Last one tonight. Round 1 - Naboo Starfighter - cruise gimp by goatman461, on Flickr
-
That was definitely in my head while I was making it. As was this... My original version had more of a engine on the back, but it was looking too much like two separate builds (one DSD and one steampunk engine) so I incorporated the engines more into the middle. I just got done editing it with GIMP for practice (thank you BEAVeR). Here is an updated shot. Round 3 - DSD1 front gimp by goatman461, on Flickr

[MOC] Steampirate Kenobi's Airship (with Steam Sailing Booster 4.0
goatman461 replied to Rolli's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The details on this are really amazing. I especially like the spare parts box and the stairs (which is a very creative way to make that transition). I'm very glad to be up against such and outstanding build. -
This is so damn cool. It looks massive but at a perfect scale for that minifig. I can't imagine how many pieces went into this; it's just beautifully detailed.

Round 4 Entry. Please get over to FBTB and vote tomorrow. Presenting the Rueppelli Vulture Droid. Round 4 - Vulture Droid - 1 bygoatman461, on Flickr Separatists forces have deployed these flying terrors to not only take their N-1 counter parts out of the sky but then to land and ravage the remains. The fighter is lifted into the air by a autonomous pilot that pedals at tremendous speeds to power the two large fans on its body. Once in the air, energy from the pedals is used to vibrate the golden feathers extending from the wings. These vibrating feathers allow the fighter to glide through the skies at incredible heights for extended periods of time so that enemy fighters can be identified and destroyed from above. The Vulture Droids have allowed the Separatist forces to keep a tight grip on the kingdom of Naboo. [SoNE Episode VI] Searching on Ord Mantell - prehistory
goatman461 replied to markus1984's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
There is something about the lighting or colors you used that I really like here. The dbg looks especially dark, did you do something special to get this effect? The floating box is very cool. I think those back corners could use more clutter and maybe some light green ooze leaking out somewhere to emphasize the great dark pieces. A follow up shot of you two wading through the "water" might be cool, otherwise, where are y'all headed? -
Does this mean that Markus gets to build Bothawui in the episode?

[SoNE VI] Mon Calamari - Something smells fishy
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Because the Rebel's are courting the Calamari and their shipyards. And I assumed the Calamari were building A-Wings at some point. I'm also assuming at this time the Calamari are starting to break from the Empire but are not in full revolt yet.- 16 replies

After dropping a shuttle full of chatty troops off on various floating cities of Mon Calamari, Officer VeR and Agent An made their way into the watery planet's orbit and docked with a shipyard Goatm had become familiar with during his last mission. Goatm was hopeful that some of his contacts here could give the pilots an idea of Fett's whereabouts. He was fairly confident that the Calamari were unaware of his recent sabotage of their B-Wing factory, but he couldn't be for sure. The personal greeting he got made him very suspicious, though. Why would the Calamari send out one of their diplomats to greet the Imperial officers? Why are they so insistent that Fett has not been to the shipyard and that we are "wasting our time" by searching here? Either they were able to identify Goatm or these slimy fish are up to something more sinister. The return flight to the planet's surface is tense as Goatm considers the implications of this treatment and Officer VeR struggles with his own distracted thoughts. Flickr *I wanted to rework my previous entry for this planet and sync my build up with BEAVeR and I's current story arc. If you are interested in the previous pics, they're still on Flickr for the time being.

[SoNE Freebuild] 6-2 - Journey to the Empire
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Thank you. I don't build from LDD or keep track of pieces. I'm kind of a sloppy builder and just grab parts as I go and fit them together in sometimes precarious combinations. You're welcome to build whatever you like and I'll try to help you recreate them but they are not always in nice easy sections and I do break them down for parts as soon as the pictures are taken. Sorry, maybe I can make some more instruction friendly miners in the future. Feel free to contact me with any questions about how pieces might have fit together. -

goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
That's going a bit too far. I'm just too lazy to make starfighters the way they're suppose to look; so I just throw prototype into the description and call it good. Thank you for all the kind words (on all the builds) -

