  1. Excellent bunch of troops, @Elostirion
  2. Hmm... sorry you don't like the idea Well, the advantage is that you not only get a faction tag, but can also collect several Era tags over time and display them all, instead of having to stick to just one.

  4. That sort of depends on what twist you want to give your creation... Could be seen as educational, maybe artisan - just try using build and story to explain why you choose what
  5. All of them. They might be locals, but they strive for sophistication and urbaneness - savoir vivre. À la vôtre!
  6. There's another, more delicious background to that - French speakers and especially Belgians should get it Thanks, Bodi, but I didn't even write half of this Better check the Courrier's motto again Agree on this one, though Ve-hery!
  7. Darn - certainly didn't expect that!
  8. Here's to the Corlander-Oleander friendship! Hmm... we definitely lack smileys with beer/rum/wine-glasses
  9. If this is your scientifically sound, Corrish deduction... well, good night, Her Majesty!
  10. Knowing one's Gods-given, true place in the world is not fanaticism - it's humility Wanting to sacrifice a Corrie to the Gods for such a blatantly insulting remark - now that would be fanaticism
  11. You mean... ARRRHHH!! the Sea Rats
  12. @Drunknok Sure you can do a mix - as long as you stick to the size minimum, it will count as one plantation (or any other type of property). However, if you want to go for a certain (so far only island-) bonus, your build has to center around that particular commodity/good/crop, etc. Sure. After all, you do build the required size MOC. If we didn't allow this, we'd create an unfair advantage for those players with huge brick collections.
  13. Just post it in its own thread. You can add a link to it here if you want
  14. @SpaceJoey86 Welcome to Oleon and the Brick Seas, 'just Jonah'! Now, that's the face of a dedicated man - keep rowing, you're expected in the colonies! If you got any questions whatsoever, just ask, either here, or in the BoBS Intro thread, or in our PM to which you will soon be invited Vive le Roi!
  15. Yeeeeaaah!! Clearly the better Silent Mary And finally a worthy contender for the title of 'Oldest Big Bucket of the Brick Seas' I'm absolutely adoring the looks!!
  16. Glad you do. At first it was all in white and light yellow, but the darker look makes it appear more... bureaucratic Thanks, CG But yeah, quick build, didn't really put too much effort into this... I'll know now what to try out when featuring another cutaway section in a build Mes Dieux! I'll demand from Calida to send the army to Eltina tout de suite! Thanks, Bregir So far it's not much more than what you can see, plus an empty room... but I'll probably turn it into something larger at some point. Sure can do Not sure I get what you mean with renderer I'm using bluerender for all my builds You got something better? Not too keen on POV-ray anymore, though
  17. Awesome build, KotZ - Elise and Emile will make a fortune delivering rum to all the thirsty throats of the South Prio Sea and beyond! I also love how you integrated the white beaches of the Île d'Or Now, go strike a favorable sugar cane deal with the Terraversians! Well... yes, we do. Oleander bureaucrazy at work here!
  18. The first edition of the Eltina Courrier has been published, read all about the latest adventures in all of the Brick Seas! Oh, and... in your face, Kings Port Advertiser!
