An I see, point taken. Well I guess close it up since we are just treading water now, but maybe create a new topic perhaps called "LotR IDEAS projects discussion" therefore maintaining a relevant/focused forum for remaining general topic discussion, keeping the front page cleaner for MoC's as you say. Or perhaps just retitle the hobbit thread to "middle earth sets discussion", keeping it all in one place? I'm just worrying we are going to end up with lots of new topics popping up in the future of people asking general questions, especially new members joining etc, because there is no specific "general" forum to pop into :/ Anyway admins do as you wish :)

Granted, I agree completely, but people will naturally let it die when nothing new is added, I'm just saying don't make the effort yet to kill it on the spot so no one can say anymore. Just unpin as others have said and it will take it's own due course with time like any other topic Unless things work on here differently, I'm new after all :)

I see no reason to take the action to close the thread, not until we get official confirmation that lotr projects have no hope of success on ideas... Unpin for sure, threads about specific projects and moc's will be more enjoyable reading and less repetitive. Also I wouldn't move anything over to the general licence-theme page, as I heard long time ago was suggested, leave it all in the historic section as is.

Fantastic job! They looks just like they do in the video-game :) Seeing these makes me wish even more that lego had made these dwarves too

Got a couple of comparison pics done with the original ent: Sorry for the bad colour/brighntess quality

Yea I think that's the most viable design out there,...so long as there is a light brick in the body somewhere
-
Ah oops sorry I misunderstood the problem

Thanks! I'll try to make some better photos and if I'm happy with them then I will :) I would have a go at the Balrog in the future like others have done already but without these bricks in trans orange I don't think I would be satisfied with it, for this reason if given the choice I would rather lego make a Balrog set themselves than treebeard...

I like it :) I think you did a good job improving the model but still preserving some of the originals details

Not sure if this is of any interest, some close up pics of an un-painted Dain ironfoot helmet, showing back and sides: http://h5.m.taobao.com/awp/core/detail.htm?spm=0.0.0.0&id=39214980561

Well I didn't have any success finding it on ebay when I was designing/building, but i'm happy with it as it is even if some do turn up.

If you don't mind me dropping in on the Treebeard discussion one last time ... I just uploaded my MOC, I will likely make comparison pictures with the official Ent at the weekend. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=102747

Hi everyone, I would like to share with you my latest creation: Treebeard the ent in the style of an official lego set. I took inspiration from the videogame when i started the face and beard but quickly found out that the design would have been too fragile in real life, so after completing the face I built him using a mixture of LDD and playing with my own bricks I had to hand. It was extremely satisfying to experiment the design using in-hand bricks rather than just using the software as I normally do, a process which has lead me to one of my all time favorite creations of one of my favorite characters in fiction. One thing I discovered while sourcing parts is that element 6091 in brown is very rare which is why I didn't use it for his horn for example. "Little orcs...*grumble* " See more pictures and my other creations here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/401108

I'm on the side that the ent in the orthanc set is not treebeard, if you think it makes an acceptable treebeard then good for you but to me he looks as much like treebeard as the MOS looks like the witch king or Orthanc looks like Barad Bur... Iv actually almost finished making my own version inspired by the videogame and I' ll post it here soon :) For me this thread is a bit of a zombie however since we have one or more strong standing lotr projects on Ideas and lego still has the lisance then there is still a chance for future official lotr products therefore there is something to talk about. And because everyone else has...My wish list for a hyperthetical wave 3 is: £12: Osgiliath ambush (battle pack): Gondor soldier, gondor ranger, mordor orc x2 £40: The Balrog: Gandalf, moria orc archer etc £80: Battle of Pelennor fields; witch king on molded fell beast, Eowyn, Merry, brick built mumakil with driver and 2 archers, Theoden on snowmane £100: Battle of osgiliath: Faramir, gondor rangers, Gothmog, mordor orcs, Frodo, Sam and Gollum, fell beast and ringwraith, Orc landing boat. Online exclusive: ~£200 Minas Tirith, GTW, Denethor, Pippin, shadowfax, gondor soldiers, guards etc, mordor orcs with a catapult.

Great news!! Now we just have to wait for the next review
-
That last one is mine, thanks for referencing it :) Yea I can see what you mean they do have similarities, we both seem to have taken the same design ques from the medieval market village set. My reference source for the outside design and look was this sculpture https://www.wetanz.com/the-prancing-pony/ since it's hard to make out much in the movie itself

Wow great design! The light brick in the chest is a cool feature
