I hate yellows. I'm sure there is a whole forum dedicated to the discussion, and I'm sorry to provoke a sensitive issue, but I just think the fleshies are a natural evolution that looks 1000% better than the old yellows. I understand using yellows if you're building in LEGO City, but in the licensed genre, fleshies are the new purist. AND I WILL PHYSICALLY HARM ANYONE THAT SAYS OTHERWISE. j/k

After crash landing on the forest moon, and without a tracking beacon, Goatm An 4-61 heads in the direction of the Imperial construction site. He decides to stay in the canopy, moving from tree to tree, because of the relative safety and vantage point the great height provides. After a considerable distance, Goatm feels the trees shake. He presses himself against the rough bark and readies his only weapon, a spear taken from an unfortunate creature. A giant beast moves past him, stopping to smell the area. Luckily, faintly in the distance an obnoxious song echos through the timbers. Apparently the local creatures are celebrating something by singing about their yub nubs. *6/12 Edit - I was playing with the tree design and decided to change up this freebuild. I hope y'all like it. It's a little abstract because I didn't want to build the entire Gorax. C&C are welcome. I would like this judged; thanks in advance.

[SoNE Freebuild] Endor - Crash Landing

You did not come across as rude and/or blunt. Sorry if I came off as defensive. -
I like that thing on the upper corner of the building, your building wall, and the way you propped up your awnings. I wish you had a few more tan tiles and fleshy minifigs though

[SoNE V] - Preparing for the Mission - Hangar 29
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Thanks Nom. Sorry I had to sacrifice the shredder VK. I tried reshooting today to cut down on the clutter once again, but I had too many problems with the wind and disappearing clouds. I also couldn't come up with a good way to stage it; I think it was all the gray and black that made everything blend together. Oh well, if anybody is nauseated by the busy assembly line they can scroll down to the empty hangar. @VK - Is there such thing as a practical/tactical cowboy hat? Not to mention cape and sword. -
[SoNE Freebuild] Endor - Crash Landing
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Is there a way to crash correctly? Honestly, I just threw in some pieces of a 9492 that were sitting around as scrap. I know the solar panel is facing the wrong way, but who knows what could happen when a Tie fighter goes tumbling through the trees I look forward to seeing your MOC. -
While testing some modifications to the incredibly poor atmospheric controls of the Imperial Tie Fighter, Goatm An 4-61 crash lands in the towering trees of the forest moon. He is lucky to be alive but also dangerously lost. Canopies above and below him keep Goatm from seeing either the ground or the sky. He also happened upon on of the filthy creatures infesting the trees around the crash site and quickly dispatched it before it could cause any problems. It may be a long journey back to the Imperial build site. I would like this build judged, please. C & C welcomed.

[SoNE V] - Preparing for the Mission - Hangar 29
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Yeah, it didn't look so cluttered in person. I think all of the gray/black overlapping each other makes it hard to distinguish between parts. If I can I will reshoot. -
[SoNE Freebuild] Endor - Hangar Bay 29 - Tie Phantom
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I actually built a new vignette for the Shameless and its shuttle, here, in an attempt to keep the theme more succinct. Hopefully it was the right decision -

