  1. Did something happen to the Ideas page? I really want this to happen. Thank you for the LDD.
  2. Has anyone attempted to "modularize" a construction site? I'd be interested in seeing ideas on how people have done it. Also the upcoming Creator's 10246 has some pretty good potential for "modularization" hahaha. Ok that joke sucked I'm sorry.
  3. I guess that would be a reason for TLG to stray away from the style. Probably more brass and chrome than they'd be willing to deal with. No Roaring Twenties for my minifigs. 2020's that is.
  4. Any brick mural logos on a modular would be too welcome in my taste for modular design. Again a signature of the era. Nothing too fancy, art through function. Less Disneytown more Main Street everytown. The giant guitar is a bit much for me but I would still keep it as it showcases of the purpose of the building. I'm not one for interiors. I prefer that piece count be used into making larger structures. The only time I may make a case for minor interiors is if there is an excess of windows revealing a blank room. But then curtains or shades do the job nicely. Nothing dollhouse-y is necessary though. However if modulars did represent more of a Art Deco style, I may reverse my opinion on not wanting elaborate interiors. I've seen too many lobbies that fascinated me with that direction. What opulence in fashion. Perfect for a bank. Speaking of banks, I saw a MOC modular bank through a general Google image search that seemed to capture the spirit of streamline moderne. I approve greatly.
  5. I had to look it up but wow I would be hyping up that building so bad if it came to fruition. It exemplifies what I believe to be an ideal modular. The quintessential everyday towns building. Nothing too flashy or fancy but significant in how it represents the era in subtlety. And a records studio? Need. Originally my favorite idea for a modular was something of that diner from the Nighthawks painting but...
  6. There are so many types of establishments that still could be done if they hopefully don't factor in the need for "play" features. My favorite suggestions so far include: Bank!!!, drugstore or clinic, arcade, library or bookstore, pizza parlor, malt shop, fish or meat market, post office, bakery or deli, gas station, courthouse, dry cleaner or tailors, workshop or machinist, jeweler or art gallery, travel agency. I could probably never have enough apartments or offices though. I'd list utilities and factories as well but those likely would not fit as they are standalone structures. Bank though... still waiting. Going to build me a modular waiting room for my figs to wait for a bank. Like just a room with chairs in it.
  7. The interior and exterior fit in very nicely with the TLG modulars however I have one major issue with this MOC. That is no way to carry a pizza. Bad deliveryfig.
  8. I have been waiting for a corner bank modular for 460 years. You'd figure with all the play features and interiors a bank would accommodate while having notably exquisite architecture that it would have been one of the first modulars off the line.
  9. You did an excellent job of finding buildings in the targeted color however, if the modular looked like this, I am sure there would be rioting in the streets and governments would be overthrown.
  10. Someone certainly beat Speed Champions off the starting line that's for sure.
  11. I think to put it simply, not all of us are expecting or welcoming a Copenhagen or San Francisco collage of buildings. I never stated structures never existed in those colors in similar layouts. There are many aspects of global cities that many people may not want to see in the modular line. Although it may make sense given everything regarding LEGO, some of us will associate it as a recreation of some Disneyland type of monstrosity. And it is not a wrong opinion to have. I think perhaps TheLegoDr makes a point with DO in particular:
  12. The problem isn't that AFOL's can't ignore the play features as is. It's that we delve into the world of what-could-have-beens and think of the lost space or pieces if the creative design wasn't applied towards play features. We think of what more that building could have been if the original modular direction was applied. And no a lot of us don't have the assets to change it ourselves. But yes those colors though. That light blue? One thousand ughs will not suffice. It will be hard having a modular display accommodate for the future colorfulness of this modular trend.
  13. I am just speaking for myself here but I find it very difficult to imagine these two scenarios: 1) An adult using those play features of DO such as pushing the barrel around by himself (without kids) 2) Children lining up wanting the original modulars (the ones with empty interiors by comparison) I long concluded at least in my own head that this product line was originally AFOL-centric. It is not at all surprising to me there is a large population of us that disapprove of this trend.
