  1. Lucked into my first UCS X-Wing tonight at a Target. It was marked as an online return.
  2. If you look through Mark's post history on Reddit (didn't mean to stalk, but, ya know...), you'll see that he posted a picture of an old prototype of the M-Tron. In that picture, there's a half-Green space minifig.
  3. I live a few minutes away from Legoland California. I'm there all the time. 99% of the time, it's with my 6 year old or 2 year old. However, I've gone plenty of times without them. They don't bat an eye. The problem you heard about was a Legoland Discovery Center. To give you a little more confidence, I was just there last Monday (June 30). I had the day off from work, and was there to buy a couple of things. But because I'm usually there with my kids, there are a couple of roller coasters that I've gotten to ride (either the kids are too small, or too scared to ride). So I took advantage of being there by myself, and rode them. It wasn't an issue. Most of the time, when I go by myself, I'm there to shop. So I might be going into The Big Store, or I go to one of the small stores. They have a Pick-A-Brick store, as well. I've been known to hang out there, looking for parts for my MOCs. Again, no issues being there by myself.
  4. Four I like the dog sled, and would want to have it for my winter village. But otherwise, I don't care for the theme at all.
  5. Very awesome! It looks great, and got my vote because it was on the front page.
  6. Great work. This Mr. Stay Puft's okay! He's a sailor, he's in New York; we get this guy supported in CUUSOO, we won't have any trouble!
  7. I ran into a smiliar seller at the end of January. He's still up to his tricks now. With the seller I ran into, his buyers are all the same two or three accounts. It might be worthwhile to check that out with your seller. I wonder if it's some sort of money laundering operation. I tried to buy a Medieval Market, but he claimed he was "out of stock" when the auction was over. Yet, the next day, he had a new one to sell. He refunded me my money, but it was still a pain. Too bad I didn't see this at the time. I live in San Diego (wonder what small town it is?). I could have seen whether he was willing to do a "meet in person" arrangement, and see how willing he was to do that. Good luck.
  8. Just...wow. That's incredible! Any chance you want to share your plans? ;) Yeah, that looks great. Definitely makes me rethink doing it in the original colors. I know my daughter would love seeing it in those colors.
  9. Thanks everyone for the ideas. All good places to start. Looks good! Thanks for sharing. Looks like you did the same thing I want to do, so I'm at least not crazy. :) Oh, and I love the view out your windows.
  10. (Mods, if this isn't in the correct spot, please move it, thanks!) I've caught the Bricklinking bug, and I'm in the process of assembling a Mini Modulars set from parts I have laying around (and Bricklinking what I didn't have available). I learned a lot from the experience, and I'm already setting my sites on the next project. Today, I looked at the parts needed for the Grand Carousel. I still kick myself for never picking that thing up. It's beautiful. So, I thought I might try to Bricklink it. It's actually pretty straightforward. I have a lot of the parts, and can Bricklink the rest. I'm going to do a color change or two, based on cost, but it should still come out really nice. Here's the kicker - the main expense is the White Cloth Carousel Top Section (22x18). It appears in only one set - the Grand Carousel. You need 8 of them, and they go for about $50 each. Yikes! I want to completely avoid that, and I want to do something myself. I figure I can make something similar, but I need some ideas. I need measurements, and I need some ideas on suitable replacements. Can anyone give me a hand? Come up with a couple of suggestions that might work? I'm thinking fabric store or something along those lines; something that I can cut into the same shape.
  11. This is fantastic. I love it!
  12. Must. Resist. Making. Obvious. Joke.
  13. I live in a major metropolis, and we only have two or three AMC theaters here. They're about 45 minutes away from me. Add the $12 AMC membership fee, and I'm out. I like the DJ Robot, but that just makes it too much. I'd preorder the game, but a) I don't really want/need another video game, and b) if I don't keep the game, then I've got to sell it, and it's just too big of a pain to deal with - especially because I won't be the only one doing that (how many others are going to do that?) We'll be going to an Edwards, but we all hate 3-D. So, I may pass on it there, too. Just don't know that it's worth it.
  14. Awesome! Thanks for posting. That excited me a bit. I didn't like the last train station. My gut reaction is that I like this one.
  15. I've been following this thread with great interest. It's been really insightful, thank you everyone for sharing. I have plans to put together a couple of different retired sets, and I've been trying to figure out the best, lowest cost strategy. I'm curious - the initial route I considered taking was to buy some bulk Lego sets from Craigslist, sort through them, find elements that I needed, and then part out/sell the rest. Is there a reason why any of you didn't consider doing it that way? Obviously, some of the parts are going to be harder to come by (and perhaps in the case of GG, too hard to come by), but curious to know if this ever factored into your decision.
  16. Wow, that looks great!
  17. Monster Fighters. Didn't have an interest in them at all. Until I started building my Winter Village. Then, my wife saw a couple and said, "those would make a great Halloween Village." Of course, that put the bug in both of us. What makes it worse is that I saw all the MF stuff on sale at Walmart last year, but completely dismissed it.
  18. One of the destinations on the street sign is "Heartlake City"
  19. My Target had them on an endcap. They were marked for $2.29. They rang up at $2.99, but they honored the $2.29 price.
  20. Thanks for the review. I primarily want the robots for my Halloween Town. But everything looks great. I think I'll have to pick up the whole thing
  21. Fantastic! Enjoy, and let us know how the shopping and the running go.
  22. PAB = Pick-A-Brick
  23. I ran the Long Beach Half/Full Marathon back in November. There's lots of great running to be done right there, along the beach and waterfront. We should have some great weather in SoCal this weekend. Take a look for the course map, and maybe run some of that.
  24. Great idea. I hadn't thought about that. It should only be 30 minutes east of LB, if that. You can take the 22 East to the 5 North. Parking is free for 2 hours, I believe. You can park near the Disneyland Hotel/ESPN Zone. The Lego store is under the monorail tracks.
  25. I'm a runner, too. In your situation, I'd do the same thing. Sounds like a good plan!
