  1. For those in the west, Target in the CBD has plenty of Series 3 figs. Went in there and some other lego fans were doing the "feel the bag" trick. Joined in and started looking and then realized that I could pull out my new Nokia N900 and bring up the dot codes. Used the dot codes plus bag feeling to help the others get the ones they wanted before spending a pile of time obtaining the ones I wanted. Ended up buying 14 figs: Rapper Snowboarder x 3 Baseball player x 2 Tennis player x 2 Fisherman x 2 Pilot Alien Cyborg Elf Decided that trying to organize getting some from overseas wasnt worth it. Shipping costs would have been a pain as would payment (since I hate PayPal) plus getting the mix of figs I wanted and yet being able to offload everything else would have been hard (especially the doubles) Bring on Series 4 (already have my eye on 11 different figs with some multiples like the punk rocker, hockey player and scientist, boy these collectible minifigs are going to cost me a fortune if LEGO keeps making them so damn good :)
  2. Target in East Victoria Park (perth) as of tonight (Thursday) had new Star Wars, new police plus the new NinjaGo (including the bike, ice dragon etc) No series 3 that I could see anywhere. They DID however have one single example of the 2010 City advent calendar on the shelf (but at $50 or so I wasnt buying)
  3. Given the theft and cost reasons for not going back to the boxes with the clear window that let you see inside, I would like to see TLG move back to the style of box that opens a bit like a pizza box with the entire top of the box opening up. Easier to use the box as a place to put the parts when building (or to reuse the boxes to put things in later) and less chance that instructions and stickers will become damages when being put into the boxes.
  4. Great to hear that Series 3 has arrived in the land down under (and that Target has it in stock which should make it easier to stand there feeling the bags than it would be if it was at Toyworld)
  5. Anyone who pays more than RRP for a current-range LEGO set (with the exception of stuff thats exclusive to one store only) is stupid IMO.
  6. The "Pet Shop" rumor came from (IIRC) someone who worked in a toy store in New Zealand that would be stocking the product later in the year. So I am inclined to believe it over the other rumors like the post office and bank.
  7. Can someone find out the real story about trans-brown (TLG color 111). There are conflicting reports with some people saying the color has changed for 2011, others saying it will change and other saying there will be no change at all. Whats the real story with this color?
  8. I just bought a new 7498 police station and 6 different stickers had come off the sheet and were ruined (and yes I did contact customer support, hopefully they can send me a new sticker sheet) All the stickers for my other smaller police sets (prisoner transport, police truck) were fine.
  9. With TLG deciding to charge such a rip-off for these collectible minifigs (Series 1 was, what, $3?) I am seriously thinking about talking to the guys at the club about ordering a couple cases from the US somehow and splitting them up.
  10. I dont think its supposed to represent any real-world car since its not a licenced set.
  11. If I was going to buy an entire case of Collectible Minifigures, I would specifically buy one that is still sealed to ensure I get a full set and not one that has had the good ones replaced with junk.
  12. Does anyone have any rumors as to who will get the Police Helicopter, Bank Robbery and Police Chase sets or when they will appear?
  13. It seems like TLG are producing more and more store exclusive sets these days :(
  14. Nice gazebo and nice jazz band.
  15. Nice modular police station, looks GREAT. I am seriously tempted to build my own modular police station (only more modern looking with white and blue ala the TLG police stations). Although I DID build police for last years layout :P
  16. Went to Perth CBD (and was there when they opened). They had the police station but not the other stuff I wanted (the minifig pack and big police truck). Talked to the MYER guy who looked up the police truck on his system and ended up going to Carousel where I picked up the station, minifig pack and police truck (having already bought the prisoner transport van) Wasn't interested in an Emerald Night (as I already have one and one is enough for me since I dont generally build train :)
  17. I found out about it because a guy handed me a sale sheet with all the different discounts (including toys and DVDs) when I walked in the store after work (from the train station walkway)
  18. MYER are having a one-day-only sale on Saturday the 8th of January. Among other thing is a 25% off Toys (including LEGO) Notable Items seen in MYER Perth CBD: New Star Wars New City Police leftover Fire Brigade stock leftover Imperial Flagship stock The best thing though is that they had a dozen or more Emerald Nights on the shelf with a price sticker of $150. This isn't old stock or lay-by returns, this is genuine new stock. (at least as far as I could tell it is) I for one intend to be there when they open (or soon after) to spend my xmas gift voucher present on the new police station. The rumor I heard about Pharaoh's Quest is that its comming to Australia as a store exclusive (which store I have no idea)
  19. I dont believe its a new head, the same head is found on the tram driver in the City Public Transport set. As for the blacks, the instructions for the airplane show the windscreen has part # 4496442. The instructions for the public transport set show the windscreen has part # 4496442. As part numbers are color specific, this means that either TLG has not changed trans-black at all OR has changed the pigmentation of trans-black but has not changed the color number. Without a direct answer from TLG or someone actually acquiring a 2011 set with the supposed "new trans-black" in it, there is no way to tell for sure what the story is.
  20. Don't recall any Spongebob anywhere. Didn't pay any attention to Harry Potter since I have all the sets already.
  21. Report from today's big shopping trip here in the west Spotted NinjaGo spinners (including the double spinner starter pack) at various Target stores. Other than that, there was nothing in Carousel, Belmont, Inaloo, Morley or Midland. Nothing was spotted in MYER in the CBD last night (although I didnt get there today). So that's 2 MYERs, 5 K-Marts, 3 Big Ws, 2 TRUs and a Toyworld, NONE of which had any new stock or knew anything about it. And 4 Targets with only NinjaGo spinners and no idea about any other new product. David Jones in the CBD on the other hand as of today had just gotten stock of the new police dog unit, police boat, mobile police unit, police minifigure collection, prisoner transport and police station. All were being sold at RRP. (i.e. matching Shop @ Home prices) David Jones also had the same NinjaGo spinner sets as Target. Bought the prisoner transport but am waiting for the Police Station to appear at MYER, Target or K-Mart (preferably at a price less than RRP) so I can buy it with my xmas gift vouchers.
  22. Didn't get any LEGO for xmas (wasnt expecting any) Have one voucher worth $100 and another one of unknown value, both of which I will be spending on LEGO as soon as the 2011 sets hit (new police stuff specifically)
  23. Nice space station, I particularly like the way you were able to use those girder pieces for the gantries.
  24. Nice job on your town, it looks great. Do you happen to have the exact details for the sticker paper you are using (i.e. brand name, what store you bought it from etc)? I looked in Officeworks a while back and they didnt have any glossy sticker paper (just some matte stickers for mailing labels)
  25. Thanks for the review, this set looks like it has some nice parts. Wish there was more variety in heads and torsos (i.e. more of the newer torsos like the green sweater one) And at AU$68 (which is ~$3 per minifig including accessories and parts) its surprisingly good value. So many nice parts (stubby legs, yellow hardhat, laptop, green bike and others) Only wishes would have been for more newer torsos (e.g. green sweater torso) and for greater variety in heads.
