  1. Wow. This is awe-inspiring! I love that it can change functions, just like a real stadium.
  2. I love when builds are not only well-done, but humorous. So many great techniques!
  3. I'm going to try this too - thanks!
  4. If you happen to have an air compressor, that will do a nice job of dusting Lego. Good luck :(
  5. I try to stick to certain themes, avoid buying the sets that are replicated every few years, and don't buy duplicates. If I want to buy large set, I need to find a place for it first. Of course, my husband has no such restraints when buying Lego. Our Lego room is already full, and while putting up lots of shelving will help tremendously, I fear it won't be long before we run out of room! :(
  6. I look forward to seeing some of these scenes. Welcome!
  7. I never get tired of looking at vintage sets - welcome!
  8. I will, but it will be awhile before it's incorporated into the town. We just packed up our town display because the Lego room is getting new windows and new drywall once the weather gets a little warmer.
  9. Mine's getting a supercharger at some point, so that will hopefully help. I have seen a video of the motorized roof. They're neat, but I've already built up my arm muscles lifting the roof off of mine (not that I could get my hands on a motorized roof anyway!). Plus I love how it fits into the trunk. I know what you mean. I have to keep my vintage town separate from my modern town because the difference in scale bugs me. I'd like to see your town. :)
  10. I am fortunate to have a Lego room, but the modulars are in the dining area, in a cabinet. There used to be liquor in it, but now there is only room for pint glasses on the first shelf. The top two are Lego.
  11. This is beautiful and well-designed. My vintage town needs a vintage equivalent to my modern town's wind turbine. Thanks for the instructions - I am going to build this for my town!
  12. I love these, especially the last one. The front grill, the trunk, the bench seat - classic!
  13. I own a green 1994 Honda Del Sol in real life, so naturally I decided that my sigfig should have one. I wanted to keep it vintage scale (along the lines of the convertible from the Poolside Paradise set), but with modern pieces. Here is my real Del Sol: Here is my Lego version: I had so much fun building the first one, I decided to build a second sporty car:
  14. What a fantastic idea!
  15. I've looked for photos in the past and haven't had the best luck. I would try looking up vintage McDonald's commercials on youtube, because a lot of them show people eating at McDonald's, and you'll get to see the interior. Of course this doesn't show the complete picture, but it's something.
  16. I'm excited about your project. Is it going to have a vintage or present-day interior? All of the older McDonald's around me have gotten "sleek" modern makeovers and it's just not the same! I am totally craving a shamrock shake now.
  17. It has such a whimsical feel to it - lovely!
  18. Welcome! I love looking through old Lego catalogs :)
  19. Very nice curves on the cars. You make it look effortless.
  20. I don't mix my vintage town and new town, precisely because the difference in scale bothers me. I prefer 4-wide cars, even though the scale on 6-wide is more realistic. I didn't see this post until today, but coincidentally I was looking for this part on bricklink yesterday, as I own a green Honda Del Sol in real life and thought that my sigfig should have one as well. I guess most cars aren't bright green...
  21. Are you going for a modern town or a vintage one?
  22. I prefer the ferris wheel, epsecially since there are other crane sets but only one ferris wheel set. This creator set is not minifig scale, but the ferris wheel can believably be converted into minifig scale by making the seats larger and getting rid of the tiny buildings on the baseplate (if that is the scale of your city, that is).
  23. I think shelves are the best bet. Wall shelves take up the least space, but if you aren't allowed to attach anything to your walls, the Billy bookcases from IKEA have worked well for me in the past. The nice thing about the Billy bookcases is that the shelves are adjustable and you can buy extra shelves to maximize the space that you have. As far as minifig display goes: I haven't done it yet, but as part of our Lego room project (which will involve putting in new drywall), we have plans to put shallow shelves in between the studs.
  24. The attention to detail is fabulous. I love the dragon model and the Lego store displays. And then there's the apartment - not only does it have wonderful little details, like the bookshelves and shower, but the design of the room has a real sense of style. If it existed in real life, I could see it appearing on the Apartment Therapy site. Well done!
