The Baritones 2 Introduction & Discussion Thread

25 minutes to go! -
V-LV-24D Another car for my growing city collection. I seriously need to start building a building *lol* My citizens hav dozens of cars, but no place to live Anyway, let me know what you think of this MOC The roof would need to be replaced by a red piece of course. LDD just didnt offer one. But I am going to order the parts I need via BL, so Ill be able to show the car for real pretty soon. Front: Back: Side:

+1 on Transformers +1 on BTTF +1 on Terminator +1 on Spaceballs -1 on LOTR (boring, we already have fantasy-castle. Similar settings possible, minus the license fee)

Sigfigs Wanted! I need some peoples sigfigs!
DJ Force replied to Dennimator's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I have no idea where I found my recent sigfigs head. But the rest is Keikens body and the Genki/Hitomi hairpiece. My wife has an orange racers torso and as you can´t see the Poison Ivy hairpiece. That might be changed some day to a purple painted one. Both figs have black gloves. Third member of our family, not yet pictured, is a 2hite (or light pink) 1x1 cone, a white (or light pink) 1x2 jumper plate and a yellow 1x1 round plate. That´s our daughter -
The Baritones 2 Introduction & Discussion Thread
DJ Force replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Aww man. I was so hoping to make it in time for the sequel, but I missed the sign-up thread a couple of MINUTES. I´ll be reading and following the story, though. Might be interesting to be able to jump to conclusions this time instead of real investigations Looking forward to the upcoming twists. Hinck, any chance to see some of the old cast in a Cameo? -
I´ve seen worse drawings before! You´re really gifted. I especially like your way of coloring with pencils. Something I tried many times and failed equally often.
-
Just in case you get it twice now.... I might be interested in some spare parts
-
Given the size of the wheels and the feel of the whole set, I´d rather have gone with 6 stud wide cars. The set just doesn´t scream "classic town 4 studs" to me. You´ve got a pretty realistic looking film camera, but 4 stud wide cars just don´t look as realistic as 6 studs.

I got mine because once there was a time when I was wondering why always when I reply in (or start a) thread, the thread instantly becomes so uninteresting that nobody is willing to reply anymore. So I became the Topic Killer. ...Topic Killed

Anyone wants some MISB City sets cheap?
DJ Force replied to Dennimator's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Dammit, I already bought the ambulance. How much would shipping be to Germany, though? -
Not sure how to post a file. But if you give me your Email, I´ll send it to you.

Hey, that looks nice! Good camera design. The dolly seems to be a little big. Might be the perspective, though. (btw, the sound technician is called Boom Operator) Is the house facade supposed to be real or a set? If it´s a set, I suggest using some brown and tan pieces in the back to show that the set is made of wood.

Thanks a lot! I cannot upload this model to Lego.com, because I used some Creator-parts. LDD only allows the Factory-palette to be uploaded. But I´ll order the parts via Bricklink and build it for real. I´ll post building instructions then.

V-LV-20C As good as I could get it with LDD... BEHOLD! The famous DeLorean! Doors open: Backside: C+C welcome

I have lots of Space baseplates for sale or trade. 9 of these: 1 of these: 3 of these: 4 of these: I am looking for lots of the new city straight roads for trade.
-
Great! Thanks again for all those wonderful recommendations! My wife just reminded me that my budget is quite limited, so I´ll check if I can get any of these recommendations on sale, for trade or on ebay. I saw Dump Truck, Cargo transport and cement truck along with the small street sweeper vehicle in a savings-pack for $50. I´ll see if I can still get that one and then find me some parts packs
-
Whow. I can´t believe noone´s going to second the General Motors License. Just imagine all those American Classics! Corvette, Camaro, Firebird, G20, El Camino... The list is endless! And honestly: We NEED more civilian cars for our city layouts, don´t we? By the way... I wonder why TLG isn´t making more with their VW Beetle license. A minifig sized beetle would sell pretty good, I guess.
-
Very cool looking vehicle. I´m not too fond of the black color scheme. Black kills all the details in LDD, which is a shame. Please upload the instructions to the Lego Factory website, so we can download the file and build the car with real bricks. I actually might add this car to my new city layout.