This is the story of Goatm An, Imperial pilot, saboteur, and slayer of Ewoks. Goatm An grew up as the middle class son of a Naboo pilot just prior to the Trade Federation's invasion in 32 BBY. His father was killed during the initial in occupation and he went underground with his mother and siblings. He soon joined the Naboo Underground and on one fateful occasion uncovered and gleefully dispatched two unlucky collaborators. From that point on, Goatm felt like a different person and his family struggled come to terms with the viciousness they saw in him. He knew he would have to leave his home world of Naboo and find acceptance elsewhere. SoNE Freebuild - Backstory - Naboo - 2 by goatman461, on FlickrWith credits earned from the Gungans on collaborator bounties, Goatm purchased a small ship and headed into the galaxy. He made his way to a nearby asteroid belt where he began mining the asteroids, pirating from competing miners, and upgrading his ship. He soon put together a vessel powerful enough to tow large asteroids, or disabled cargo ships, to prospective buyers and fast enough to evade local authorities, or other pirates, privy to his activities. Mining was exceptionally dangerous (3720:1) and only an option for the most daring and proficient pilots. The mining process required Goatm to navigate though the field while scanning for desirable metals and minerals, docking next to moving asteroids, and braving the dust and debris of the field to anchor his towing cables. Goatm preferred the thrill and easy of pirating. In 16 BBY this led him to a mysterious ship. Despite being cloaked, the ship's magnetic field could not be suppressed and was discovered by the density scanning equipment Goatm mistakenly left on. Goatm attached to and boarded the ship more cautiously than he usually did when boarding hapless cargo vessels or scavengers. Inside he heard the occupants discussing technical readouts of a test engine. He soon discovered that the four voices he heard belonged to three officers and a pirate. SoNE Freebuild - Backstory - Unknown Region - 2 by goatman461, on FlickrBefore Goatm could exit the vent and shoot the four below, the ISB officer invited Goatm in, calling him by name. The ship turned out to be a research vessel run by an unknown cabal responsible for swaying the tide of power throughout the universe by providing technological advancements to either side and assassinating influential leaders that threaten their plans. They were currently working on an engine for a new "E-Wing" starfighter. The ISB officer had been looking for a pilot to place within the Imperial Navy's R&D division and heard about Goatm's exploits throughout the asteroid belts of the Mid Rim. SoNE Freebuild - E-Wing 2 by goatman461, on FlickrGoatm liked the idea of piloting prototype starfighters and the prospect of being a secret assassin within the Imperial Navy; so he agreed. He then returned to Naboo with his faked documentation, signed up with the Empire, and was soon flying TIE fighters and working his way through the Imperial ranks. [SoNE Freebuild] 6-1 - B-Wing Prototype
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Because it's so easy The first LEGO B-Wing had this ridiculous upright dock and I wanted to make fun of it. I also didn't want to have to build a hangar long enough to accommodate a horizontal B-Wing. -
The Rebel forces, under the direction of Admiral Ackbar, began construction of a new starfighter specifically designed to counter Imperial capital ships. At last, a prototype was built on a secret base and ready to be inspected by the famed Mon Calamari tactician. The rebel crew carefully maintained the new "B-Wing" starfighter on an awkward, yet stable docking platform. Visiting Rebel pilots were also introduced to a new "A-Wing" starfighter which could back up the B-Wing on its attack runs by intercepting TIE squadrons. Admiral Ackbar and his entourage were on site to inspect the production and get a glimpse of the new starfighter. The delegation was greatly impressed and some thought that Ackbar even teared up, but none could be sure because he generally looks wet and emotionless. As he reached out to touch the starfighter that could mean the liberation of the entire galaxy, two ISB saboteurs put their month-long plan in to play. "46-2, this is 46-1, do you copy?" ... "2 copy" "The fish is in the barrel, repeat, the fish is in the barrel, what is your status?" ... "Diversion 1 in place, I am moving into position with the secondary charges." "Good work 2, I'm in position behind the upper level guard and ready to take the keys, detonate when you are ready." ... "Roger 1, good luck." "Thanks 2, get home safe." ... "In 3 ... 2 ... "...1" The ISB saboteurs detonated a bomb to cause a diversion and disable the nearby A-Wing crew. Taking advantage of the diversion, Goatm disarmed the upper level guard and threw him to his death. The mechanic's next task was to free the lower docking mechanism of the B-Wing. To do this he slid a second bomb past the nearby Nautolan and kicked the feet out from under the nearby Rebel guard. After disabling the guard with a wrench, the mechanic took the guard's blaster and eliminated the Nautolan witness. From above, Goatm saw the 2nd blast out of the corner of his eye. However, he is too busy eliminating Rebel pilots to check on his mechanic friend. Unfortunately the nearby A-Wing was disabled by blast. The mechanic would have to find a new route home. The mission also failed to kill Ackbar as his assistant's face intercepted the blast intended for the back of the Admiral's head. Goatm was able to obtain the B-Wing prototype and pilot the awkward craft to a secret location for inspection and analysis. While losing the prototype is merely a setback for the Rebellion, the shock to morale will have strong repercussions.