  14. My highly confidential, highly exclusive sources confirm all of the features speculated above. Also they hinted that it is a corner fraternity house. With tons of play features like minifig kegstands and a beer pong table. LEGObros unite! But they also hinted it could be anything but that so...
  15. Same. OTW accurately captured many aspects in which the modular series in its current trend would begin to alienate many of it's original AFOL audience. His problem however was in the manner in which he conveyed these viewpoints. The current state of the compromise in DO does not bother me. I will probably be getting it day 1 due to all the potential it has to be made into something more. But when I saw these new play features being explained in the design video all I could think was oh no. If this current design is encouraged with the proper sales we will see the modular line's features continue to migrate away from fans like us. Then it will be a stretch of imagination to call any of it a "compromise". I don't mind detailed interiors as much. I do mind the incorporation of play features however, which is wasted space and bricks for someone like me. Dare I say I actually wish the pricing was higher just so that we could have the possibility of even larger types of establishments like office buildings? Not a popular opinion to say the least.
  16. Speaking of which, Astrid did not appear on the DO's creator design video intro. Does that mean she has moved on elsewhere? (This may be old developments for everyone else here)
  17. A minor concern of mine with the modulars is, as the new modular direction moves to incorporate more play features and stories, will it prevent the design and approval of more "boring" (possibly adult) structures such as libraries or offices? They would make hard establishments to create play features around however would have provided more in terms of architecture and structural presence. The one thing I hope is that the modular line does not end up becoming LEGO City - The buildings.
  18. Hot Dog Minifig! At long last, I am complete. My LEGO fanaticism can finally rest.
  19. One of the most exciting aspects to me about DO is how it is ripe for modifications into a cyberpunk version or even a post-apoc version. I will likely not be the one who will be able to modify it but I definitely look forward to seeing the people that do.
  20. I'm not entirely condoning his posts. But I also understand the betrayal people feel when something they are passionate about moves in a unfavorable direction. Just as OTW would have to learn the hobby is not solely guided by his expectations, others need to learn when there is an inflammatory post it may be better just to ignore it rather than a response to hit the road. Let the mods handle it if it is truly something infantile or inappropriate. No need to escalate a passionate opinion into something hostile. For the record PR is my favorite modular. I personally believe it to be a welcome compromise between the interior and exterior worlds. But in doing so it may have downgraded the size of the overall building in order to maintain a reasonable piece/price/set economics. Can't have it all. Such is life.
  21. This is getting ridiculous. OTW may be guilty of crying something sour repeatedly, but other members are just as guilty for suggesting opposing opinions should just leave the forum or even the hobby. This is a place where we are not a singular group think. There is such a thing as a nay opinion. I disagree with him on the sentiment that the modular line is moving away from adults but I do agree with him that the dollhousification of the modular line seems rather unnecessary compared to what the product line originally started off as. And no, the modular line appeared to be intended for AFOLs as an alternative to LEGO City as suggested by the price point, expert focus and age suggestion. I would assure you the majority of the modular fandom is working adults but that would be an extrapolation based on anecdotal evidence. But it is still kid friendly. And it is still adult friendly. We all need to stop being so hostile over a toy. And definitely stop telling people they don't belong just because they have a opposing opinion.
  22. Seeing how they are worth at least a 100 dollars, you are asking the right questions. There is a future for you with Ace Brickman's Detective Office. That is a pretty bold counterfeit or smuggling operation seeing how there is a detective office right next door. That or Ace must be hilariously incompetent.
  23. Why is the guy in the hat wanted? He seems like a nice dude. Maybe some kind of counterfeit cookie operation?
  24. This is certainly fascinating developments. Who called BS? We got a barber shop. Who wins that prize pot? Next modular lottery up! My guess is a Call center/ Pawn shop/ Petrochemical plant/ Monastery.
  25. People, there are directories in the city train station sets that should clearly determine the location of this fabled Lego City right? Right? Seeing how that image was Googled off Eurobricks, this topic may have occurred before.
