-built wings? When I tried wings like that on my B-Wing I decided they were too floppy without technic parts to strengthen them. Do the wing struts help?

[TC16] Helix
Retro replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, a visitor here from the Star Wars forum (I only use one or two Technic pieces to hold a ship together - when I have to!). I love classic Sci-Fi spaceships and I can't wait to see your finished model. It looks like a great start. -
[Landspeeder][Cat A] - Patrol at the Starkiller base
Retro replied to dvogon's topic in Watto's Junkyard
I like the fact that if you travel in the back seat you get a head rest. Luxury. Also like the bluish purple lighting in the photos. Good luck! -
Love all the details packed into this. The helicopter platform is my favourite bit. The only thing I'm not completely sold on is the red thingy in the middle which looks a bit like a church to me (not that that would be a bad thing if it were!). But great overall.

I voted for this 80% because of the name. Great pun. -

Gorgeous, especially the lavender stalks (are they from Elves?). The scene as a whole reminds me of Mondrian's windmill paintings, particularly 'The Windmill in Sunlight' from 1908.

I thought the original Despicable Me was a really good film within its genre. Sweet, funny and quirky, and the Minions were a part of that. They've really overdone them since then though. The Minion Movie was atrocious. Hard to see what the market for this would be.

What...there are prizes? (Joking) Yes, I know...I thought there would have been heaps of entries by now, looking at the volume of communication on the Ninjago and Technic competitions. But maybe the quiet Star Wars fans are just leaving it till the last minute...

I've added some walls and a red mech. If I keep tinkering until the new deadline I will end up building the whole of Coruscant (!), but since I have already had to start 'borrowing' my son's bricks I might get in trouble if I don't stop soon! Also, trying to take clear pictures of a large, fragile model in a dark, rainy country is starting to wear me down...

I was about to complain about the extended deadline but then I thought about Matthew Chapter 20 and decided to be more gracious.

Well, it's pure Davros, isn't it? It's a fun design. And I like the lack of transparent pices/technic frame connecting the pod to the engines. It looks good just sitting there with the black strings.

As an aside, why are things like this Sith Wheel Bike hidden away here in 'Factions'? I don't think many casual readers leave the main Star Wars forum to look in here?

Thanks. A bit of real world structural engineering applied here! I was inspired a little by those energy gates that Qui-Gonn meditates behind in TPM. Thanks a mil. Don't tell the folks in the Train Forum that I dismantled a locomotive to build Star Wars...

The wheel marks in the ground are ingenious. The scene captures very well the mixed Star Wars aesthetic of ye olde worlde muddy fantasy landscape mixed with futuristic technology.

Well, yes...but you lose your no-claims bonus that way!

This is very nice - and a bit scary! Great work. (I think perhaps you need to upload your photos to something like Flickr first and then link them...)

Hi, Here is my entry for the Landspeeder Contest, Category C. In the distant future they will gather on the Outer Rim planets for The Speeder Races. The rules don't exist and the prizes are enormous. Contestants equip themselves with stolen flyers, ex-imperial armour and nerves of steel...

It has a great shape. It's difficult to invent a ship yourself and make it look plausible, since the ships in most sci fi films and illustrations were invented by people either with qualifications in graphic design or some super artistic gift. But this wouldnt look out of place in a real Lego set I think. Well done!