  19. More than just fake news - since 615 Never was more an exciting time in the Brick Seas! Adventurers of all nations have ventured into the unknown, hoping to earn fame, honour, or more earthly gains. The editor has gained privileged access to the log books of several captains, and is proud to bring you news before any other paper in Nova Terra. But first for some general headlines! Reckless Corlander Diplomat Missing! Don Isaac Montoya, lead consul to Queen Annetta of Corrington, ventured rashly into the hands of notorious pirate, the Sea Rat, Captain Morgan. Without as much as a guard, the Corlander Diplomat landed on Tortuga, and was last seen heading towards a beach with Captain Morgan, who had recently proclaimed himself representative of the association of Sea Rats in a daring raid on the Malto peace talks. No claim for ransom has been published yet, but the Eltina Courier has no doubt it is only a matter of time! Eslandolans Wasting Money On Beer! As usual around this time, many Eslandolans find their way to Weelond to enjoy the success of their Breweries and lose way to much money gambling away. The socalled Octoberfest is where the miserly Eslandolans let down their hair and act like real minifigs, with every appearance of excess. The redactional staff on the Courier has no doubt a less fanatical daily adherence to greed and abstinence in their daily lives would lead to less misbehaviour once the corks are off. I won't let them touch my wood! - local Eltina timber trader says The 'timber crisis' continues, as local traders still refuse to deliver our expert quality timber to the spoilt city of Breshaun without proper compensation. Let them have all the glory? The Eltina Courrier says No! Mysteries in Freeport! Victor Servadoc, rumoured to be part of a secret order, has reached the Garveyan settlement of Freeport, a haven for smugglers, fences, and other entreprenant individuals. He was last seen wandering the harbour aimlessly, before being approached by a strange gentleman known to be involved in covert activities. What has Servadoc gotten himself into? Picnic gone sour Landing on what the Corrish have foolishly named Fiorentia, Puvel and a platoon of Royal Pioneers, started mapping the site. The Eltina Courier has it from reliable* sources that Puvel threw a tantrum when it became evident that the beetles were not indeed gems! Nearby shipping reported dark clouds rising above the island, which is sure to have put a stopper to any romantised shenanigans on the flowery patch of land. *The Eltina Courier maintains the right to keep its sources anonomous, but swears that they are not just local drunks... The Folly of the Few Important men in high places often see sanity go out with the bathwater, and Lord Maximilian Damaximus has been found feeding strange rumours of ghost ships to captains all over the Brick Seas. It would appear, however, that not even pious, loyal Oleonese citizens are free from Folly. Our very own Captain Sebeus has fallen for the infamous scheme and is now on the hunt for the Flying Dutchman (whatever a Dutchman is...), a mythical (non-existant?) privateer raiding the seas. Latest news is that the expedition has found another unlucky believer, the Mardierian war galleon, El Grande, possibly on a similar quest. Rolling out the Big Guns His excellence, the Duc de Corban has brought the flagship of the Fleet, the HRS Royal Philip, namesake of our Glorious King, to the Mardierian capital of Londa to solidify diplomatic relations. However, word has reached the office that Mardierians have no respect for the well-being of our boys, having refused them their well-earned and long-awaited shoreleave. We have no doubt the Duc will ensure our boys get the respect they deserve. The Hunt for the Red Nose Deer! The end of Captain Old Beard Caliquot? Filipe de la Manzana has relentlessly been pursuing the mythical Golden Apple for more than a year with little success, but now it would appear a breakthrough is near! Outfitting the Brickwall Frigate for an expedition, he is spoiling for a fight - The Red Nose Deer, captain Caliquot's flagship may soon find itself set upon by an enemy above its class. Or will Felipe take a more refined approach? Young men and Foolish Hearts Another one of Damaximus' disciples have found himself in trouble.Young explorer, Emanuel Alejandro Izquierdo has set out from Trador to make a name for himself, by adding new lands to the MAESTRO portfolio. However, his ship, the Arkady, is said to have been set upon by a storm, and many fear she may be lost. Does not the Eslandians know of Nemesis? Going South or going south A Corlander delegation dares the impossible - an expedition to the far far away capital of the behemoth that is the Mokolei Empire! What will they encounter in these strange lands? Will they return with riches beyond measure - or without their heads? Our local expert drunks report that a cacophony of Corlander agendas has already lead to quite a delicate situation in the town of Tazelft. Fish out of Water Mayor Henri Hollande is in quite the predicament, faced with a dilemma of great moral implications. Enroute to uncover the secrets of the new Terraversan state, the RNTC has come across a small squadron of distressed vessels, asking for help. Will Hollande stay loyal to his masters, or adhere to the laws of the sea? Classic Pirates Maybe the drinks in Fatu Hiva's bars have become quite expensive, maybe the ship's golden paint had washed off, maybe he hopes for some early diggers' bonus - something has notorious Captain Sulu and the crew of the Golden Dragon go after the treasures of the New Haven Sea! But will New Haven turn out to be a safe haven as well? Our interview partner in Fatu Hiva reports of hearing annoying voices sometimes originating from the far islands of the South - local bar owners fear for their best clients in years! Princes de L'Univers! The Prince of Garvey and Duke of Stedor, Lord Maximilian Damaximus, has set out to find evidence of the mythical Allenridders - an adventure that might shed some light on family roots and on the history of many here amongst us! He's found himself another prince to take along on the journey. Together they will travel to the land of Tellvok, where they are to meet up with yet another royalty - the unofficial prince of trouble - Count Mesabi - notorious for blowing things up! Rumors have it the princes' egos already are taking up too much cargo space for the sailors and soldiers to set up their hammocks. Will the royal expedition face a mutiny - or even a revolution? This edition of the Eltina Courrier was brought to you by Jameston Rum Destilleries - Henri Hollande's first choice, and hopefully soon yours, too! The Eltina Courier is looking for a few more editors for the next edition to ensure proper coverage of the Adventures of the Brick Seas. Applications to be send to the editorial staff (Shoot a pm to @Bregir @Legostone @Kolonialbeamter if you are interested in helping write the next turn of the AMRCA!)
