Will be interesting to see if TLG sells the new Wizzard impulse in the US (given that they didnt sell the last one)

It depends on how bad the vision impairment is, the country you are living in and the kind of pilot license you want but yes I believe it is legal for pilots to wear glasses in some cases.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion

The fact that TLG is making so many new moulds for these sets suggests that they will be produced in VERY large quantities (so as to spread the costs of the moulds out over as many copies as possible) -
Power miners... ending!?
jonwil replied to Omicron Squad Leader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I suspect the lack of long running themes (and long running sets) in many cases has to do with what retailers want. Many retailers of toys these days want new new new all the time instead of same old same old. Which is why LEGO has new products and new themes all the time (instead of the same old products and themes running for years like they used to have). -
The baseball cap is a new version of the piece that was first seen last year in sets like the City Corner.

I imagine quite a few AFOLs will buy a whole box, take the figs they like and sell the rest on BL (given that everyone will like different figs, I doubt there will be an oversupply of any one fig on BL) -
What do you look for most in a lego set?
jonwil replied to sok117's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For me I mostly buy based on whether it has good parts for my MOCs. Being that I build town, I generally buy City sets for parts although other themes sometimes have good parts. -
The new dynamite piece from Pirates and Power Miners would be perfect for the Coyote and his schemes (it always seems to be the Coyote who gets blown up by the dynamite)

Does anyone have a price for the fire helicopter and fire station? I am trying to figure out if its worth importing either or both of those sets from across the pond or whether I should just wait for them to hit the land down under.
-
Anyone got an NZ RRP for the set? And for the new fire station (if that's out)? Thinking about finding someone in kiwiland who can get me one or both sets instead of waiting for the middle of the year when they will aparently hit .AU
-
The white one is the LEGO one.
-
Anyone know of a kiwi release date for the new fire helicopter?

Truck Driver kidnapped over lego in Northamptonshire, UK

I think thieves would only be interested in brand new sets they can flog. Not someones own personal collection of hundreds of random parts that would be difficult to steal and sell on. Plus if someone was going to break into a house, they would likely steal TVs or other high value items that are easier to get rid of. -
Parts you have an unaccountable fondness for?
jonwil replied to Svelte's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The difference between a <insert that tiresome argument> piece vs a good piece is that a <insert that tiresome argument> piece is usually a piece that could have been done better with existing pieces instead of creating a new specialized piece to do the job. Examples: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30643 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30650 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30637 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30621 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30627 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=42609 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30235 It can also refer to parts that are specifically made to be bigger and less detailed in order to be suitable for smaller hands such as the 3-wheel motorcycle or the 4+ figures. -
Looks great there. Other than the aforementioned pub and menswear store, I think what you really need is a roadhouse, those are everywhere in the bush and would look great. Plus if you are doing vehicles, you gotta do a UTE (after all, UTEs are an important part of bush culture). Don't forget the guy in the drivers seat with the bushman's hat on and the dog in the back (although I dont know if its still legal to have dogs in the back of UTEs or not)

Originally there was the non friction pin-and-axle piece and the non-friction pin. Both were made in light grey (although 1 or 2 sets had the non friction pin and axle in black). Then they introduced the friction pin and the 3l friction pin, both in black. Later, they introduced a black friction version of the axle pin and a grey non friction version of the 3l pin. The non friction 3l pin and non friction axle pin both became tan with the friction 3l pin and friction axle pin becoming blue. The regular 2l friction pin is still black and the regular 2l non friction pin is still grey. The 3/4 pin has always been dark grey. As for axles, they first had the old 2l axle. Then they introduced a new 2l axle with notches (presumably to make it easier to remove). Axles used to be black then later they changed the odd length 3,5 and 7 axles to grey to make it easier to tell the difference between odd and even length axles. The 2l axle seems to be made in both red and black.

Since the Pig Farmer has the "preliminary confidential" stamp on it, we cant be sure if its finalized yet or not.

What parts do you wish TLG would use less of (or stop using altogether)? My list: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=60599 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=60598 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30035 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb321 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb263 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb333 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb86 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb410 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb274 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb89c http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb298 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973px437

More parts I wish existed: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=57783 in 6 wide Windscreens, doors and other parts suitable for making coupes, sports cars etc (not convertibles like the recent car but closed-top cars like say an Aston Martin or Mercedes Benz) 4 x 6 tile with a row of studs down one long side (like the current 4 x 6 tile with studs on 3 sides but without the studs on the short sides) Anything else that would let one produce a 6-wide version of the new limo from the helicopter and limo set Parts like the airplane door and frame pieces but matching to the new 6-wide plane parts (could make it look more like the door of a private jet or a helicopter) 6-wide airplane parts in more colors, especially the tail. 6-wide airplane windscreen in trans-smoke. TV screens (various parts) as opposed to the current 2 x 2 computer screen tile which is unsuitable for a TV screen. More sports equipment (golf clubs, cricket bats, baseball bats) More food (donuts, hot dogs/sausages, hot dog buns, steaks/chops/meat, more fruit) More designs of City minifigs Musical instruments. How about an electric guitar, acoustic guitar, amp/speaker (1 x 2 bricks stacked on top of each other with printing or stickers), keyboard (1 x 4 tile with printing/sticker with some sort of support piece holding it up), microphone and drum kit for a rock band. Or how about a saxophone or trumpet or trombone for a jazz band. What I really want though is a set of LEGO Bagpipes :)

Nice ATM although I personally think it would look better if the cheese slope and mailbox were blue :)

1.What LEGO items should I have received as part of Brickvention 2010? I have a badge, a police key chain, the kangaroo custom set plus a Brickvention 2010 minifig (with blue baseball cap and glasses). I also have the Racers set used for build-in-the-bag. Any other LEGO items that I should have (i.e. items that everyone received) and 2.What sort of printing was used on the Brickvention minifig (and the Aussie flag tiles)? What should I do to keep the printing from being damaged or fading away? The minifig I have, the printing is starting to feel slightly sticky, what can I do about it?

Great bank. Needs an ATM though.

I wish they had gone with the machine guns for the Shanghai Chase instead of the revolvers.

Nice job on the post office, now you need to make an Australia Post van to go with it :)

Nice job on the Mitre 10, especially the stickers (I wish I had been able to do some stickers for the Bunnings Warehouse I made a while back)
