Thanks for the advice, I ended up doing something much like the 7239 as that was the easiest option to build in the available space. (although finding all the dk bley click hinges I wanted was a lot of work :)

What DC/Marvel Hero/Villain Do You Most Want To See Made In LEGO?
jonwil replied to Mr. Elijah Timms's topic in LEGO Licensed
Saw an episode of Ultimate Spider-Man earlier today (first one I have seen) and it had Spider-Man as the Iron Spider in a special suit of armor developed for him by Tony Stark. That fig would be AWESOME to see in LEGO. -

hmmm, I wonder if you could argue that since the Target toy sale displays clearly say "20% off Spiderman products" (without listing any exclusions) and since the Daily Bugle set (and the Doc Oc set and Spider-Cycle) clearly says "Spiderman" on it, you are therefore entitled to 20% off. -
'Andy/Bugdroid the Android by Google' Reaches 10K on Cuusoo
jonwil replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
As an owner of a Nokia N900 the only reason I would like this idea is if it means that we get some nice lime green parts of out it (the 1 x 1 plate in particular I could use about a dozen of) Of the 3 projects that have 10k and will be in the next review, I would like to see the Exo-Suit get the nod. Although if the Land Rover makes it to 10k, that would be good as well (I dont think LEGO have ever done a Technic pickup truck before) -
The guns look to be using this piece http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=48169 or something with a similar connector. If you look, you can see the ridge detail around the edge of the socket.

The Arkham Asylum will probably show up somewhere during the mid-year toy sales (if history is any guide) although where it shows up is anyone's guess at this point. This train looks good, depending on price I may need to pick one up as a source of train parts. Although I bet it will be really expensive (licensed sets usually are in Australia)

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Futureâ„¢ Time Machine
jonwil replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
It may be that they dont have a license to the DeLorean name from the DeLorian motor company but they may have a license to the shape of the vehicle as seen in the films. -
I think what I want is outriggers that extend out horizontally with a "vertical" foot coming off the end of the horizontal beam. Although, that said, the vertical outrigger idea might be easier to build.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
jonwil replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I guess my perceptions are tainted by the fact that all of the Marvel sets have so far cost a FORTUNE in my country (Australia) and hence the value proposition seems pathetic compared to other sets in themes like City or Creator. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

I concur that all of the Marvel sets so far (Spider-Man sets included) have been a bit underwhelming. Only one I have considered buying so far has been the Hulk Hellicarrier set but no way am I paying the rip-off Aussie prices for the thing. -
I love steampunk almost as much as I love cyberspace/cyberpunk. Supported.

I am building a 6-wide aerial ladder truck and need advice on how I can build the outriggers so they will both look good and fit in the truck. Anyone got any advice (or any links to MOCs that are both 6-wide and have outriggers?)

Yeah if the fire ATV is still available in your area, that is the best way to go :)

Plenty of forest firemen available on Bricklink :) Or you could buy one or more of the forest fire sets still in stores :)

How to shine rubber tires?
jonwil replied to Cheng Fei's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The unknown question is whether the stuff LEGO tyres are made of is the same thing as real tyres are made of and whether stuff that works on real tyres will work on LEGO tyres. I would recommend anyone trying this to try it on cheap easily replaced tyres first before you risk it on your expensive tyres :) -

Looking more at the fire helicopter, I just realized it doesn't have as many useful bits in it as I thought so I probably wont bother buying it :P This year I told myself I will only buy things I have an actual use for in my MOCs, I bought far too many sets in the past that I dont actually have a need to buy (like the last fire helicopter for one) -

I wish MYER would stop having all these specific sales and just have a good old 20% off all LEGO sale... (although my budget is tapped out right now :) -

Has anyone seen the new fire helicopter in a retail store yet? -
If its 250 in the UK that means its probably somewhere up there with the Tower Bridge, Eiffel Tower etc in size (and is clearly badged "Creator Expert")

The "starter set" looks good, only thing I dont like is that the police logos on the bike, the police torso and the robber torso are not the same as the ones in other new-for-2013 police sets (which means they wont look good next to the other police sets).
