LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion
DuckBricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'm pretty sure the main vehicle of one of the fil's key protagonists will be featured in a set, but I am very curious on how it will be accomplished though. I'm sure Lego designers will find a way, as usual - after all, the vehicles in the movie evolve as a natural process of designing sets, so if it was impossible at some point, I think a change would have been made. -

Ah, so a bit like how we got the Batwing polybag before getting the actual set in the second wave. I actually like this; it's a neat way to tide people over until the sets come out. -

Some good news - TA confirmed Season 9 is under development! https://twitter.com/TommyAndreasen/status/870967298332532736 Plus, we'll figure out why Wu aged so much in 40 years in Season 8, which will be great!- 4,591 replies

I can see why James Bond didn't work though - even though it was pitched as a normal non-Dimensions game as well (and a trailer was made for it) that probably would have meant accompanying sets for a theme that's really not that suitable for kids. As for Minecraft, it was actually supposed to come out as a Story Pack for Year Two but was canned, sadly. Yeah - I'm honestly surprised they cancelled Minecraft so late into development (It was part of the Year 2 update). I guess they were worried a full-on Story Pack wouldn't sell...

Some new artwork for the movie has been released on the Ninjago website, featuring the Ninjago Harbor and Destiny's Bounty: https://lc-www-live-s.legocdn.com/r/www/r/catalogs/-/media/franchises/ninjago 2014/wucru/missions/2017/mission 72/wucru_week22_gallery_banner.jpg?l.r2=656410719 -
It's crazy to me how far Minecraft went along to the point that it was included in the Year 2 update and then removed a few months ago. I'd imagine development was almost completed until they realized they couldn't manage to sell enough copies of an expensive Story Pack.

They were in talks with a 3D scanning company (the name escapes me) but it seemed legitimate. Yeah, no problem. I found it fascinating as well and am looking forward to the eventual article detailing exactly what was I store for Year Three once cancellation is announced. Also, Vortech's interactions were leaked as well, although it's unclear whether or not he will ever be released: http://www.brickstolife.com/lego-dimensions-lord-vortech-hidden-character-interactions-dialogue/

There are some interesting tidbits revealed regarding the development of Dimensions and some cancelled plans according to a source in TT Games. Regarding his credibility - he's been trustworthy in the past. Obviously I'd take this all with a grain of salt though. The patch update released recently removed the exact amount of Gold bricks that would be found in a Story Pack, which was stated to have been a cancelled Minecraft Story Pack with Steve. How to Train Your Dragon was considered very early even before year 1, but third parties weren't interested. James Bond was pitched as not just Dimensions but a full game, and a mockup trailer was made, but it was considered too adult for Lego and replaced with Mission Impossible. Avatar, Despicable Me, Looney Tunes, Universal Monsters, Tom & Jerry, Godzilla, The Smurfs, Thunderbirds, Tintin, Angry Birds, and Shrek were some IPs considered, but most of the third parties were not interested. Year three had a new peripheral that involved scanning any figure with a camera and importing it into the game. New story was also planned. Finally, there's a really interesting development article on the toy tags with photos of prototypes: http://www.brickstolife.com/the-evolution-of-dimensions-toy-tags/

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
DuckBricks replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
My thoughts exactly - but at least we did get several new elements in glorious trans-yellow - and that Batwing cockpit would fit in perfect in a neo-Blacktron MOC. Anyway, is anyone else a tad disappointed that one of the sets is Batman's Buggy? It just seems like a bit of a wasted set to me, especially as they could've gone all-out and included some of the unique Uber villains (Agent Smith PLEASE) like the Double Decker Couch of TLM's third wave, but if we really are getting a second CMF series I guess there's still hope. -

I'm already on "Secrets Discovered" and plan to do the full season, they're just taking forever to upload. The process is basically I record my computer's inbuilt audio as I play the entire video, and extensively edit the audio afterwards to cut out advertisements, jumps, lagging, etc. It's time-consuming but I'm happy to do it for everyone as it's been forever already and I'd hate to keep it all to myself.- 4,591 replies

I've been extracting the audio and splicing them to the non-English versions. I've only done one so far but can do the rest if people are interested. I'll put them up on Google Drive and share out the folder here.- 4,591 replies

I have tried recording it in every way possible to no avail, so yeah, unfortunately no recording. I may be able to grab the audio and splice it with an alternate language version, but it won't be in HD sadly... And yeah, the app has every episode since Rebooted.- 4,591 replies

Nice catch - yeah, the weapon seems to be almost certainly what you've described, down to the keyring and all. Interesting...

I'm really glad this wave is drawing more and more people into the theme - these sets may be the best wave of Ninjago sets ever, rivaled only maybe by Possession due to the Temple of Airjitsu and Wu and Morro Dragons. Here's my breakdown on what we can see so far 70606 Spinjitsu Training is a neat small set, and it's nice Lego isn't pulling any punches on this $10 set - Kai and Zane are all decked out in their respective armor and weapons, unlike several of the most recent "impulse buy" Ninjago sets where figures have been missing out on armor, masks, or updated heads. The scenery is ok - it's nothing too special , but would look good in a larger training display. 70607 Ninjago City Chase is certainly a nice build in its own right, but is a tad overshadowed by the heavy hitters - the marketplace suffers from being too much of a facade like most sets of this nature do, but I do love the small police car and the asian-style lamps. Also, civilian outfits look great and My browser crashed for inputting a giant wall of text into this and it seems that EB has recovered maybe the first paragraph. Ah well, there goes that hour I spent writing up detailed descriptions Tl;dr sets are great except for the uninspired Manta Ray Bomber, Jay's Lightning Jet combines the best of the Milano, Aero Booster, Superman Battle of Smallville, and more, and the Destiny's Bounty is quite possibly the best Ninjago set ever, even including Temple of Airjitsu. The only oddity is that Temple of the Ultimate Weapon contains the ninja team without hoods and DB has the opposite - I figured it would be reversed. Edit: The Brick Fan just released photos of Ninjago costumes, and they include to-scale props of all the ninja weapons! I don't want to buy all of them but I think I have to... http://www.thebrickfan.com/the-lego-ninjago-movie-disguise-costumes-and-accessories/ -

That and the one-wheeled mech are coming next wave. The image is advertising the Lego Catalog App, but I'm sure there will be an app game as well as the past two Lego Movies have had. -

The sets look generally really good, and Jay's Jet is a really pleasant surprise - I'm getting lots of Aero Booster vibes and it's a good mix of parts and techniques. The only one that actually disappoints me is Lloyd's Dragon, which seems to have suffered the most from the film to set downscaling. Perhaps I was just too hyped from the trailer, but it's a bit of a let-down for me. Oh, and Destiny's Bounty is amazing. -

I know for sure the set pictures are fake; they're clearly 'shops of existing sets. Dunno how they knew the minifigures in the sets unless the Brick Fan just got around to posting it and the info's been out for a bit now. Also, Ed and Edna! Suffice to say I'm pretty shocked to see them crop up, in a movie set no less. I wonder how different they'll be from their TV show iterations...? Shen-Li is also intriguing - is he an ally or enemy? -
The ring looks great, but there's something a tad off with the ship - the cockpit seems a tad too elevated, although it might just be perspective - I'll have to wait to see it in the plastic to decide.