I moved my WIP hangar over to the freebuild forum, here, and replaced my SoNE V entry with an AT-ST factory, here. I'll fill in story when I have time. Let me know what y'all think. -
[SoNE Freebuild] Endor - Hangar Bay 29 - Tie Phantom
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I might have something on my computer at home that I can upload later, but I didn't really take any construction pics. If there a specific feature you're trying to build, PM me and I'll try to help you through it. The red wings are really just a flat base and the gray wings just sit on top at a strange angle. I'm not really sure what the pieces are called that I used to connect the gray wings, but you can see them pretty well in the first pic. -
Despite set backs on Sullust, Goatm An 4-61's work on the Cutlass 9 earned him a position on the Imperial Survey Corps. This is a welcome move for the unconventional Goatm because of the ISC's reputation for independent thinkers and lax protocols. Goatm and his crew's newest post is Hangar 29 aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer, the Avenger, currently orbiting the forest moon of Endor. Here, Goatm continues his role as test pilot for some of the newest starfighters being dreamed up by the ISC. Hangar 29 is a busy place needing several droids to maintain the equipment; around the clock security to protect the Empire's secret prototypes; Imperial officers to keep track of red tape; mechanics and engineers to science up the whole operation; and, of course, fearless pilots. Word has it something special is coming in. Security is being beefed up. Even the mouse droids seem to be bigger and busier cleaning and maintaining the hangar. What could it be? It's special enough to get Goatm's special engine from Tatooine and the personal installation from Goatm's new engineer. The pilot (aft) and bomber seem to be very happy with it. Tri-winged... maybe a Tie variant... An elongated cockpit... It couldn't be... I thought they were all destroyed... It is true... It's a Tie Phantom, the V38 itself. I guess the Empire still has a few tricks up its sleeves. Fully loaded with hyperdrive, deflector shields, and a stygium cloaking device. Of course the Empire wouldn't rely on a single factory to house every single Phantom. Goatm is honored to temporarily house this lovely prototype on its way to secret facilities recently developed in the Outer Rim. I would like this freebuild to be judged as a combined build (Phantom and hangar). (Bonus shots of two more MOCs being showcased in the hangar) For more adventures of Goatm and Hangar 29, go to Watto's Junkyard and check out my SoNE V entry. C & C always welcome.

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Avenger (Imperial Headquarters)
goatman461 replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I was kind of disappointed by the method of construction. Since the Empire is already building in space, at zero gravity, I think it would make more sense to clear a few trees, pour the concrete, but then just drop everything down into place. Based on the movie and the way everything was nestled among the trees, I figured they used low-impact construction (like dropping in massive landing platforms and satellite dishes without having to clear massive areas). Low-impact would also help keep the base hidden, although a moon-size base directly above kind of ruins that. -
I was hoping to do some back story in the freebuild and have the freedom to build in a variety of environments
-
Just to add to BEAVeRs questions - Since there is no limit on Rebel locations in this episode, does that mean that Imperial freebuilds can be located anywhere too? From the core rules: "the planet of an active episode is open for free builds from both factions, until the episode ends." So I could build on Kashyyyk, Mustafar, Yavin 4, etc.

