Here are some pictures of my Transperth Mercedes Benz OC500LE: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/oc500le/oc500le.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o...e/oc500le-1.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o...e/oc500le-2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o...e/oc500le-3.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o...e/oc500le-4.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o...e/oc500le-5.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o...e/oc500le-6.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o...e/oc500le-7.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o...e/oc500le-8.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o...e/oc500le-9.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o.../oc500le-10.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o.../oc500le-11.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o.../oc500le-12.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/o.../oc500le-13.jpg The current plan is to have a fleet (as many as we can get parts for) of these buses on the next Perth Adult Lego Society train layout. I am also looking into getting a Gas Bus sticker made up for the front windows above the silver cargo area in the front. (as this bus is a Compressed Natural Gas bus)

I just know that I saw the bike with the black stickers at a Target the other day. -

Are you sure it was the blue sticker version and not the black sticker version? -
Send it over here, we need a LEGO store in Australia :(

Has anyone seen any of the following sets in a retail store lately (some are a little older and may or may not still be out there and some are newer and may or may not have been released yet in .au) and if so, which one? (or if you happen to know when and where these sets will appear, that info would be usefull too) Creator Family Home Indiana Jones (Cairo ambush, canal chase) Space Police K-9 Bot Space Police Space Speeder Agents 2.0 (motorbike chase, river chase, robot attack) Police Motorcycle (with blue stickers) Police Car (with blue stickers) Prisoner Transport (blue or black stickers) Indiana Jones Peril In Peru Advent Calendar (any) Any airport sets other than the cargo airplane, the mail plane or the engine mechanic Any fire sets other than the fireman impulse Not interested in actually buying these from anyone, just want to know which store(s) I should hit up to have the greatest chance of finding these sets, if in fact they still exist (or have been released) anywhere. -
...You have so many LEGO instruction books that its easier to download the one you want from the net instead of finding it in your many boxes. ...You keep buying parts (Bricklink etc) because they "look cool" without actually knowing what to do with them. ...Every time you build a MOC, you try and see just how many "cool" parts you can fit in there even if it may not work best for that MOC.

The reason they are doing it this way for the Happy Meals is likely to meet rules McDonald's has about the price point for Happy Meals toys and the allowed complexity of such toys.
-
I would rate the Mars Mission alien as one of the worst parts of all time. Or certainly one of the ugliest parts of all time.
-
...You know more about LEGO than the local second hand toy store (who sells sets and parts) and can get some rare parts at a good price because the store guy doesn't know they are rare

MMV is "no rainchecks", all the pirates are not. If you want a MMV, grab one ASAP, I hit 2 stores yesterday and both were sold out. Seems to be no problems with pirate stock so far. Spongebob seems to be flying off the shelves though. -

If they dont actually have that set (which is a set I would buy if I saw it), I hope the ACCC hits them for false-and-misleading advertising. -
Possible issues with small 9v battery box, advice wanted
jonwil replied to jonwil's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Unfortunatly, the part in question (which was purchased used as part of a nearly complete 5391 SP-Striker) has not been used since 1998 or so and it is unlikely that TLG still has any around. The part in question is this one http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp...rID=11&in=S Given that the lot was sold as-is, its not the end of the world if it stops working down the track, I just want to see if there is anything I can do about the problems. -
I recently bought a set that included the small 9v battery box (the one that contains a single battery) and it has 2 potential problems: 1.The switch is a little sticky (i.e. it doesn't always pop back up when you turn it off) and 2.The interior of the box is covered in something that looks a little like corrosion or something (not just the metal bits, the plastic bits too) The box works just fine however. My question is, should I bother removing the gunk inside the battery box and if so, how? And, is there anything I can do to make the switch less sticky without risking damage to the box?

6781 SP-striker questions for anyone who has one still in box
jonwil replied to jonwil's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks for the info. -
I recently bought a mix lot that had all of this set bar 3 pieces (including the instructions, plastic tray and an unmarked corrugated cardboard box about the size of the plastic tray with "190 622" embossed onto it) plus all of a 6886 Galactic Peace Keeper except the figs plus a few extra pieces. What I want to know is: 1.What pieces would have been present in the plastic piece tray for the SP-striker? and 2.Would the cardboard box I got have been original or would it have been for some other set (or non-lego)?

