  1. Well, I have looked at the PF spec's (trying to create some IR stuff for PF myself) and it is quite simple so I don't think your transmitter will be different from the ones of the new batch.
  2. Just got this email from TLG, so they still have problems with the PF parts.: Dear ..., I wanted to write to you personally regarding your recent order for the LEGO® Power Functions Train Accessories Pack K8882. Thank you for your interest in experiencing our newest innovation driven by LEGO Power Functions. Since receiving your order, we have experienced challenges with two of the Power Functions elements. Firstly, we experienced unforeseen manufacturing delays with the Transformer 10VDC (8887). Secondly, we chose to take the difficult decision to delay shipment of the Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control (8879) because our initial deliveries did not perform up to LEGO quality standards. Ultimately, I would like you to receive the best LEGO product and service experiences available in the world as our LEGO Shop-at-Home guest. Regrettably, I must apologize personally and on behalf of my entire team as we delivered a severely substandard and disappointing experience on this new product launch. I want you to know that this delay in your order is very far below the service standard that you should expect from The LEGO Group. I hope you will forgive us this poor performance so far. I would like to address the outstanding items which you are waiting for. The Power Functions Transformer 10VDC (8887) will be received into our fulfillment centre in Denmark this week and will be turned around for delivery to you immediately. We will send this to you by express delivery. The shipping date for the Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control (8879) is currently being finalized, and we will send this out to you by express delivery as soon as it is available. I would like to apologize once again for the disappointment that this experience has caused and thank you for your patience and your continued trust in LEGO products. I hope you will give me and my colleagues at LEGO Shop-at-Home a chance to redeem ourselves for this poor performance in the future. Sincerely, Skip Kodak Vice President - LEGO Global Direct-to-Consumer Business
  3. I'm not sure but most countries don't have a LEGO store (except from Germany): http://stores.lego.com/en-US/default.aspx
  4. Well amperage doesn't matter as long as the transformer can handle more than the units connected to it (otherwise it will overheat the transformer). So a 600mA+ transformer should be ok. Also the voltage doesn't matter that much as long as it is not more than 9V. LEGO uses a rectifier circuit with diodes that will usurp about 1Volt so from 10V~ it will make 9V= B.t.w. LEGO also gave me a mail a month ago that they will send me the products save the controller but not received anything yet. I hate the way they made the XL PF motor option for the train b.t.w. it takes all of realism right again out of the train, but fortunately better options are appearing on the internet.
  5. Well, in dutch higher education (and also secondary education) there are much more boys than girls involved in Technical subjects and courses. I know that this is the case in most countries. LEGO looks a bit technical (and in fact is quite technical, it has to do with visual insight and perception, construction, etc.). This also has to do with role patterns: boys get a LEGO set from age 4, girls get a Barbie doll or something like that. (Grand)parents play a large role in gender confirmation, but also peers. At the FIRST LEGO League we try to stimulate girls in participating, because if there are say 30% girls this will draw more girls so we hope to once get a 50-50 mix of boys/girls.
  6. We have some too (German, Belgian, Dutch and Danish):
  7. very nice ;)
  8. Hey Lasse, nice review man! You are a lucky guy to have that nice set. Maybe you should join the academy and also become a review expert apart from moc expert. Greetings Johan Update: you can also part it out at bricklink. Result: - no stickers (did I know someone that had them somewhere 'en grosse'? ) - no Dark Bluish Gray Electric, Power Functions Extension Wire (length 50cm) 2x - no Green Rock Panel Rectangular (BURP) (4x) - no Light Bluish Gray Technic, Plate Rotor 3 Blade with Toothed Ends and 3 Studs (Propeller) 2x (but there in not so bluish light gray) - no Trans-Black Glass for Window 1 x 4 x 6 - no White Technic, Plate 1 x 5 with Smooth Ends, 4 Studs and Center Axle Hole - and then the figs and box+instructions but the figs are very common. After setting al those items to 1$ (except the stickers to 5$), I found out that the new parts are $260.11 Most expensive other parts: White Tile, Modified 6 x 12 with Studs on Edges (2,60) White Technic, Gear 24 Tooth Clutch (1,81) Tan Technic, Gear 20 Tooth Double Bevel (0,94) Light Bluish Gray Electric 9V Power Functions Battery Box 4 x 11 x 7 with Orange Switch and Dk Bluish Gray Covers Complete Assembly (7,70) Light Bluish Gray Electric, Motor 9V Power Functions Small with Dk Bluish Gray Bottom (12,16) Green Baseplate 32 x 32 (6,38) Black Electric, Light Unit Power Functions with Black PF Connector Lead (12,18)
  9. I have recreated the whole thing in Illustrator, so if there are people that want them just send a pm.
  10. Yups, would be nice to provide us with a link :p Colleagues of Mech. Engineering can't fix it for me with their laser cutter at least (then can with a mold but too expensive).
  11. well if the gears are broke even following a step by step procedure will fail ;) The hardest part is connecting the decoder and that was quite easy.
  12. indeed, nice set, nice review!
  13. Well, I'll try that! I think I'm going to try it and get a vectorized version of the logo.
  14. Nice review, maybe you should join the Academy!
  15. I have tried to make two trains running on DCC. One of the motors has a defective gear (is the same as this one) , the other also has problems after I have closed the motor. Is someone familiar with replacement gears for the 9V motor or has someone tips for me so the train engines will work fine again?! This shop has some gears: conrad 1 shop 2] I probably need to go to a shop and try some, but initial idea's appreciated! Johan
  16. Well, it seems that Mac already has Arabic built in and I used the SIL Arabic font (www.sil.org). But the problem is with the Emirates word. It is on the planes, that is for sure (if I take a look in google or at their website). But I can't select it somewhere I'm afraid.
  17. It is not really a minifig, but a plane for minifigs (this seems to be the most appropriate forum). I have been asked to reproduce this stickersheet: The left side and the tail is no problem but, the arabic after emirates at the top is. Can anyone give some tips on how to type these characters (and maybe the transliteration in latin characters?!). Thanks in advance.
  18. Hi Guys, since people in the forum asked about it, we decided to reproduce the Vestas stickers: EDIT: See my post below
  19. Good to see that it reached you Gouns ;)
  20. It is a nice set, but not that special, is it?! Some nice parts, but then again, I just built the Kjeld set (hope to do a review on it soon) and that is a nicer set I think.
  21. most classic trains also have them, then they are used to let the conductor give a 'cleared for take off' to the engineer.
  22. I have recreated the stickersheet of Vestas: (you can see it at our site, coupon code eurovestas gives 1 extra Vestas free stickersheet to Eurobricks folks: if you order two and redeem the coupon, you get the second one free) Here is the original sheet
  23. I have a scan of the vestas stickers so if people are interested I can reproduce them. Until now I created an Eneco and NUON version of the stickers (we have those energy brands in holland).
  24. we will be taking our 'sticker city'. We will also add some nice other items I think (like a working railroad crossing).
  25. a really nice set. It is perfect for our city
