Great bank. Needs an ATM though.

I wish they had gone with the machine guns for the Shanghai Chase instead of the revolvers.

Nice job on the post office, now you need to make an Australia Post van to go with it :)
-
Nice job on the Mitre 10, especially the stickers (I wish I had been able to do some stickers for the Bunnings Warehouse I made a while back)

Does anyone have any ideas how to make the 3181 look more like a private/coporate jet and less like a passenger jet? The interior is no problems, its the exterior I am stuck on :(

What are your Top 3 Favorite Elements from the 2009 Pirate Wave
jonwil replied to Dr. Steve's topic in LEGO Pirates
The telescope is great and in various colors has so many uses. The dark green legs on the pirates are great too. I wish they had come up with a new map piece for the pirate line instead of using the Indy map piece though. -
Looks nice, it actually looks like something LEGO might make as a set.

K-Mart has stocks of all city sets including the airport as well as the creator sets (house, helicoptor, small sets, car too I think). Seems (from the prices I have seen) that K-Mart and Big W are the places to go for LEGO. Best bet is to find somewhere local that has both and buy whatever you want from whoever has it the cheapest. -
Can someone who has this set take some photos of: Inventory page of the instructions (so I can see what the set has) Any new or special pieces Sticker Sheet

Good to hear the news on the City sets, now I just have to decide which ones to buy (winning the new airport in the Brickvention 2010 raffle helps with that decision though :) Anyone know of release dates for the LEGO board games? Or of the new creator (the house and the 2 small sets)? Or any of the impulses (city or otherwise)? -
Thanks for the review. Confirms that I WILL be buying this set as soon as I can get my hands on it (I have plans to turn it into a private/corporate type jet)

MYER Perth CBD still had a fair bit of stock but Garden City had mostly empty shelves. -
From looking at the pictures, its pretty clear the baseplate is a tan 32 x 32 Can anyone ID the part being used for the dark green awnings on the front of the shop?

Was in K-Mart Booragoon today and they had the following: 5899 House Building Set Rebel battle pack Snowtrooper battle pack Freeco speeder Droid Tri-Fighter TIE Defender ARC-170 Starfighter plus the 4 small Tiny Turbos sets (numbers 8192,8193,8194,8195) No Toy Story or City though I was also in Toyworld Fremantle and they had no new stock at all. They DID however have a few copies of the previous fire station (just the station, no other sets that I saw). And they arent the only Toyworld that has stock. My guess is that this is why Lego Australia are delaying the Fire product until the middle of the year, namely that there is still stock of previous fire product out there. No sign of any new product at all in either of the 2 MYER stores I was in today. -
Most likely this set is a special promotional set given out at some sort of PR event (toy fair, starwars convention, whatever)

Has anyone seen the new City sets yet (or knows when they will come out?) i.e. the small car, repair truck etc. Or is it going to be like usual where all the junk comes out first and all the good sets dont come out for months? :P -
Looking at the airport instructions we have, you can see that the set has 5 minifigs with the female having what looks like a new torso (in dark bley I think) plus another use of the "Hawaiian shirt" torso. You can also see the piece inventory in the airplane instructions. Interesting pieces: Hawaiian shirt torso New female torso 4 x 4 plate with 2 x 2 hole in the middle 2 x 4 tile in white and red 1 x 3 tile in red new 1 x 1 with the stud on side (not the headlight brick, the new one) in white and red new 6-wide half-cylinder piece in white new green garbage bin some nice trans-light-blue

Damn, why is it that no airline flying to, from or within Australia ever gets the airline promos :( To get one I would need to fly to Europe THEN fly on some European airline then fly back to Australia. Or pay exorbitant prices on Bricklink :(

Nice model there, looks really good.

What is a "Q" element? (its mentioned in the rules file)

It wouldn't surprise me if the Fire theme is being delayed because of the large stocks of existing City sets (police, construction etc) and the desire to not have too much new City product on the shelf too quickly. -
If it has Octan signage, it sounds like the truck stop. I cant see Octan signage on a city square or a transport center (if it was a transport center it would probably have the <-o-> logo like on trains and in the recent City Corner set with the yellow bus and the bus stop) Being a TRU exclusive set (and a large set) its going to have a hefty "TRU premium" unfortunatly :(

They dont have the clout to apply to TLG but they DO have the clout to apply pressure to LEGO Australia to get deals and exclusives (both regular-run sets that are exclusive to one retailer like the wind turbine and special sets like the death star) and for LEGO Australia to favor the big chains vs the small guys. -

All the evidence I have seen suggests that the big retailers (especially K-Mart, Target and Big W who seem to be the top 3 in terms of sales and market share) are applying pressure on LEGO Australia to give them preferential treatment vs Shop @ Home and smaller stores. My guess is that we will see less product (and later-arriving product) in various smaller retailers and independents (especially those who dont buy directly from LEGO Australia but buy through a 3rd party wholesaler)