You and Bob's opinions were nothing but constructive criticism and I believe my new build will be better for it. I hope nobody feels like they need to mince words when commenting on my builds. -
[SoNE V] - Preparing for the Mission - Hangar 29
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I think Bob and Mstrofpppts are right, although I don't necessarily agree with the comparison to LDD. My original plan was to showcase all three fighters in the hangar at the same time, but I ran out of bricks, and the contest wasn't what I expected. I've since gotten a couple bricklink orders in and should be able to rebuild the hangar around the AT-ST and shuttle, making it a single, set scene. At the same time I will shift the starfighters over to a freebuild. Any suggestions of features to include are appreciated. -
[SoNE V] - Preparing for the Mission - Hangar 29
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
It was intended as a friendly response, just to show that Goatm revels in being the bad guy. I hope you didn't take offense. @ Bob The rules say "One entry per member" so I guess it depends on whether or not a separate element in the structure = a MOC = an entry, Who would make a ruling on this? -
[SoNE V] - Preparing for the Mission - Hangar 29
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
@ mstrofpppts So the law of diminishing returns is kicking in. I can always take a few pics out if you think it will improve the overall build. I've got one more scene of a tie pilot shooting some spies but I can always leave that on flickr. Let me know what y'all think on this. I would much rather get some points for the episode rather than rack up xp, so some insight on what the judges want to see would be helpful (more ships, etc. showcased v. only best stuff included). I'm not sure which part of the balcony you're referring to, is it the exposed studs from removing the black walkway? or the lack of transition underneath the comm center? or something different? Not much I can do about the very bottom, except maybe frame some of the pictures differently. When I was finishing the floor I was very short on bricks and should have done some kind of greebled corner. I also need to set up an indoor shooting space so that I'm not so rushed taking pictures and can catch some of these details, like the white hangar door getting loose, or the top of the Phantom coming apart. I'm guessing there's a forum for shooting mocs, anybody know where it is off the top of their heads? -
[SoNE V] - Preparing for the Mission - Hangar 29
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Thank you for all of the great comments. @BEAVeR I didn't think much about the correlation between grill bricks and grill tiles, I will consider it more in the future. Removing the one grill tile was actually a mistake, as was the loose hinge plate on top of the Phantom. Just one of those things I didn't notice until after I took the shots (like that dang crooked elevator under the Phantom), and didn't feel like going back to reshoot. I do plan to use the technic holes if I can (the build is not over) but I probably won't change much else in the hangar unless it fits the story. VK also commented on the blockiness of the TC but I was never bothered by it, maybe I just didn't shoot it correctly. Although I'd like to break this down to start on some freebuilds, any suggestions on other ways to use the hangar are welcome. I am already planning another ship and some ground forces and I will likely modify couple of the features of the hangar that might make it look out of place by giving them a specific purpose for looking the way they do (like making the grates pop up to reveal maintenance equipment or something). -
Aboard the ISD Avenger, Hangar 29 is devoted to the testing and modification of new starfighters dreamed up by the front-line pilots and ground crew of the Imperial forces. Because of the nature of the Empire's current mission, much of the fabrication wing of Hangar 29 is being devoted to the creation of AT-ST variants. Production of the AT-ST "Shameless" has been completed. This slender, single driver walker was designed to deal with the inconvenient nesting habits of the local fauna and their infestation around work areas. Ground forces had been reporting issues with creatures and loose debris from their nests falling from the trees onto the crew and equipment. The Shameless has a two-step approach to dealing with this inconvenience. First, the walker has been fitted with chainsaw appendages to cut down the nests of the creatures. Next, dual flame throwers will burn down whatever clings to the branches above and burn up the fallen debris below. Brickdoctor has mounted a console system set for installation into one of the AT-ST variants and called the passing crew together for a pep talk and congratulations for the accomplishment. (I did the best I could including all the active Imperial builders with features similar enough to their avatars, if you were left out it was only because I lacked the minifigs necessary) The crew also decided that a special shuttle would be needed to transport the Shameless through the dense canopy to the work site below. Thus, Shuttle HD was commissioned. This light shuttle was designed exclusively for transporting the AT-ST Shameless. Another smaller, sleeker frame for piloting through the tall trees, this shuttle requires a pilot with full life support systems but allows for a driver and two man crew to pressurize the cabin using the Shameless itself. This strange feature, which allows the driver to enter the walker mid-flight but requires the legs to be strapped awkwardly above the shuttle, is what gives the Shuttle HD its nickname, the Hello Dolly, after the exercise the men suffered as recruits. Attaching the walker seals the cabin of the shuttle, allowing a crew to travel without life supports. Once deployed, the pilot may require his life support system to return to the staging-craft orbiting the planet. The crew is eagerly preparing two more AT-ST variants to assist the Shameless. The Brush Hog, named so for its short, think proportions, will be used to push ahead through thick under brush. Twin, upward-facing blasters will be used to clear the trees of unfriendly inhabitants. Another variant, the Lookout, will be fitted with a sniper platform and used as a support vehicle to pick off unseen combatants. A droid below the Lookout guides it to the nearest maintenance platforms for further fabrication. *Hangar 29 without minifigs and special features. *Hangar 29 separates into 3 distinct parts, (1) the assembly floor, (2) the shuttle's "working" elevator, and (3) staging platform and control room below. *Inside the control room *Hangar 29 features.

Great story, I really like how you started your guy off as a civilian, I wish I had thought of that, maybe I'll have to do some prequel freebuilds for my guy The entire build is really detailed and well designed. I especially like the lighting for the bar and the street at night. I can't wait to see more.

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Avenger (Imperial Headquarters)

Is there any reason not to start posting WIPs? I don't see as much need for secrecy in this comp other than recruit, recruit, recruit. Speaking of, it's great to see so many great builders join the dark side; we need to keep up the momentum. -

I've uploaded some pics to flickr. If you can't see them it's because I haven't set you as "family" yet. just pm me and I'll add you. If you see any major issues with the pics let me know ASAP before I break it down. I'll post more when I have the lighting. https://www.flickr.com/photos/110484383@N05/