  20. The Corlander Mokolei Expedition @Lord Buckethead commands the 2nd Company of the 14th Regiment of Foot. The unit is currently in the town of Tazelft, waiting for the rest of the expedition to arrive. Meanwhile, elements within the company are busy making enemies... and underestimating the severeness of the situation... @Bregir leads a platoon of the Royal Diplomatic Guard Regiment - an elite unit tasked with the protection of Corrlander diplomats. Their main focus is to help establish diplomatic ties with locals and hopefully the rulers of Mokolei later on. They've only just landed, and are a little behind schedule. The ETTC - always interested in new business opportunities - has sent a platoon of the 1st ETTC Regiment of Sepoys - to protect the interests of company and Crown - in that order. They have currently set up camp somewhere in the periphery of the town. As the sun begins to set over the walls of Tazelft, a mob is starting to form. The locals are outraged as to the behavior of the Corlander troops in their town! First, only strange, angry voices are echoing through the narrow alleyways, then the first rocks are flying towards the Corlander soldiers... Lord Buckethead - your options: Savages! - Let them have it! Send our fastest messengers to the Sepoys and the Diplomatic Guard Regiment, tell them to hurry, and set up a perimeter here at the market square! No matter the consequences, nobody messes with Her Majesty's soldiers! Firefight! Whatever it takes - show how the heroic Corlander troops manage to put the local populace in their place! If you win you'll gain 500DB for the expedition coffers. Drop what you cannot carry, and let's get the heck out of here - now! We've had it coming, and we won't pour any more oil into the fire! Show how the troops are withdrawing from Tazelft, or how they set up a position a little outside the town. Your expedition coffers will suffer minus 50 DB. Isn't this a diplomatic mission?! - Somebody dig up the diplomat! Show the negotiations with the insurgents, and what the great nation of Corrington is willing to do in order to calm the situation and to regain the goodwill of the people! Two builds or three vignettes required! ETTC: If Lord Buckethead picks option 1.): On the double, forward march! Show how the company's troops enter the town to actively support the 14th Regiment of Foot. Show the ETTC means business! We won't support foolish behavior - we are here to make business! Depict a company delegation discussing and closing a very lucrative business deal with the elders in the nearby village! Gain 250DB for the expedition coffers. If Lord Buckethead doesn't pick option 1.): The water in the well seems to contain substances that don't have any effect on the locals - but it's causing severe stomach trouble among the ETTC delegation. Arghh... can somebody get a doctor already? Show how the suffering delegation gets cured by a healer from a local village! The healer will be payed 30DB from the expedition coffers. Arghh... this... is... fine! Depict the delegation camp, and let... the... minifigs... suffer! Warning: There's a chance of temporary damage to the delegation's health! Arghh... where's that scientist when you need him?! Show how the ETTC scientist uses some of that Corrish science stuff, and manages to brew a healing elixir! Three vignettes required! Bregir: If Lord Buckethead picks option 1.): Abandon the heavy equipment - we have got to get to Talzelft asap! Show how the troops race through the desert, to reach the 14th Regiment of Foot in time! You loose 30DB worth of equipment. Let them face the music themselves! We are going to convince the locals of the truthfulness of our mission! Show your diplomats as they try to win the hearts and minds of the local populace! Two vignettes required. If Lord Buckethead doesn't pick option 1.): There's a village over there - let's do some diplomagic! Let's try to hire some local mercenaries - they sure know what and who to deal with in these strange lands! Show how your diplomats manage to convince the village elder to send some of his best men along with your expedition! And don't forget to include the troops! Let's try to obtain some local maps - this will surely help us on our way South! Build a Lego-map (at least 20x20 studs) of either the local surrounding, or all of the Mokolei empire - that's up to you! Note: There's a mechanic working in the background that will define the Mokolei empire's attitude once you reach their capital. If you get there that is
  21. Wow, what a monstrosity - classic Corrish design and purpose At least you did your part for befriending our northern neighbor The surroundings are pretty neat, and I'm just loving the Oleanders' faces Looks like it's... time for a feast!
