Love the cup rack on the cart. What a great idea for any intrepid ale-seller. -

Gorgeous build and great little story. I love how this challenge is inspiring a lot of Historican pranksterism. -

I'm finally finishing the story of Alva Tyrnsdottir (for the time being) with my AoM Barracks Phase 3. It's going to the largest building (if not build) that I've done for GoH and I'm drawing a lot of inspiration from Ecc and SK's Norse-style builds. Once that's done, I have what I think is a killer idea for Cat C that I can hopefully get done in December. :P -
Thanks SK! DG, could you look at the alternates on Flickr and let me know if you think any of them are better than the one I chose? I could swap em or include an alternate lighting pic as I did a few due to the lighting problems I had with this one. Thanks Mike S!

Great work here. Lots of details to love. My favorite things are the layering effects on the roof and landscaping.

Great story and well-executed build. Just detailed enough to draw the eye, but completely complements the story.- 14 replies

This is a great take on a very common castle build (tower). I love the way you got the spy in there. Top knotch.

Beautiful work, DG.

Very cool and sinister build. Love your choice of head for the drow, too. Makes me think of ritual makeup/facepaint.

I just bought the Jedi Ship from The Old Republic. It seems awesome and has some unique figs. Anyone else have it? Is it worth the $119 CAD I paid? I strongly considered the 2 in 1 Star Wars Rebels ship too. Hard to decide. Just starting to get into SW Lego now that Rebels and playing SWTOR has rekindled my childhood Star Wars love. :P

To raise an army of Kali dwarves! -
Nice job on the roof and on the concept. I think that's probably GoH's first smokehouse!
-
Very fun entry. I hope those dwarves don't get caught. That said, what does it say about the elves if they can't catch 'em? Hahaha.

Thanks Ces! Thanks Jorrith! I based it off some concept stuff for The Hobbit movies. I thought of using it for the MEC contest but decided it belonged with GoH. Anyway, I'd bet that Jackson's concept artists based some of their work on stuff like the Easter Island statues so that's a good call. Thanks Kayne! Thanks, Kabel. I really appreciate that. And don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I've been excited to build for dwarves for a long time, even before I joined GoH. Some of that enthusiasm must be making me up my game.

Great build. One of the all-time multilevel interiors I think, and it comes down less to the size or details but on the quality of the presentation and photos. My favorite detail, though, is the spy prying the floorboards loose with his dagger. That is just a first class idea with first class execution.- 24 replies

That's a crazy build that is. I get a Minecraft feel from it for some reason (not a bad thing at all!).

I originally planned to change my avatar somewhat frequently but have left it, even though it's not very GoH-y. I think I'll be changing it soon and then leaving it for a few more months. -
HSS: The Huntsman Inn, Woodward and more
mccoyed replied to mephistopheles's topic in Guilds of Historica
The build looks good, but I think the photography could be a bit better with more lighting and better camera positioning. -
I think I'd like to see a version of this with Isildur and Elrond or Sauron instead, keeping Disco86's comment about figs in mind. That said, this is the most obvious version of a Mt. Doom build and works so well it's hard to be like "I wish it had x fig". It's a great concept and execution and flawlessly feels like something TLG did in another universe.
