Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion
The-Daryl replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Licensed
Only thing that springs immediately to mind is Leia's Endor hair was on a CMF (but it was on the CMF before that Ewok Village was released. As for the Ecto... this is going to look great next to the BTTF piece!!! Now, if only we can get a Buckaroo Banzai set :) -
This is great! I have no idea what Fabuland is, but from the Hobbiton angle... Just wonderful. The texture and colors are very whimsical, and it really makes you feel like you are looking in at the shire on a warm sunny day!

One interesting thing, to me... although they base the sets off the Ultimate Spiderman cartoon, 76015 has a "classic" Doc Ock, even though the packaging SAYS Ultimate on the front. There has to be some wiggle room with the license for that, so maybe something to look forward to :)

Seeing that new LEGO Movie spot featuring Green Lantern actually makes me think maybe he'll be the minifigure included with the DVD/blu release. I mean EVERY other character (from what I've seen in trailers) in that movie is available in some set or polybag (heck, the simpsons house drops onto the road at one point ha!). And every media release seems to include a mini (Clark Kent with batman, Han Solo with Padawan Menace, etc). Some nice pictures coming out of Nuremberg, but haven't seen any SH yet. Was the event just yesterday or is a multi-day thing?

That's a good idea! As far as head choices... What about the TMNT Foot Soldier heads? Do the eyes line up with the cowl's eye slits? (I don't have one to check, but that would be black bottom and silver eyes, close to white).

BrickWarriors Battle Packs at Five Below
The-Daryl replied to LibraryBoy's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Hehe. I just checked the store locator.... It came back with "There is no Five Below store near you. YOU SHOULD MOVE". -
Maybe because the film was supposed to be a Summer release? From a retailer/merchandising perspective getting them on the shelves before Dec 1 might be advantageous for the holiday shopping season. For me, I appreciate I will be able to get some Black Friday deals this time around (Bit of an aside, but this past November a local Walmart offered 30% off LEGO AND they had the sets on the floor already! But the 30% wouldn't come off and they wouldn't honor it since they weren't supposed to be sold yet)

Hopefully someone that goes to Nuremburg will just have an interest in the theme for more specific details in text. Like many, I watched that video for the Star Wars Rebels LEGO; it's odd if that was a specific announcement related to the show that most of the minifigs were still prototypes anyways. Maybe by New York we'll see a pic of Smaug. If not, Fall isn't that far away (ok who am I kidding it's forever! hehe)

Slightly off topic, but wouldn't a Amazing Spiderman (from the movies) work as a base for a purist custom? (I'm just going off his version in the video game). It's darker blue. I can't think of any red skeleton arm pieces off the top of my head, but it might be doable.

Iron Spider would be interesting. I'm a little surprised that with 3 more spidey's in this coming wave at least one wasn't (Since all it would be is different printing, and a Venom back piece with arms - no new molds).

I agree. Or if they HAVE to have "exclusives" make it the packaging ONLY, then release the figure within a couple of months in a widely available set (Like Azog).

Lord of the Rings: minifigures
The-Daryl replied to KeteR_u_S's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Nice work! Love the Haradrim, especially their pauldrons. -
Sorry if that came across as terse, that wasn't my intent. It's just typically when I'm reading a thread (on a text message board) I expect to be able to... well read it. Not watch it. I'm not knocking it for folks that find it useful. It was just an honest query (since on the last page there were several videos). Videos augmenting a post are very different than just using a video as a post. Some of us have bandwidth limits, no audio, hearing problems or any other number of other reasons that mean a few words and a pic or two are preferred (and doesn't seem outside the bounds of reason while on a text based board). I'm pretty new here. I've enjoyed this particular thread very much (I actually have read all the way to the beginning)- I've found lots of inspiration (and even a bit of awe) in these pages. So it wasn't my intent to ruffle any feathers. I'd just like to continue to enjoy it.

What's with all the video links? Pictures and words stopped working?

[MOC] Lola (Car) from Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The-Daryl replied to ReZourceman's topic in LEGO Licensed
Lola is a Corvette Stingray; the front is much longer than the back. That's the design of the vehicle it's based on. @ Rezourceman Not a bad job :) -
Thanks for the information, Ianmrid! Like many others I'm disappointed that Storm's hair won't have the tiara. But Wolverine's cowl, and the Cyclops *almost make up for it. Hearing that it's a "evergreen" is pretty exciting, too. Since eventually we'll get most non obscure characters. Hearing that Spiderman is a big seller made me a bit sad though; At least with Batman he wore different suits and the minifigures can have some variety even with it all being the same character. How many Spideys in the same exact suit do we need though?

Thanks Ianmrid. I very much appreciate you taking the time to share what you saw :) These sets sound exciting! (While my wallet weeps). LOVE that we are finally getting a Galadriel!

The new Hobbit sets (last month) were also at retail for a couple of weeks, then went the same way as the rest of their inventory (bloated prices). Whether it's intentional to draw in the unsuspecting, or just someone not doing their job in a timely manner, it seems they are still keeping up to their old tricks, just not right away. So the new super hero sets might stay at retail past being available :) Speaking of which anyone have any luck finding these new sets in stores? I checked one TRU this afternoon and they didn't even have them in back yet (sometimes they'll get stuff early and actually pay attention to the "street date" sometimes they just put it out on the shelf when they get it).

Has anyone considered that the branding might just be changing in 2015? We know the Hobbit is ending this fall, and there has been no news/word on LoTR; maybe 2015 is both and neither - Called Middle Earth, or something similar that just combines both themes going forward. I mean there isn't a series called OT, PT, A New Hope, etc. It's just STAR WARS. And although these films are 80 years apart there is a GREAT deal of possible crossover (at least as far as molds, prints, settings, and some characters go). Just a thought.

This is very cool! And, imo, pretty realistic for an actual/possible set design. I especially like the troll reissue :)

They could use Woody's (Toy Story) legs/arms for a "powered up" Mr. Fantastic.
