I would have to say the coolest looking castle for me is #6093 Flying Ninja Fortress. Nice creative design and a good looking set. However for those who feel the Ninja line should not count, then I have always liked #6098 King Leo's Castle.

[KEY TOPIC] LDD feature requests
Hoboman replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Well, after playing around in LDD I tried to build a few things. Then I took them apart to see what Bricks I needed. Last night I built my first one using "real" bricks. It did not go as well as I would have liked. So here is what I learned from this experiance: 1: LDD does not show well ranges of motion. So if you plan on having something swing, it might not show you that it will not swing the way you expected it would. It just shows if it can be connected at a particular angle. 2: LDD does not show the impact of the center of gravity. I am sure with experiance I will learn that on my own, but the model did not stand on it's own without changes. 3: I did not realize how the colors would really look together until I saw them as bricks. Again, had to make some changes. 4: LDD does not always show the "lines" between bricks as you spin the model to look at it. In this case there were a few lines that were more obvious then I expected. 5: LDD does not allow you to test how fragile a MOC will be. Of course not all of this is LDD fault or really anything wrong per say. Just now this means I need more experiance to learn what to expect and what to look for going forward. Just thought I would share in case someone else new is starting out. -
Both Daniel's (Father and Son) think you did a great job with this one. Bravo!

Of the ships you have posted so far (or at least the five I have seen ) I like this one the best. Now that does not mean I think the others are anything other then great. It is just this one grabs my attention and imagination more then the others. Well Done.

I think some of the point is lost here. Will a new 'Classic Space" line bring in the revenue that the Star Wars line is now? If the answer is yes, then TLG might want to do stop the Star Wars line to help keep the fans moving from line to line. But if the answer is no, then the truth is, TLG should keep the Star Wars line alive until sales show it has run it's course. Not because someone missed a set but because they drive sales. I guess what I would like to know is what % of their sales is to AFOL and what is still kid driven. What % of their revenue is driven by the various lines. That would be some interesting numbers to add to the conversation I would guess. In any case, the truth is, as long as they keep makeing LEGO blocks I will keep buying them.

Which are better, light flesh minifigs, or yellow ones?
Hoboman replied to Sirius Black's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That makes sense. Thanks for the input. -
Which are better, light flesh minifigs, or yellow ones?
Hoboman replied to Sirius Black's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So it is ok to Necro a thread a year old so new members like myself can discuss subjects already covered? Odd as I saw another thread where a new person was told by a Mod not to necro an old thread, but to start a new one. Seems we have two standards for the new members that are in conflict. As for the Topic, I like the original Yellow myself, but I can see why the Peach is attractive to some folks. EDIT: Fix Spelling error. -
Thank You for standing up for kids like my son. He has just started his LEGo journey and Star Wars is one of the key draws for him and his friends. Through Star Wars I have gotten him to think about Kingdoms and we shall see where it goes from there. As for re-releases, I am glad LEGo is doing it. When an old set sells for a weeks pay because it is "retired" it leaves the kids empty handed. The re-release allows the kids a chance at the iconic sets like Bobo Fett's ship but because LEGO changes them it leaves the retired set as unique.

This was creative, cute, and well exicuted.

Are there any regional shows in the Los Angeles CA area? Thank You Daniel

Well Done. I love the whole look. This is a MOC to be proud of. I am curious, how long were you working on this?

Come to my house and play LEGO with my six year old. He does not care. If he wants the chariot in the castle he picks it up and puts it in the castle. Course he also puts the power minor drill right next to it, so the whole idea of scale and "lines" does not come into play for kids. It is us AFOLs who worry about lines and scale. Not kids and not the parents who are not AFOLs. And as others have said, then build your MOC to fit what you want through the door. EDIT: Fix spelling.

Thank you, I agree 100%. Sorry, I never saw your "original" subtitle. Just the one that was there when I responded.

Just a local point of view. My local LEGO store sells out of the Kingdom sets as fast as they get them in. No other line is having that problem. So I do not think that there is a problem with the line selling less.

I am sorry fred67, but this is something I find funny. As an adult we elect to select a child's toy for our hobby. We know there are lots of true scaled figures out there. but we select the cartoonish childs toy. Then we worry the scale is off? If I wanted my figures to match the vehicles, train sets, etc I would buy into something more like Metal wargame figures etc. Your subtitle says 'What I hate about LEGO' well twhat you hate is exactly what I like. LEGO is fun, creative, cartoonish, childish, colorful, and not stuck on any one scale. I can make what I want and have them all on the table and it is still fun. Just my .02

Ebay fails me... And how to trust Bricklink?
Hoboman replied to Artifex's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Just bought a power miner rock monster group off ebay. When they arrived, they were key chains that had the "chain" removed. No where did it say that they were the key chains on the auction. The seller claimed they never said they were from sets. I would never expect this from a Brick Link Seller. -
The Battle of Grunwald Painting in lego
Hoboman replied to Sire Pirol's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That is just unblivble. What it must have taken in just effort while assembling it boggles my mind. I admire the artist for both the effort and the creation. -
I went to the local store to sign my son up for the Lego Club meeting. We bought a small set for me and a slightly larger one for him. We hit the $75 so we were given one of these. My son did not want it (he is into his Knights right now ) so Daddy got to keep it for his collection. Now the struggle, open it or not....

Oh I like this. It is great for a small outpost and would work well on a gamje table for a "camp" as well. Thanks for showing it to us. I agree, this would look good accross from the tower in set #7948.

Nice MOC. Well done. I liked the "Swimmers". I enjoyed seeing your work.

Grouping Factions into a Super Faction of Castle
Hoboman replied to Cpt. Dan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
My six year old and I have begun to build "Knight Armies" as he calls them. I started us out by buying a couple fo the Kingdoms small sets and one of the Battle Packs for him. I also went through my old bags and found a few old Castle minifigs. We did just what you suggested. He is the "Good Guys" and I am the "Bad Guys". He has any red or lions on his side and I kept the Green (and old knight) and the Dragon guys on my side. So far it has been fun. I think for MOC reasons your idea has a great deal of merit and makes sense. -
I just sat and walked through all 22 pages of this thread. Here are my thoughts in no particular order: - Wow is my army small. - Wow are some of these armies big. - It is a shame how many posts the photos are now broken. - Wow are some of these armies so very cool. - I love the guys who had lots of factions. - Man my army is so small. - This thread is wonderful. So to all of you who posted photos - Thank You

Wow, that is a great ship. You did a good job capturing th eship in LEGO style. I am curious though, do you know how heavy this is? Also do you know how many bricks are in it? It is always fun when I read that info on these large sculptures.

Very well done. I love the little "cut away" on the back side. Nice touch. The overall presentation is also nice.