A theory behind the large box sizes
jonwil replied to HumanPackMule's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Back when the boxes for large sets used to open where the whole front of the box lifted upwards, I used to use them to help with sorting large amounts of pieces. But these days, the boxes all open via opening the side flaps (even the largest sets do that now) rendering them useless for the purpose. I do have 3 tubs (from set 4679) I use for sorting though and wish I could get more in the same size :) -
When my Bricklink order (with my 2 Apollo Astronaut figs in it) arrives, I intend to build a Lunar Landing diorama (no Lunar Module as I havent gotten all the parts, notably I havent found a source for the tan hinges yet) with a Lunar Rover, US flag, science gear and other stuff from the moon landings. Maybe even a golf club.

My to 20 sets (not necessarily in order): 1.10029 Lunar Lander 2.6973 Deep Freeze Defender 3.10191 Star Justice 4.6890 Cosmic Cruiser 5.10040 Black Seas Barracuda 6.8448 Super Street Sensation 7.8466 4 x 4 Off-Roader 8.7722 Battery Train Set 9.10194 Emerald Night 10.4851 The Origins 11.6073 Knights Castle 12.7744 Police Headquarters 13.7641 City Corner 14.10184 Town Plan 15.2064 Air Ambulance 16.7993 Service Station 17.4952 Fast Flyers 18.4996 Beach House 19.4954 Model Town House 20.740 Basic Building Set with Motor What are your top sets? (sets you own, sets you used to own, sets you dont own but want to buy, whatever)

Definitely my #1 wish for PaB is more minifigs and minifig accessories. Even the City Minifig pack and the impulse sets aren't a good solution to get more figs because you end up with a lot of extras besides the figs (park bench, road signs, fire hydrant, traffic light, BBQ stand, cement mixer, dumpster, street sweeper, kayak etc) I suspect there is some business reason behind the lack of figs on PaB to do with things like the cost of making figs (I dont know where it was said but someone from TLG or acting on behalf of TLG said that the printed minifig torso is one of the most expensive parts they make)

I did this recently for the Empire State Building (I had all the parts except the name tile) and wanted to do it for the Guggenheim Museum (which I cant do because I cant get all the round and curved parts in white needed), mostly to show my sister who visited NYC recently. -
I wouldn't expect to see any licensed parts on PAB (starwars etc). I expect the Mr Krabs torso is there because its not considered a "licensed part" (in the same way the fedora is not a "licensed part") Also, something else I want to see on the site is caterpillar tracks like on the new crane and new bulldozer (oh and it would be good to have BOTH sizes of sprocket please)
-
What I want to see: More civilian minifigs (torsos, hair, heads, legs) More minifig accessories (hats, helmets, other headgear, tools, handcuffs, weapons, footwear, neck/back wear etc) More doors and windows and windscreens (put the trans-black windscreen and door from the City Corner bus on PaB and I am SO there) More printed parts (i.e. control panels, TV screens, computers, money, clocks, dials, gauges, flags, radar screens, telephones etc) Base plates (roadways, 8 x 16, 16 x 16, 16 x 32, 32 x 32, 48 x 48) Child/dwarf legs in more colors Roller door parts

You wont find any of the sets in that line in Australia (unless they decide to add a Sydney Opera House to the line) The only places you will be able to get them likely would be the landmarks they represent and possibly special limited places elsewhere in the USA. -
I still regret not being able to get this set when it was released (I was able to obtain all the other Discovery sets from retail stores but was never able to obtain this one). The good thing is I was able to find the minifigs, stickers and quite a few of the parts I dont yet have on Bricklink and they are currently on the way here. The main part I have yet to find (or rather, yet to be able to afford to put another order into a store that has enough of them) is the tan hinge bricks. At least I will have all the special parts from this set and can put it together with a few color substitutions (although I cant apply the stickers until I get the proper tan hinge bricks where they get applied) As for the set, it is one of my top 10 favorite LEGO sets of all time

I am looking to build a Bell Helicopter Huey (or rather the civilian variant) in 6-wide to go with my police station (as opposed to the 4-wide of the recent police helicopter) but I cant think of a way to get the distinctive shape of the front part with the bulge underneath the windscreen to look right. Or a way to get the shape of the bit where it goes back from the bottom of the main cabin and slopes upward and inward to the bit where the tail rotor joins on right. Anyone got any ideas? Or any links to pictures of existing Hueys in 6-wide?
