  1. I am 100 percent in agreement. Its almost painful to see the new modulars juxtaposed up against the old. The size difference is appalling. Like I am looking at a different town entirely. Not just in height too, but that bare back alleyway also stands in stark evidence to what was lost.
  2. I am so glad they featured a picture of it parked to the left of the PR. That was where I was planning on putting it and was anxious on how it would look..
  3. Scale has been an ongoing issue with me too since I tend to use the Lego city vehicles with my modulars. I typically just avoid vehicles that appear to scale poorly however I would like to see how oversized this bulldozer would actually be in comparison to the buildings. I may end up only getting 60073 if the bulldozer is unrealistically large. Need that portoloo. NEED. I have been holding it in for too long now. I'm going to explode.
  4. Sorry I thought I read earlier in this thread the 1st day of availability was Jan 5. Might have been elsewhere. Or my imagination. I live 5 minutes away from a Lego outlet so I will be there on the 1st. And again on the 5th if it was not available. Any visit after that date, if still unavailable, will be in angry mob mode.
  5. I am still sold on that idea proposed in the DO thread of buying multiple DO's to convert both sides to make the "brownside" symmetrical across the scaffolding. I doubt I will actually complete such a project though.
  6. I'll pass on the playability too but the posts above on the pharmacies sounded like AFOL caliber stories to me. The kind of stories buildings should tell on their own. History. The stories that don't really require a design video to spell it out for you.
  7. I was imagining the green cross neon for a corner modular too. Made me drool a bit. Looks like you just got yourself two really solid cornerpiece modulars. Is TLG design team hiring?
  8. What you all are describing sounds like an ideal modular to me. This is quite some hype.
  9. I think these points represent notable parameters or assumptions of the AFOL target audience. I believe AFOLs to have a higher tolerance to seemingly "mundane" establishments. Example: A post office or pharmacy. I cannot speak for the actual sales demand of such modular themes however I can safely conclude there would not be significant opposition among AFOLs to such ordinary everyday buildings. Play features may be considered to be additions to a building not complimentary or even detrimental to the aesthetic features of the building. I think the Town hall elevator qualifies as there were many points made against the inclusion of it. The fire brigade pole was non obtrusive and less so. This is a gray area in most cases as if it is not obvious such as a launcher or things where the user is required to complete moving actual elements of the set around. PR PS GG CC all were safely absent of play features and faced no backlash from the lack thereof. I think how much they emphasize these two points may have a very strong hand in any future direction of modulars and how well AFOLs will take them.
  10. Here is a concern of mine, possibly repeated. Say there is a pharmacy/drugstore modular internally pitched for development/sale, which by the way I am 100% for. Would the design team be limited/restricted by a directive to include play features or is this a one off instance with only the Detective's Office? I could only imagine it would be rather difficult to incorporate actual play features into the building of a pharmacy. Not so much worried about it affecting a future bank modular, but other establishments like drugstores or fish markets or recording studios may face the chopping block by default due to their inability to house a play feature. I can only hope there is no such initiative in place hindering the future selection of modular ideas/themes. If there is I fear we will end up with police/fire/hospital modulars for years to come.
  11. I am a fan. Although the alleyways and containers seem a bit too clean for me to be 100% sold on the idea of decaying. That water though...
  12. All I want for Christmas is UCS Helicarrier confirmation news.

  13. Yes but has it been told through LEGO? If yes where? I want to see it.
  14. Absolutely yes. I think that has been a point of contention with me, that AFOL stories don't need play features as presented in the DO. If I was going to present any type of prohibition story, those features honestly would not help. We can do far better than that ourselves. In case of a modular bank, I could have my overstaffed LEGO police force happily gather boxes and boxes of bank account transaction papers for a subpoena as the bank is indicted for multiple counts of insider trading and racketeering. These things are AFOL stories. They require no features to be built into the bank itself. The DO itself would prove useful too in such a AFOL story.
  15. Look at the previous page. I think Moebius118 has some insight. If by rumors or insight you mean barely comprehensible blathering, then yes. Come to me. For all of it.
  16. From the sounds of this forum alone, this sounds like a set LEGO may end up putting purchase limits on launch day. I wonder if it will be difficult for me to just get one walking in the store on Jan 5th. Do you guys think there will be a serious run on demand on day 1?
  17. I know the modular line wouldn't incorporate any establishment that would suggest too much of a metropolis but is it too much wishful thinking to hope the bank would take an external appearance of say the NYSE? You can't tell me that doesn't scream modular. Just downsize it a bunch. This story should require no additional assistance. If accounting can teach you anything it is how to be creative.
  18. I heard that there will be an area for tellers and a vault. Also the building will be tall enough so that certain bankers may exercise the jump option when the market crashes. Cause you know we kids need our "play features".
  19. Do not worry friends I will be here to generate more buzz for a modular bank than 200 community sites put together can shore up. Okay maybe not but. New Years resolution 2015: 1) Generate even more Modular Bank hype.
  20. No. We the people deserve transparency!
  21. Now I don't feel as bad for having done the same.
  22. What manner of sorcery are these images? How?
  23. This modular seems to make much more sense to me with an additional floor. I'd probably remove that second set of lights though.
  24. How did you get the Octan logos on the LDD model?
  25. This must happen. It simply must. There is no other option. I am mailing my bribes to the LEGO Design group now.