You´ve been watching that show "1, 2 oder 3" a lot in your childhood, haven´t you? A very nice TV-studio camera, looks as spot on as LDD can get. However, I don´t think those cameras are still in use in modern TV-studios. Especially when you want to go for dolly, crane and stuff like that you might want to browse the net for modern film- or television-camera systems. On a sidenote: an EB-Team, which means Electronic Broadcasting, usually consists of two people. A reporter with a microphone and a cameraman with a small and handy camera. Noone would use a huge and heavy TV-Studio camera like this design for going out and make some EB-news. (Unless it´s He-Man or the Hulk. Everyone else would get a nervous breakdown trying to carry that camera around )

Thanks a lot for the input thus far! (and a happy new year, for that matter ) I´ll put 7733 on my wishlist. Really a good set, I must admit. I´m still not sure about the construction sets, but I actually might consider getting one or two smaller sets. I´d rather not break the excellent and detailed looks of GG, CC and MS with a plain building as in 7633. If I get the 7994 on sale, my layout will feature water and then I´ll get some coast guard sets. But I think I´ll pass on the helicopter set, as I don´t want to have flying vehicles in my layout if I can avoid it Now for a more difficult task. In order to build some nice building MOCs, I need parts. My parts bin however consists of pretty basic bricks in pretty basic colors and some parts from old space sets or random Exo-Force leftovers. I honestly don´t think I could build a house from those parts. Which sets are excellent and cheap parts packs for starting MOC buildings in the style of CC, MS and GG? I´d rather not spend my monthly sallary for Bricklink orders And finally... Who´s interested in trading about a dozen Space crater baseplates for road baseplates? My city will need some streets after all
-
Finally. I am starting a city layout. Until now I have some population, the Custom Garage and - tadaa - the Green Grocer. I am going to get myself some road baseplates and (much later) the Cafe Corner and Market Street. But! After having those 3 buildings and the stuff mentioned, what comes next? What sets would you recommend? I am really into the Custom Garage cars and I already ordered the parts to build the ´57 Corvette in my sig. What else would be cool for a nice city layout that would blend in with the sets? Please don´t recommend classic city sets if there´s not a really good reason for it Things I already have: 8401 for some basic population 10200 Custom Garage (with a 64x64 baseplate for a nice backlot) 10185 Green Grocer 5620 Street Cleaner Impulse 7622 Indy Race for the Stolen Treasuer (Take away the weapons and you´ve got a nice old car and Delivery Service for GG) Things on the way: 7992 Container Stacker Custom Corvette (see signature) 5611 Public Works Things I am NOT planning to add to my layout: Anything Airport (too big) 5-12 police headquarter, fire department or hospital (they just don´t blend in with CC, MS and GG) Building site (Some vehicles are nice, but just too many big and static sets imo) 4-stud wide cars Things I might add to my layout: Harbor and/or seaside - might even add some of my wife´s Paradisa 7635 8396 So, that´s it. I am planning to build some nice MOC buildings and more cars, but I am very open for suggestions as to what to buy
-
Bought it Saturday, along with Green Grocer, a city Impulse and that 4-impulse-in-one-city set. Spent over 260 bucks and didn´t get any free stuff
-
Well... me on the other hand... I don´t want to spend my money on Lego just to buy Lego. There´s not really anything in the 2010 lineup that got me interested. Agents (I know, already out, but just recently here in Germany), Power Miners, Pirates, City, Star Wars, Indy... Nope. Maybe. MAYBE, if I really start collecting City sets such as Cafe Corner and company, I might start getting into Indy. But if not, TLC won´t see the most of my money. I´ll just get the castle sets for my wife and thats it. I guess I´ll spend my money on bricklink orders then.
-
Now THAT was cool!
-
Wow! Excellent sculpting, given the size. Maybe already a little too detailled, at least Bossks head almost looks like a real action figures head. Not this TLC style smoothness.
