  1. I use SMD leds.
  2. 12V straight rail, more ship hulls, BICYCLE (I was waiting for that!!! It has some issues I think, but better than no bike), hope they put classic hinge plates etc in LDD 4.0, they didn't fix that window problem yet. They put in those classic garage lamella doors!!! So not too bad I guess
  3. So did I! :) I see some nice new bricks (supports etc.) but am a bit disappointed that there are not more minifig torso prints e.g.
  4. Of course it has a regulator. standard IC's don't work on higher voltages than 5V (or even 3.3V). It has nothing to do with data signals however. I have made a bunch of PF receivers of my own. Either the uC (microcontroller) that processes the IR messages works or not. The capacitors and diodes seen in the brickshelf photos are just there for making it work even better but strictly speaking not necessary (although for toy purposes they are of course). And Xargon321 can't get away with using a voltage regulator be it a low dropout or not, he needs an H-bridge etc on it's own, since if he uses the regulator the motors are also regulated and that is what he doesn't want. I was just saying that probably the voltage regulator will be the problem when giving it more than 10V.
  5. My idea was also to check philohome, but anyway. Logic normally works on 5V. It will be able to take 12V I guess but then a built-in convertor like an 7805 voltage regulator will still regulate it down to 5V. Some power will be converted to (essentially) heat, so be sure it will not overheat your PF logic. Maybe use a lab power supply and try it in small steps.
  6. Hello Karyn, welcome at EB, they even have a special ladies group here. I have lived in Waxhaw for half a year so I know NC quite well, although I haven't met any LEGO builders there.
  7. I'm doing my master thesis on related subjects and am also working on a LEGO empowered learning environment, so quite handy to use! Thanks a lot.
  8. That is correct, this is in Universe mode of course. The blinds are interchangable. And those old latticed blinds are too large I guess.
  9. Well, it is indeed strange and I know the actual LEGO parts well enough to also thing about it, but this is the LDD experiment result:
  10. maybe it was already mentioned, but I can't seem to get those two window blends both together in the window (one or the other works out fine, both at the same time is not possible): b.t.w. occurs with both windows 1x4x3 and doesn't occur with the other inside frames...
  11. Set 7415 - Aero Nomad (Orient Expedition) Only torso', the string and rubber bands aren't accurate. The lxf is here Enjoy it!
  12. Well, quite easy, just use photoshop ;)
  13. Train: Schwerkleinwagen - SKL 530670 (German) Builder: Robel Year: 1977 Company: Deutsche Bahn In the Bochum Dahlhausen Train museum in Germany, I saw this train: I then went to LDD and created this LEGO version: Hope you enjoy it!
  14. Well, I'm a mac user... ;) no update at the moment, brick version 114.3 for me.
  15. Well, what I mean was, that if one wants to be sure no one else makes a copy, you can better not put any pics and or the model itself in the openness. I have seen LEGO designers taking very close pictures from models and some years later very familiar aspects were introduced into sets. But it stays a very difficult matter. How far can one go. I'm right now creating a train in LDD based on an existing train from a museum. That is also a form of plagiarism of course although no one will care and the train is too old to have any representatives left I guess.
  16. But better not put any pics on the www and/or don't take it to a larger event, LEGO is spying on us as well and they aren't just little kids anymore...
  17. on the other hand, a nine year old kid is not very likely to understand anything about copyrights. You could also be just flattered if someone else borrows your design. b.t.w. LEGO also 'steals' ideas at events from the AFOLS so, well... I don't condone plagiarism but just want to put it a bit into perspective
  18. It would be nice from LEGO to have all the old hinge parts. It is quite hard to miss so many of those parts when recreating old sets in LDD. Also those neat sliding doors (was recreating set 4536) also the 9V motor cover is not found in my LDD version ;)
  19. it turned out that I had some little design flaws in my signal post, but it was really handy to build it in LDD. Normally I would use my own LEGO + bricklink to build the structure then, but this one was a gift from my girlfriend for our anniversary :)
  20. Vinyl and/or polyester, take a look at our site. We use that. It is quite difficult however and momentarily I'm too busy to have enough time for the site etc.
  21. Well, I was also wondering, I received my Signal Post and the front is rendered with reflection etc. That would be a very desirable option for LDD to, not only being able to export but also to render. Does anyone know how to do this (apart from convering it to LDraw and then using e.g. Povray).
  22. Very nice tip! Just what I need these days ;) Post my results as soon as I have finished part of the project I'm working on.
  23. Camera viewpoints by using dummy pieces orso would be great (especially for making stop motion animations using ldd ;)). Also searching for part names (I couldn't find the frog e.g., now I found it). As well as a better organisation of blocks in Universe mode.
  24. 25. Well, it is, but inside that you can see the lamp cone. Under it a dish. I don't know any piece that is a one brick high 'light sabre'?! Maybe it was cut?! Anyway, very nice moc indeed!!!
