PG52, The 40 tooth gear is powered and can spin independently on top of the turntable as it spins.

This is my LEGO station which includes my technic legos (my favorite).

Guys & Dolls, I ordered some bricks and made a MOD of this. I changed the 40 tooth gear to a turntable with a 40 tooth gear that is driven independently of the turntable gear. The arm is still attached to the 40 tooth gear. I also remade the pen holder and enlarged the table. My excitement to make the first spirograph was dashed by the fact that there is too much play in the 40 tooth gear. The graphs are completely unacceptable, unfortunately. Also, for some reason I can't copy & paste my photo.

How many spirographs can it make really? In theory it should be 2x2x4x4x4=256. But, without shifting any gears and only changing the position of the crankarms, a very different spirograph can result. The number of combinations increases dramatically. Check it out.

PG52, Version 4 is a great MOC!! I built it 3 days ago. Just joined eurobricks too. I got the spirograph through Rebrickable. Thanks!! I have been having great fun with it. I found a few things missing in the PDF instruction file. But, I figured it out and got the spirograph working anyway. Looking forward to version 5. Thanks, 1963maniac