  22. The Request - Small Commerce - license active
  23. Ahoy, mateys! Just a small scene today, to get some travels started - hopefully pushing me to finish the following builds in a timely fashion The Request Previously: Intro Next: New Directions Just as recently knighted Corentin Roseabeau is about to leave his offices, he is approached by his aide Frederick who is carrying a letter with an important looking seal on it... Monsieur Roseabeau! Monsieur Roseabeau! What is it, Frederick? Monsieur Roseabeau, this letter from the Compagnie arrived. It carries the seal of the Duc himself! Hmm... Hmm... What is it, Monsieur? Isn't the Directeur content with the plans provided for Fort Henri? Hmm... Hmm... Yes, it would seem that he is. He sends his sincere regards and gratitude. Then, what is it that makes you seem so worried, Monsieur? Hmm... Hmm... He wants more. And he expects me to head the planning and constructions myself - in Lavalette. Hmm... This is indeed a surprise. And quite an honorable request, Monsieur. But don't they all see that I'm busy running this arsenal here? There is just so much left to do here. We've only just started work on slipway no. 5, the timber supply from Eltina still isn't running on schedule - those yahoos just never get anything done - and it's not like there aren't any ships to be built... And I wanted to supervise Gloire's sea trials personally... So much to do, so much to do... Monsieur, of course, I understand. But you should also see the opportunities! Like catching the latest tropical disease? Never mind... I guess you are right. Been sitting behind that desk for too long - time to get my boots dirty again. I just need some more time to finish the more pressing issues. But we will leave within a fortnight! We, Monsieur? Yes, of course. I'm not going on this perilous journey without my most capable adviser. Oui, Monsieur. And Frederick... for the 937th time, no need to call me 'Monsieur'. Oui, I know, Monsieur. *Sigh*... Now - seems we need to find ourselves a ship. About: Well, not much to it... office building... hallway... maybe one day I'll turn this into something larger. For now it'll be licensed as a small commercial - there's business being done in offices after all. Thanks for watching, C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!
  24. @Faladrin The ship's bell tolled - midnight. And just as scheduled, the shape of Nelissa's coastline could be spotted against the horizon in the far distance - the Brickwall frigate was closing in on the alleged location of Captain Old Beard Caliquot's infamous flagship - the Red Nose Deer. From now on, Felipe de la Manzana ordered, there was total silence to be maintained! Half an hour and a cunning move later they had managed to circumvent the dreaded 'puño de león' - a dangerous cliff on Nelissa's south-western coast, surrounded by strong currents - grave to countless careless captains and their crews. Now the way was clear, and soon they would find out if the intel Basil de Eslandola had obtained from Tezclatipoca the cannibal was worth the risks Felipe was burdening on his men. Suddenly, a mast against the clear full-moon sky! Felipe's heart was racing. And only a heartbeat later it became clear - that vessel was indeed the Red Nose Deer! All eyes were on Felipe - 'What are your orders, captain?' This is a bigger ship than I had thought! Let's not attack them outright, but instead set a course of pursuit - we'll get them when they are busy dealing with some other prey! One build required. The winds are in our favor - use the weather gauge, gain on them, and prepare the men to board - let's get that map! One build required. Wait an hour more - they are probably getting drunk as we speak - then find a way to board the vessel unnoticed while most of the crew is asleep, get the map and free our friend! Be careful, though - there's still a chance you might get noticed! Three vignettes required!
