Arduino -Many motor question
JopieK replied to knotian's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It depends on how you do it. A typical motor driver IC can run two motors. You could use SPI or i2c motor driver units and then control many more. It also depends on what type of motors (DC, Servo, stepper) you want to drive. See e.g.: https://www.adafruit.com/?q=motor driver Controlling motors using the Atmega328 happens to be the topic op this weeks lectures to my first year embedded / electrical engineering students :) -

Stickers isn't a big deal! Or is it?
JopieK replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
@pooda For LEGO? Printing on bricks requires UV printing (more modern) or screen printing (more old fashioned), you can see the latter it in e.g. 'the LEGO factory' in Günzburg park. Printing on bricks also has disadvantages: you can't reuse the brick even if you buy a set only for parts, also it might more easily scratch. Printing on parts is a precise process, you need to hold a piece in a certain way etc. @coinoperatorof course that is what I do (scanning them in HQ), but one gets the best results by redrawing them as vectors (that is how I reproduce stickers), they are also designed as vectors of course as that is how graphics designers work and a TIFF is a bitmap instead so not perfect! -
Stickers isn't a big deal! Or is it?
JopieK replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well I recognize some of the critics. LEGO should make them open source so we at least can reprint them at affordable prices when the sets are not being produced anymore. For some sets original stickers are really, really expensive and that is quite strange, LEGO does not seem to produce their own stickers, afaik they outsource it to printers. -
Of course you can, I know, I am a software engineer so I could even program some tool for it, that is not the point, Word and Powerpoint are office tools. Why make things more difficult than they are.
-
@MAB I don't agree, the software does matter. Powerpoint might compress your images. Word and Powerpoint are also not meant for graphics. GIMP (Open source), maybe Paint .Net and Photoshop are better. I always use vectors though, they stay sharp no matter what (Illustrator / Inkscape): eps / svg.

Great job! There are some differences between (original) versions b.t.w.

The Robot Solving Maze
JopieK replied to pasquentmax's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Does it use the 'finger to the wall' algorithm? Very nice job! I hope one day LEGO will also release those omni-wheels, would be great for First LEGO League etc. -
Looks really great! Now we need to find students that fall for it (getting credits for building with LEGO who wouldn't want that, but the competition with other projects is fierce I understand :)). Indeed without the Pi would be best as we want to focus on what is possible with LEGO for simulation / automation. Of course I know also of those great factories from LEGO World etc but time is too limited to do that for those students, the akiyuki one is a really great starting point!

Hi guys and gals, a colleague and I have been asked to develop some project with LEGO: we work in an Engineering school (university of applied sciences). We have decided split it into two themes (two groups of 2-3 students), factory automation and domotics. For factory automation the EV3 seems to be most appropriate at least for the basics. Maybe something towards GBC or something. Themes around it include Digital Twin, factory automation, etc. The research question (that other colleagues defined, but they don't have the time to work things out) behind the project was "is LEGO Mindstorms also appropriate for Higher Education teaching". Of course the answer is yes we AFOLs would say, but with the new Bluetooth sets we should not limit it even to Mindstorms we think, so it would be great to try the same for domotics but maybe more with the Powered Up / Boost / WeDo 2.0 / Control+. As others will also need to use it for now the idea is to stick to genuine LEGO products although we could add a Raspberry Pi or something as a main controller. Do you guys have any experience with connecting multiple devices already? I know it is possible using Bluetooth. We would prefer graphical programming, but Python or something would be also doable I think. The budget for parts is at least 2500€, the only thing is that my colleague and I are very busy so although I would like to also find out more about things myself (and even revamp by Powered Up app, due to work / research projects we are unable to dedicate a lot of time apart from coaching to the project). Any input / ideas appreciated!!!

Can you reach it from the other side with a drill or something? Otherwise try to drill this side little bij little from the central hole of the arm remnants and carefully try to pry out trough that hole.

Welcome to Eurobricks. I have moved your topic to Train tech. Also not we have a search option. @Bricksmith is the Mallard expert in here! This is what I found:

Physical guide for applying stickers?
JopieK replied to badbob001's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You could use some soapy water to apply them. Another option is masking tape as a way to transfer the stickers. -
Welcome mern, great to have you here finally ;)

I took the liberty to fix an image, it also points to the video. Very nice Terry, and welcome to Eurobricks and the Train Tech subforum.

Stunning, you did a great job in improving it!

Looks very nice @brickbuilder711. I think basing it on the EN is a smart thing to do!

To all MOC builders with Studio 2.0
JopieK replied to DonRamon1981's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
You could always use photoshop / GIMP to fix certain items that are missing in the digital LEGO tools. -
Welcome @brann and sorry to hear about that. Honestly I would not know where to start, but your suggestion to get things in bulk would probably a good one. Maybe also try to find discounted sets with parts that are suitable for castles as well... But the problem are minifigs etc of course. I suggest you also enter LUGBulk (e.g. through FreeLUG they probably do that too) that hopefully is run again around the end of the year for 2020. It helped me to get nice parts in bulk e.g. for building trees etc.

Very nice creation Antha. Now hope the flowers will stay fresh for a long time :)

[MOC] CP- Sekss - Car Transporter Wagon (with free LDD file)
JopieK replied to Sérgio's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Same problem here. I try to create a modular city around my train layout, but for now I also stick to LDD / Stud.io. My employer made a mistake last year that caused me to work too many hours, they promised to pay some of it this month but it went sour somewhere (hope they will do it next month), then I at least can get some parts for my builds and maybe the Disney train, need to split it with my wife (she probably then goes for the 42099 Technic set herself). -
Welcome Adnan, me sure to read and reread our rules. Ask if you are getting confused :)

You could but it on brickshelf.com and link to it. I doubt it will get 10.000+ votes but I would suggest you also put it on IDEAS as it is such a great car!
